This is not possible. You cannot get better airflow through the Pax 2 by doing something to the oven screen. The airflow limitation is the oven lid. You can prove this for yourself by simply inhaling at a constant rate with the screen in place while removing and replacing the oven lid. Notice that the flow is more restricted with the lid on. If the oven screen were limiting the flow then there would be no difference.
I have tried it that way and while you are correct, I just tried it with a mesh screen and it does have better airflow with the lid closed and the mesh screen, as opposed to the screen closed and pax screen. Try it if you can and let me know if you have the same experience.
Good to know, I suppose the airflow could be a little better, but I haven't noticed any resin build up in the screen nor any evidence of combustion..

I look forward to your post after you fire up your Pax2 with the Haze screen.
Oh, I don't have a Haze screen, I used a steel one very similar to the haze screen but i haven't fired it up just yet, I still can't :ugh: I have gotten resin on the side where the vapor exits right behind the hole, and sometimes it's a pain to take it off unless the oven is warm. But it is some good reclaim.

Hey all, as some saw back ten or so pages, there was question about an alternate vented oven lid...

Found it on eBay today! (Edit: cheaper from newvape)
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=111660326906

With shipping for me it's about $25 which is comparable to what PAX Lavs charges for the pax 1 lid (no pax 2 replacements yet).

I'm curious, it looks like it's just vented to allow better airflow. As @pakalolo has mentioned many times, the oven lid is truly what restricts your draw, so for those that want an easier draw, this may work. I think I'll purchase one and try it out!

Edit: Also available on Newvape.com for $20

Hey All!!

I wanted to announce that my Pax2 Silicone Waterpipe Adapter (SonG) is finished and now on sale!
http://delta3dstudios.com/pax2-waterpipe-adapter/

This adapter was designed to fit over the flared mouthpiece, but it seems it can also replace the mouthpiece completely! Works with both 14mm and 18mm female glass fittings.

Still working on getting some pictures for my store listing but I am now taking and shipping orders for this adapter

In other news, I have successfully deodorized my Pax2 Caps. No more new-car smell!

I just got my acidskins Pax2 cover. It protects the Pax2 nicely but is virtually useless against odor. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5. :peace:

Why the 3.5? I was thinking of getting one of these just because it somewhat protects the vape

Nice, the ones I just received today, fast shipping by the way, are not smelly at all. Thanks they seem to work well.

why are there no accessories in the Pax2 store yet (with the exception of screens)? I've got money just burning a hole in my pocket for some useful and cool accessories.

same here, I keep anxiously checking for them. someday soon I suppose...

This too shall PAX...
Good Day All,

I just received my PAX2 Waterpipe Adapter (among some other goodies) from Delta3DStudios! Thanks @Ratchett for such quick shipping!

Below, I posted a short usage video with the PNWT hooked up to the PAX2 with simply the Delta3DStudios adapter (no mouthpiece). I will apologize in advance for any quality/issues as this is my first attempt at a video or upload for that matter. This was in the middle of my session after I bumped from 2 petals to 3 on a half pack wax sandwiched load.

I do not own any glass adapters to compare with, but one thing I liked that you will notice at the end of the video is the flexibility of the part. No need to be super cautious or gentle with your "connection".

Sweet little piece... props to Delta3DStudios and @Ratchett

What are thoughts on newvape.com's vented oven lids?

People seem to talk about losing vapor...but doesn't warm air rise? Smell would be an obvious issue, but I've accepted the smells.

I'd like to see the pax people weigh in on this. I would have thought the pax 2 was engineered for the oven to be closed, not vented. But who knows???

I got the Pax2 caps a few days ago, quite odiferous at first but a vinegar soak followed by a wash with soap and water helped and after a few days it seems to have deoderized quite well. I dig em, they work really well for containing vape and weed smells!

I apologize if yours still have a new-car smell! I have deodorized my remaining inventory of pax2 caps using a Dehydrator (worked VERY well - medium temperature for 12 hours). PM me if they still have any smell and I'll exchange at no charge!

How often is everyone cleaning their Pax 2?

I, uh, haven't yet. I'm not a super heavy vaper. But my oven screen is starting to get pretty brown, light/medium brown. I took off the mouth piece the other day and there was a little resin build up there.

Guess I need to handle it soon. I don't like cleaning!

I just wished the PAX 2 was a little more strong with the hits. I wonder if a third-party mouth piece will come out anytime in the near future.
I used to think the same thing until I started packing it down with the oven kid, I also do have to stir in between sessions if I want to keep getting big hits. They are comparable to hits from my solo when it's packed down nicely. It could also depend on the herb you're using though.

I grind up my herb very fine and pack it down to the max. The vapour I get creates thick clouds, however I feel like it's not hitting my lungs, but rather the back of my mouth if you know what I mean. The only other vaporizer I have tried is the Crafty and Volcano so I'm not sure how the PAX 2 compares to other vaporizers on the market.

Yeah the Pax vapor doesn't feel as dense as a hit from the solo but it does effect me in the same way. I feel the same amount of high with the same amount of bud. I have also learned to draw slowly and I'll be able to get bigger hits. I understand exactly what you mean but in a way, if it takes me where I want to be then I don't mind not feeling like I have a massive hit in my lungs. I won't cough and that isn't a problem since I want to be as stealthy as possible with it.

I'm probably dead wrong on how it works but the vented lid wouldn't make the oven work like a convection oven would it? I know convection ovens move air through the material to heat it all evenly, but the air coming through the vented lid would probably stay cool and not heat up, right?

No. Not convection....the air is still unheated. All a vented lid would give you is an airier, and quite possibly less effective, conduction vape.

I agree with ya there, a less effective draw would then be the case. This might have you drawing too easily and getting more air than vape. And that may even screw up the device's temperature control loop.

This brings a curious thought (especially since I'm medicated nicely at the moment).... We discuss the subject of how to get minimal "draw resistance", but if we take this too far, we reduce the optimal functioning of the device. SURE, there are improvements of course! Especially those provided by the innovative minds found right here on FC! Yet, I think we all know that there is a point of diminishing returns, and then we wind up with what works best for each of us.

Thank you for allowing me a soap box moment :myday:
