The Herbalizer

So my Herbie started making a loud noise/vibration a few weeks ago. It came and went, however lately it has been getting louder when it acts up.
I searched here, and on Google for a reason or solution and couldnt really find one. Today I was able to duplicate it and found exactly what the root of the noise is.
I'm sure this has been touched on but I hope this helps anyone else that is dealing with this. I wish I didn't have to send it in for repair but a loose magnet is better then bad bearings or a noisy fan IMO.

Don't freak!
Call Herbalizer!

Mine sometimes make this sound. To stop the sound, I twist the bowl (my magnet is loose) until it hits the g-spot and stops humming.

I use fan assist 99% of the time because I like it feeding me vapor. How do most ppl use it here? Fan assist or straight draw?
I like the fan with a bong/bubbler, but I LOVE the whip with no fan. You really gotta hoover it though, I typically draw hard until I see 3 waves of temp recovery on the screen, then try to hold out for another few seconds lol. Huge tasty clouds and it will typically stretch your bowl a bit more (material lasts longer)

Yea. I run all my vaporizers with water except the mighty.

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'

I used to use fan assist a lot. Fo the last couple months I've been using my Vaporfection Aqua Vape inline vapor conditioner most of the time. My multi-hundred dollar bubblers just sit there looking great while I pull vapor through my $60 glass piece. Must be something about the draw rate with this piece that keeps the milky vapor flowing so well without fan assist.

445 all day!

I switched it up and dropped it down to 440F. The reason being is the +/- 5 degree of error. I figured better to have set to 440 with making it possible to max up to 445. I figured going up to 450F is not the best... starting to think you get some slight non-ignition combustion around 447-449F. :2c:

A few people asked recently about the LE version. IIRC, the features were:
  • 5-Year Quality Guarantee (extends 2-year warranty)
  • Never to be repeated software that displays LIMITED EDITION on screen
  • Unique greeting messages that welcome you during Herbie boot-up
  • Ultra high-end metallic paint job, color: Meteorize
  • Special LIMITED EDITION packaging that doubles as a carry case
Is there anything left off of this list?

[NOTE: rather that go through my notes, I just pulled the info off of this page. Hahahahahahaha!!! "favorite toys kids love!" And according to that site, the LE version has the added bonus of being a "die cast vehicle".:lmao::rofl::lmao::rofl:]

Before it's release, a few people here made requests for higher end temp. Josh went back to the lab and did some trials. In the end, the decision was to not raise the temp as to make it near impossible to get to combustion. There was a blog entry on it, but looks like it got erased in the switch between CMS systems. But I think you are pretty darn safe. :)

Hey fc what are the diameters for the Herbie whip and what is the beat replacement whip people have preferred here ? Preferably one that doesn't warp, stretch or get loose over time. I'm experimenting on some stuff and less resistance would be great.

Edit: does a bigger diameter whip help or hurt the fans performance?

BTW my Herbie hasn't even been below 406° since the day I got it lol. 444° is my favorite and what I use 90% of the time, unless the material is VERY dry then I'll start on 406°... I never, ever vape on an odd number temperature lol. Don't ask

And yet you have an odd number in your name. I'm guessing you have issues with your parents for naming you such and are in therapy to this day because of it?

FWIW, the original beta unit that we had tested ran hotter than production models, and we didn't get it to combust even on max temp. I think there may have still been some wiggle room on the high end for the prodo units, but at the end of the day it's Herbalizer's call, so I'll just STfU.

I had one of the very first production units and it was a flame thrower more than once. I run my replacement at 445 all the time. It's possible they added that 5 degree buffer at least partially due to the 2 Runaway Temperature Events read from my clam after I returned it.

  1. My tempeatures vary alot. Between 365°F to 445 °F depending on strain, inhalation method, etc. Can't really say that about any other of my vaporizers.

Sometimes at 445°F I will get some what looks like scorching. I looked at under a loupe, either 40 or 60x, and there wasn't any ash, but it was def on the verge of combusting. I'm about to crawl out of bed and have a nightcap.

Just a huge rip @400/ then another @420 and bunch more @445F. The 400°F rip was huge and very flavorful and powerful. I can love without the EVo and Sublimator, but not the Herbalizer.

Here is my current setup

For the record, I still think higher temps should've been an option. I prefer to set my own limits.:nope:

Ha! And hey @Buildozer too!

But in all honesty, this device was designed with the medical user in mind, most of whom would not be the aficionado level of user that we see here at FC.

True that FC'ers are the best testing ground to get a vape off of the ground, but in the end, the vast majority of users in the general market will be people that have neither the time nor the inclination to learn most of what we know here. They just need their medication, and that's it.

For those people the temp-limit is essential. Imagine having to explain to your sick grandmother/uncle/neighbor/whatever that has no vaping experience about the boiling points of certain oils, the nature of combustion, etc, etc... More difficult than explaining IRC to your parents.

So it is for the general markets' safety and health that the limit is in place.

But don't worry @Stu ... There is a user over-ride that's hidden in the system, just for power users like you or me.

I'm surprised no one has found it yet, but then again the other Easter Eggs haven't been found either.

To unlock the temp cap, it is just a simple sequence of button presses. It will stay unlocked until power is pulled from the unit (not turned off, but actually unplugged), after which you'll have to re-enter the code. The sequence is:

  1. Temp Up (all temp button presses are only 1°... don't do more or you'll have to start again)
  2. Temp Up
  3. Temp Down
  4. Temp Down
  5. Aromatherapy
  6. Vaportherapy
  7. Aromatherapy
  8. Vaportherapy
  9. B
  10. A
  11. Fan Assist

I think that unlocks a few more things, but I'll leave that up to the rest of you to figure out...

@BRAND1SH - Most people here talk about liking the 7th floor tubing. I've tried even bigger and it can be impressive! In the end I came back to the Herbie whip for a number of reasons. The biggest being how easy it is to change out the mouthpiece for a gong adapter on the end of it.

@nigel are you for real? How hot will it go after killing the limit?
