Everyone deserves time with family.. and we sure do take up a whole lot of Rick's time.
So here is to hoping Rick and family had a fantastic weekend! :D
I will admit that my heart races with excitement now, as Monday draws close. My gal Ravin" should be coming home before that long , to be my wife Patty's bedside Aroma Diffuser, and her young Protoge' will come with her, to join Kushin' the Myrtle, in full service!
Kushin' the blonde Myrtle Zap, has been getting a workout this week. I have decided to use the kief I had been collecting for 6 months in one of my Pollen Catching grinders. I fill my stems about halfway, with a gentle suck on the stem, and I follow with a suck over a pile of kief ( don't get to much or it will restrict airflow!). I finall suck up one tiny pinch of weed again. This has provided me withthe longest lasting Zap Stems ever! One stem gives 4 huge clouds, then settles down for a couple thinner pulls, and then is done.
Needless to say I have felt "medicated"! :)
Uncle Vito's home is full of joy! :)

Just bought a nice koozie for when i bring the zap in the bedroom with my massive monster A/C and now i can still blow those big clouds when i wake up in my frigid room  Im def getting the itch to buy another zap...something in a darker wood to compliment my lighter zap.

Saw some others recently had some problems with a rattle in the zap, and it seems mine has developed this after about 9 months. Just ordered the kit from Rick which I believe addresses the problem.

I'm assuming the kit has the necessary instructions for resetting the ring (I'm assuming this is what is rattling and moving a little), but is there any other advice from anybody who has had to do this which might be handy? I'm not exactly Bob Villa here.

Cheers,
mudstar

EDIT:

As an aside, I just fashioned a koozie to help my zap stay warm with my A/C sucking power in my bedroom...Anybody else with koozies...you keep yours on only while vaping, or is it ok to leave it on all the time while my power is getting sucked by the A/C?

I use a koozi in the winter months as my zap is in my heated man cave third garage and workshop. Even though it's heated, temps do get down to around 55- 60 degrees when its really cold outside. If I dont use the koozi my Zap doesn't put out the vapor that it doe's at warmer temps of 70-85 degrees in the summer. I do leave the koozi on all of the time and remove it again when the ambient temps get back up to around 70-75 degrees. This has worked quite well for me with no noticeable loss in Zap performance.

When my Zap was first here, it ran a bit cool, but still gave pretty fair hits. One day I left the aroma flower on for a few hours for the first time. I took it off to do a hit... and I was impressed! It was a thick cloud. This has not stopped since. I think that the aroma flower kept the heat right there at the source, and gave a warmer hit. I leave the aroma flower on 24/7. You could try diffusing oils while you are not hitting the Zap, and see if that gives you even warmer hits.

I got a glass bong recently. My 1st glass water tool since 1969!
I got it to test out some water stuff I received... but before I get busy testing or even add Ice to this thing, I thought I would see if it worked with my Zap.

The Zap works very well with a bong!
These are some of the tastiest bong hits ever!

I figured it was time to actually have a avatar. That one looks a LOT like mine so I used it. I am home sick today and will try to snap some photos. My camera is at work, so I might have to use my iphone.

just as in a earlier post, I am curious how you seat the clip properly. Maybe someone has a youtube video?

My apologies for not answering your specific question on tightening the top ring on the Zap. No excuses for missing that one.
Your job is to re-seat the top ring so it presses tight against the top plate. With the ring tight, the center portion of the heatport(aka heat exchanger)will be tight against the inner sleeve(not visible) and will not rattle or spin. Sometimes a second or third ring is necessary in order to grab fresh, non-charred wood. The charred slot is made by the original ring, over time with constant heat.
So
1) Place Zap on a firm surface. Tabletop, bar, bench, kitchen counter top, etc.
2) Use a flat blade screwdriver and go around the circumference of the top ring, tapping the top of screwdriver lightly with a hammer. We prefer to use a bushing of some sort that will just fit inside the top hole and rest on the top ring rather than a screwdriver. A 3/4" copper pipe coupling works very well for this(available at lowes, Ace, etc for under a buck). Also a deep mechanic socket of the proper size will work well. Nothing can/should touch the center tube, only the top retaining ring gets tapped down. Then(with a bushing) one or two taps(firm taps) will re-seat the entire ring at one time.
If the Zap is older or a softer wood, another ring should be installed over the original ring and seated as described above. Sometimes that is tough to do because the center hole will always shrink with heat so the 1" internal retaining ring can be difficult to get in the hole. That is why we grind the ends of the rings down a bit in our Tite kit. The rings will then squeeze just a little smaller and allow them to go in the tighter(with time and heat) hole.
Soon we should not need the rings and there will not be a rattle...........stay tuned...........

This certainly sounds interesting! You've peaked my interest... I'll be staying tuned, you can bet on it.

Hope you feel better soon ob.

no worries rick. I just noticed that my mahoe (the one with the rattle, has two rings in there not just one as the others do. I am assuming a bushing will not work in this case and I should use the screwdriver method.

Do I need to do something different in that case. Sorry I do not know what I am doing better. I swear when I was younger, I had a better understanding than I do now that I am older. Thanks!

The bushing use for tightening the top ring works the best for any amount of rings(I have done up to four rings). You will recall I warned you about the softness of the mahoe. Softer wood will run hotter vape air but also has a shorter lifespan with the heat. That is why we did not officially sell any Mahoes. And I do recall you are into denim for some reason? Anyway, try just the re-seat of both rings for a start to see if that will help. You may have to put a third ring in to keep it quiet.
And wow! give us enough shots why don't you! BTW, the mate to that Mahoe Zap was taken last summer by the(highway)authorities as some of you may recall.
As for the screwdriver method, I only mentioned it because it has been repeated on another log vape thread often. We always recommend using a bushing of some sort to re-seat the top ring as that works the best.
Oh, mom, proto #2 early next week.

 Holy moly.... I'd better watch what I ask for next time ob! She is a beauty though. And the only one in "existence" (unless the highway authorities saved the other one for some reason...). You take real good care of her!

 Ricardo... you big tease! I'm glued to this thread. :D
