Discontinued The Grasshopper

Actually, you can't exactly do that. If I recall, the lifetime warranty was promised and sold to customers with the vaporizer.

Magic Flight offered lifetime warranty on their Orbiter but ended that warranty program on all Orbiters sold after Dec '14.

If the Grasshopper team gets an unexpected amount of warranty claims, they might do the same for backers and pre-orders, meaning backers and pre-orders will get the LT warranty but they will stop offering LT warranty with any production priced units.

That was the kind of thing I had in mind in my post about the warranties changing but I didn't explain myself very well, I guess

With the Orbiter, Magic flight said from day one that the lifetime warranty on glass would end in 2015. They never changed anything warranty wise but only stood by their word.
Are you saying it's unethical for a company to change any of their policies as it relates to future orders?
Edit: I'm not saying it is ethical, I'm just curious whether or not it is. Would be a shame if they can't change that policy ever, because I agree with those who believe it wasn't the greatest business decision. Five years would have been plenty.

The ethics of changing warranty terms (something that happens all the time) is not a topic for this thread. Neither is the policy of Magic_flight. Please stick to the Grasshopper.

wayyy ahead of you, I've got several accessories already in the works for the GH. As soon as I have a GH to get the final measurements, I can finalize the designs and publish them.

I like the cap idea though, hadn't thought about that one.

I could give you some measurements that you might be able to work with.....I have a couple of slide calipers so I can get it pretty exact and I have a digital one that can be super precise but I am sure you need the GH to really get things figured out and tested.....let me know if I can give you some measurements. Also, I think you could design a cool silicone mouth guard for more extreme temperatures and vaping with some sort of cooling spiral or something........I'm not sure what of the limits with 3d printing but I've got a 100 ideas for the GH and other vapes, the Crafty/mighty, herbalizer etc.......

@Ratchett is busy working on that alternate mouthpiece! :spidey:

@Just Justin how has your unit been performing? Any reason to be worried about supposedly two failed units?

So far, so good. The GH is a champ and I think they will be very reliable but you still need to be careful. They tend to roll and they have some heft, so they are easily dropped but I have great confidence in the GH, certainly more than any other vape out there with the possible exception of the Elevape SV and Volcano etc...I think the weak point of the GH is the On/off assembly because that is a mechanical part and they wear over time but that can be swapped out and the batteries plastic can be damaged which can make them mail function but other than that, I've got HIGH hopes for the GH!

@peaceonearth I won't comment on what's ethical and what's not these days, it's been like 37 years since i took an ethics class and the only knowledge I carry with me from that is that it's actually now a fluid and ever changing/growing branch of philosophy.

Five years would have been plenty.

Yeah I agree, five years warranty on something like a portable is more then enough for me.

As nervous as I am for this update, I think I'm more anxious to know the details of @midgetsanchez and @baltik 's GH issues.
The update can say anything, and the words within may or may not turn out to come to fruition, but i think the cause of the "strange" issues with the first couple official production grasshoppers has a far greater chance of impacting my estimated shipping date. Trevor and Matt might just have to go back to the drawing board, or redesign and remanufacture a part, or do some complicated software update.
I'm very concerned.

I'm grateful for our few FC V.1 testers/customers who have taken it on the chin for us, helping to reveal the GH strengths & weakness, to include malfunctions. If it turns out that an additional delay(s) comes from it, all the better I say - helping to get the bugs out and succeeding at it is never a bad thing IMO. Personally, I can wait.

It's a brand new vaporizer I think it would be hard to say that is better than most vaporizers out there, that is your opinion. I appreciate all your reviews with the GH. I wish you only happy vaping.

The clip doesn't prevent it from rolling?

Yes, the clip does prevent it from rolling on flat surfaces but if you have it on your lap or something, it likes to try roll away and I have had some close calls because of its shape and heft.

On another note, I am working on a few accessories for the GH and one of them is a dock or stand. Does anyone have any ideas for one? Shape? Material? Size? Should it have a cable hook so you can stand your GH while it charges? Have spots for extra batteries, brush, pick, scoop? What does everyone think?

Right now, the one I'm working on is made out of Purple Heart wood and its just a simple square, roughly 2x2x2 and it will just have a hole for the GH to stand mouthpiece down and maybe a few extra small holes for a brush, scoop, or pick and maybe a extra battery. I will post a pic if it turns out..........

Sounds like it needs a leash!

The wood stand sounds really nice.

Another cool accessory someone, maybe @Ratchett, could design is a guard to block the lights but still let air in. I'm sure there will be situations (concerts or something similar) where it's somewhat dark and I won't want to attract extra attention.

It would also be cool to have a mouth piece that looked like an e-cig tank. Maybe even has some fake (or real) e-juice in it.

Hello Everyone,

This is the update you’ve all been waiting for.

Grasshopper shipping has begun, and will continue at an increasing rate.

After 19 exhausting months, everything is in place and Hoppers are rolling off of the assembly line.

The last piece of the puzzle.

We are working around the clock to increase production volume and streamline the assembly process. We’re on-target to be producing thousands of units per week by the end of July.

Check back on July 1st for the latest production news.

Concentrates (oils front end I believe they were calling it) is still "in development", as in they'll think about it after they've caught up on orders, so it's aways off.

I just moved 46 posts about the latest update to the Grasshopper Shipping thread. Please note that this thread should be about the Grasshopper and not how soon they will ship, how many they will ship, whether your ship date had been updated, or whether their update contains enough information. You can discuss these things to your heart's content in the other thread. Thanks for your cooperation.
