Vaped at home with a wood boxed digital vaporizer, little digital display on the front with a single knob, something you plug a whip into.

Yes very familiar with that style. I've owned one before, mine was Rasta colors with the control. It got the job done.

The FM will get the job done too....got it done today.

So the car charger by Smiss for the FlowerMate is now available. I picked one up, should arrive in 3 days or so.

Pretty sure this will be very useful to some.

so im about to buy one of these, but before i buy one i was just curious whether you can take the mouthpiece out and close the top slider thing over the chamber while the chamber is still hot? or will that piece not stand the heat...

Yes you can as the actual ceramic bowl is underneath and above is silicone and metal threading which does not get very hot.

Has anybody tried the V5 Mini yet? I am in really interested in the standard Flowermate V5, for the price it's an outstanding looking piece of kit, but I am also really tempted by the Indica and the convenience of USB charging. It seems the V5 Mini will have USB and that could be a deal-breaker for me. Anybody have any input on this addition to the range?

@JimmyJump : some pre-production samples are floating around, they attended CES2015 but we will need to wait after Chinese new year to get production units (so approx March/April ETA I've been told)

It has a single cell though so it will be somewhat less powerful than the full size FM5's.

Thanks @KeroZen
I will have to keep an eye on this, my vaping/herb consumption is not regular so a less-powerful battery is not a major drawback. I do like a decent cloud though so if the V5 Mini can give me that I would be massively impressed.

I don't know what to do, the Indica is floating my boat as it ticks a lot of boxes, but the standard Flowermate V5 is so well-priced for what you get. Having USB charging is a major plus point for me though, as it allows me to charge whilst at my PC or driving.
One question I have about the V5 though: it says that after turning on you get a '5 minute session'......if I am vaping on the go it doesn't take as long as that, I'll take maybe 7-10 hits and then be done. I assume that you can turn the unit off during the 5 minute sesh? I wouldn't want it to keep kicking out smell/heat after I finish up.
Also, does the V5 give off a lot of smell? How long does it take to heat up?
I'm torn between Flowermate, Indica and Goboof Alfa. I had a PnP, but it wasn't the right vape for me and I sold it, don't want to rush into buying something else that I get rid of in 6 months time.

Yes of course you are free to turn it off when you are done! Would be pretty annoying otherwise...

As for smell, all vapor is detectable but this device is relatively easy to clean so it doesn't reek as much as say the Ascent when it's cold (the Ascent has a lot of silicone and gather a lot of oil/reclaim inside the glass straws so you need to clean it very often otherwise it stinks)

Heating up is quite fast, didn't time it.

All vapes you listed are good, but the Alfa is more recent and potentially has more quirks than the Indica which is already rev2 and more. I think I prefer the temperature selection in the Indica and I miss low temps with the FM5.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know whether to just stump up and go for the Indica or hang on for the V5 Mini now! Like I say, USB-charging is a great benefit for me so I suppose that narrows it down to those two (had considered the Titan II as well but ruled it out now).
My other problem will be how long until the V5 Mini is available in the UK, whereas I could get an Indica tomorrow if I wanted.

Re: USB charging. There's a car charger (plugs into aux or cig lighter) available now for the Flowermate. Also I find since you get 1.5 to 2 hours of vape time with it charging every night or every couple nights is just fine for me. My friend uses his once a day 5 days a week and only charges it weekly.

So I ordered the connector tool from Wizardpuff. I have confirmed via SMISS that it is their design. I really like it. It is set up so you can have it to function as a male or female connector. I think it is an ingenious design and I really like using it. Don't recommend using it as a mouthpiece, as it gets quite hot. But it is a sturdy, well built mouthpiece that will survive a small explosion. Highly recommend.

Mind making posting a pic of it as a female connector? Also, is it 3 step(10mm,14mm,19mm)?

Should I remove the mouthpiece screen and replace it with a SS one? If so which one? Or should I remove the mouthplace screen completely and not replace it with anything else?

Also, can I use the vape while charging it?

Remove the white filter. Keep the screen. You may want to drill the middle hole in the fixed screen....when filling, pack down to fill only the heating chamber, and not the part with the silicon and the light....

IMHO!

Gardenerjeff.

But, you should really read through the thread as this has all been covered. Always answers to most question there and it rally won't take long.

I have removed the bottom screen on the mouthpiece and just put a tuft of cotton on top of a tamped down load.

Many people have replaced the stock screen with an SS or other screen (I used a titaneum screen) to reduce the airway resistance that comes from the fine-holed stock screen. I don't recommend eliminating the screen altogether, since doing that allows the fine particles to clog the interior holes of the mouthpiece.

According the Smiss, using the vape while charging it may damage the electronics.

You have a video on how to change the screen? And what size screen can you link me to an ebay page?

No video needed -- it's really easy. A 3/8" screen fits nicely. Just unscrew the tip of the mouthpiece, pop out the old screen and slip in the new one. See earlier in the thread for links, or search ebay for 3/8" SS or other screen.
