Welcome to FC! I've had my Pax since Nov 2012, still going strong with no real issues.
Thanks for the welcome :) ..yeah, ive used mine daily since I got it and it still works just as great as the day I got it. The only thing i could kind of bitch about is mine doesnt have the SIMON game :( ..I even bought a solo, after reading up it -thought maybe I was missing out on something; I have a confession to make. I really signed up on here to be able to use the classifieds to sell the solo. My PAX has remained my daily driver.

My pax was my Daily driver for two years. Nothing wrong with giving your opinion. Its gonna be a while til you can use the classifieds....
The Solo is a fav here, but it definitely has its own set of draw backs.

I clean my Pax about twice a week I use it about 6-7 times per day. for years now...I've never used lube.
Oven lid flying off?? Is your Pax missing the small magnets? Or did you mean flying mouthpiece

Did you buy the Pax from ploom?

Hi,
Wow no lube! Thats very interesting.
Yes mine is the real one.
I may have had the mouthpiece pop off once.
Its natural that the heater cover would pop out if it fell with this design.
I wasn't complaining just wondering if any other owners were doing the same thing and were looking for a solution.

Memories of the PAX

Was really hoping they'd come out with an upgraded version by now
You have some suggestions?

1) A mouthpiece that does not get too hot. 2) Less cleaning. Those are my 2 improvements. But I'm not sure if you are asking this rhetorically or being sincere (hard to gauge your attitude based on your last 2 posts). It's not my job to design and research improvements, I'm the customer. If ploom wants to create improvements, they will. Maybe ploom is content with sales and don't want to invest in r&d.

But every vaporizer has flaws, and pax is still my favorite conduction vaporizer. It was my first, introduced me to this vaping world, and was the first time I trully tasted the differences in strains of flowers. Plus, the form factor was way ahead of its time.

Yes I was serious.
Bandoo you posted back to back that is a no no. You have to edit your last post if no one else posted after you.
Hi sorry and thank you for the notice.
How would I do that? I can edit it but I dont see what to do with it then.
Thanks again!

You have some suggestions?

My number 1 suggestion would be to change the charging. Two big things wrong with the charging is that it's proprietary and it charges upside down.

Another thing would be an improvement to the mouthpiece which tends to get stuck if you don't thoroughly clean it on a regular basis. Depending on how you use your PAX this could mean cleaning every day or after every session.

Improved battery life or a user replaceable battery would always be a welcomed addition.

Efficiency. The oven design is great. It's simple, easy to use, and works. But it doesn't work well. The PAX will blow through herb much faster than many of the vapes on the market today. However, I'm not entirely sure what they could do to fix this without radically changing their design.

It's been about 3 years. The vaporizer industry has greatly advanced compared to when the PAX first came out. In 2012 it was the cream of the crop. Today in 2015 it has too much competition to hold that title.

The Crafty and Arizer Air, in my opinion, hold the title as best portables on the market as of today.

Think you hit on some key points there. For the $250 you pay (now $199 apparently) you really deserve a decent charger. That flimbsy shit charger they give you is quite a sad joke. And yeah, it charges the unit upside down -which leads to the mouthpiece getting gunky and having to clean the unit constantly. Charging the unit upright, with the el crappo charger on top resolves the issue, but also makes it very unstable and easily knocked over.
And i have to agree- the pax can blow through your flower stash pretty quick if you pack full oven loads. Not only this, but the flower will lose its flavor quickly; the solution being -pack smaller bowls. But since the load needs to be packed in tight you either need to really pack down some sticky icky until it wont move off the bottom or use the screen trick. Really? Ploom hasnt come up with a decent solution to this obvious problem in 3 years? I bought a pax pusher which works ok, but is really now ideal -not to mention it being like $25 shipped, for a little piece of metal. A variable bowl size would be outstanding.

I do love my pax and use it daily, but ploom as a company has been very lazy the past 3 years. Instead of sending me newsletters about shitty bands and festivals where ploom will be featured, invest in fixing the issues with your product and make it better.

Just figured its about time i review my PAX Ploom, I've had it for about a year. I know lots of reviews for it exist, but more cant hurt.

I only use portable vapes (Easier to conceal in the home) and have tried the following in order: Volcano, Vapir No2, Launchbox, Vapor Genie and the Pax). I currently only own the vapor genie and PAX, but am looking into the lotus.

Alright, onto the review that the folks at pax deserve.

Pros:
-Battery holds a charge. I've had a few days when two or three of my friends vape through 5-6 ovens all in a matter of hours, but only on low to medium settings. Still haven't had it die on me when out and about.

-Battery charges pretty damn fast. Between 1-3 hours for me, depending on how long/ what settings it was used at.

-Fits between .3 and .5g of material, so the size of the oven makes it great for groups.

-Its sleek as hell. This thing fits in the coin pocket of my jeans no problem, and it has that apple quality "Feel" to it.

-Easy to use. Know three things- click the cap, pull the cap and press the button.

-In my own experience, durable. Worst drop was only from 4 feet onto a hard surface and i have had zero issues since said drop. That being said, don't try to "test" its durability.

-Vaped herb is consistent, a little darker near the air path though. Stirring is optional but it helps.

Cons:
-Cleaning. If this is your daily driver, clean it ever 3-4 days. This process takes about 10 minutes for a good, thorough cleaning. If you do not clean your PAX, it will gum up to the point that the mouth piece won't pop up.

-Lube. You have to lube the mouthpiece every once in a while, but the packets of lube do last a while even when left open. I think the lube is PG or VG, the same thing used in e-cig ejuice.

-Water filtration. Very hard to hook this up to a water pipe, but i've found a hookah grommet (A rubber cone with the top chopped off) can fit over the mouth piece allowing for it to fit my set up.

Overall, its my favorite vape so far. If you dont mind the maintenance, I would highly recommend you pick one up. Im not being payed in any way shape or form for this review and just wanted to put it out there for people considering picking up the PAX. This whole review is based ONLY on my experiance with my PAX.

Hello, I bid everyone great vibes.

As a back up vape this is what I am considering.

On Ploom's page they are selling it at 250...

I saw that vape world is throwing it at 200 flat or so. 50 bucks can go a long way for me.

My only concern here is if anyone has purchased from this site before and their level of credibility.
I may be 50 bucks cheap but I do put quality and reliability over anything else. I am concerned of it being a fake product or copy cat attempts (cause I have heard of that happening to good vaporizers.)

Would lovely folks here on FC advise me to just buy from Ploom directly or would vape world be a safe alternative?

Thanks and much love.

I just went to pax website and they have it for $199. It's on top of the page.

Hey guys, I am currently deciding between the Pax and the Alfa. I've never owned a vaporizer but would love to get one that is portable and sleek enough for outside use. I smoke everyday and will be using it on-the-go as well as inside my home (I was hoping it could replace my bong for good). So what should I get? I love the design of the Pax and with the new $199 pricetag it makes it even harder to choose. I was hoping for clarification about the following:

- does the pax charge up fast? I heard the Alfa takes 4-5 hours to charge which is a bit of a bummer IMO.
- is it really that much trouble cleaning if you use it everyday?
- do you guys get used to the drag resistance it has when pulling the vapor?
- is the mouthpiece that much of a problem to deal with?
- how is their customer service like? I've heard that Alfa's customer service isn't as good as people hoped for.

My 2¢.
My fairly new pax charges in less than an hour from near dead.
Not much trouble cleaning if you have the right supplies, there are good howto youtube vids.
The draw is bit tight, but I got used to it. If the diameter was just 2x larger it would be great. The first hint of added resistance, means it's time to clean. 1 week for me, bout a g aday..
I haven't had trouble with the mouthpiece. But I can see where the spring operated mechanism and sensor the mouthpiece controls could become an issue after misuse or many years of service..
I personally have not dealt with their customer service. But all I've heard is if you have a valid unit it's pretty easy to deal with them.

Although I must say I don't think the pax is a good transition from a bong. Unless you have some vaporizing experience, a whip or a bag type of vape would be better to transition.
Then once familiar with vaporizing, go portable.

Cheers

I am excited to see more poeple get their hands on one. I think poeple will be pleased. My tolerance is pretty high. I go though about 2 grams a day sometimes more. The PAX get me to the level of medicated I desire. Sometimes it surprised me how medicated I can get when in public. This is easily attributed to something called Learned Tolerance:

Learned Tolerance
Practicing a task under the influence of a substance increases the speed with which the person develops tolerance. Doing something while under the influence increases the rate at which the alcohol has a diminished effect on performance. The heavy drinker who functions normally when quite intoxicated is an example of this phenomenon.

Learned and environment-dependent tolerance can have important consequences when a person drinks and drives. Repeatedly driving the same route after ingesting low levels of alcohol could improve performance by helping tolerance to develop more rapidly. On the other hand, a driver who has ingested the same amount of alcohol but is driving a new route could lose any tolerance learned, resulting in a diminished ability to drive effectively.
.

Really love this lol, its totally a Captain Jack Spero description!

1. Charges in 2 hours. Never had it take much longer than that.

2.Cleaning it is a pain in the ass for some people. I don't mind it, I use pipe cleaners, alcohol swabs, q-tips, small dental brushes and the MFLB brush. If i use my pax daily, i clean it once or twice a week to keep it performing right. Takes about 10 minutes. If your going to spend $250 ($200 now?) on a portable, you need to commit to properly caring for it. Here's how i do it:

-Pop the mouthpiece off, swab it with alcohol wipe inside and out. Use a q-tip with alcohol to get the inside the mouthpiece.

-Spread a little rubbing alcohol over a pipe cleaner, just enough to make the cleaner feel moist. You dont want alcohol hitting that temp button. Push until screen pops out, repeat once or twice more. If screen is stuck, unfold a paper clip and pop it out.

-Swab the oven with a q-tip lightly soaked in rubbing alcohol. Again, make sure you dont get any alcohol near your temp button. If anything is caked on, i use a stainless steel dental brush to gently scrape away gunk build up. My oven is stained from so much use and some stains just don't come out.

-Using a small dental brush (Dentek makes small bristled brushes that work perfectly for cleaning the mouthpiece slot inside the pax). Once again, swab this little dental brush with a alcohol wipe. You do not want your dental brush to be soaking with alcohol, just moist. Clean around the vapor path where the spring is stored. After that, apply lube to a clean dental brush and lube it up around the spring. Again, dont soak it in lube- just enough to keep it barely moist.

-Scrub the crap out of the oven lid with a rubbing alcohol swab.

-Cannot stress this enough- dont over do it with rubbing alcohol and lube.

That's how i clean my pax, had it for over a year. No problems what so ever.

3. Totally used to it. Your supposed to pack the oven, so the resistance is normal- try small, short puffs to allow for more vapor production.

4. No problem at all. Cleaning it and making sure that you dont get lube/alcohol on the temp button would be your only worry, just be careful with that part. Use a dry q-tip if you get any near that button. If you try to turn on your pax and it slowly slides up, its time for a thorough cleaning.

5. The local store i bought my pax from is an authorized retailer, and they speak VERY highly of their customer service. I have no experience with pax's customer service just because i've had no problems with mine yet (Knock on wood).

Hope this was helpful. Again, make sure not to use too much lube/rubbing alcohol or you risk getting it into the temp button.

You have some suggestions?

If I was Ploom, I'd make a smaller version of the Pax a la V2 Pro style. I think they could do it better, and a pen-style vape that actually works with a .15-.2g cartridge and decent battery would be huge.
