What kind of batteries do you use?

Be sure to try it with some new NiMH cells, at least 2000 mAh, preferably more, and make sure they are fully charged.

I'm using 2000 mAh Eneloops, they seem to be slighly stronger than the current stock batteries, and can take quite a beating too.

I have often wondered, and Magicflight themselves may be the only ones to answer this. Could it be possible to make an even smaller version that uses AAA nimh batteries. I would buy a it, if they made one.

Hi,

If you are not seeing vapor when applying the battery for 15 seconds without drawing, then your unit is not functioning correctly, and is covered by warranty. With a slow, very light draw, the materials in the trench should gradually become a darker color. Perhaps your unit is operating too cool? Please contact us vial email for product support.

Hi,

It is possible, but not very practical. Currently, a single AAA battery simply does not hold enough power for a reasonable vaping session for one "typical" user -- the battery runs out too fast. A "AAA" battery has about 1/3 of the capacity of a AA battery. The technology in this area has been improving, however, so it may become a more interesting option in the next few years.

I was just wondering if anyone has had the same "problem" that I've been having. For about three weeks now there seems to be a hot spot and a dead spot when I put a battery in. Before this I would put a battery in and it would always be a snug fit, but now I have to rotate the battery while it's inserted before it makes a connection. I can have a battery in there, all the way in, and it won't make a connection until I rotate it to the sweet spot. The hot spot is what's really annoying because almost every time I rotate it to that spot my material will instantly burn. Is it possible for the box to warp it's shape? I did drop it about a month ago, maybe the copper wire on the inside got dislodged? It doesn't really look like it and when I shake it it doesn't rattle or anything.

Up until this point the box has been great and I think it's a freaking great invention. I've already sent an email to magic-flight.com and I'm pretty confident that they'll take care of the problem but I just wanted to see if this is normal wear and tear or if my box is really acting up.

Different batteries have different circumferences, try some really high mah batteries.

I can't see how dropping the LB could cause that problem. Maybe if you threw it at a hard surface, but even then I bet something else would break first. What you are describing sounds like you are using batteries other than the ones that came with your LB, which is what sundaddy is getting at. If you are using original batteries, then something has probably disturbed your copper contact coil, but I'm guessing not.

I had some batteries that fit like that. They worked just fine, but it was so annoying I tossed them.

It actually happens with the batteries that came with the box and the aftermarket batteries that I bought. At first I thought it was a battery problem so I went out and bought four new eneloops but the problem remains. It's almost as if the hole is slightly oval now. It doesn't look that way to my eye but when you put a round battery in there you can tell it's not perfectly round anymore.

*edit* I should note that I've had the box for almost a year now with fantastic results and this has only recently started to happen. Also, I dropped it from about 6 feet and nothing else broke so I kind of doubt it was that but I figured I should include the information just in case.

We are expecting our first beta run of 800 units to finalize in production on the 11th. They will be available for purchase to active FC members about a week after that, assuming no additional snafu. We expect unit costs to be somewhere in the area of $50 to $60, but will not know until they have cleared the packing system (these have been surprisingly hard to build).

Note: Purchase of the limited Beta run power adapter units will be exclusive to the FC membership. People who have a username on FC and at least one post prior to today's date in this thread will get priority to purchase exactly one power adapter unit (should fit any Box). Once these units are sold out, it will probably be at least another 6 weeks before the finalized production units are available.

I will post updates as the date of release of the Beta power adapters nears.

The simplest fix may be to simply get some Imedion batteries. They have the largest diameter of any that we currently know about and are very good solid batteries. They will probably fit exactly snug.

Failing that, contact us via email.

I have this same exact problem the only thing is i have only had my box since the 8th of october instead of a year like you. My LB has not been dropped or anything and has been well taken care of since i have owned it. It is an issue with both the batteries it came with, which i believe are imendon 2400's since i very recently got my box, as well as some rayovac 2400 mah batteries i picked up at walmart to see if it was only in the batteries.

The box still functions fine i just assumed that this was a widespread issue that everyone has to deal with.

I've got to put a little upward pressure on my batteries to make good contact, but it works fine. I don't mind.

I've had my LB for about 8 months now and its gotten heavy use over the time. Its accrued quite a buildup under the trench. I've tried just running a few AA's for ~30 sec at a time to burn off as much resin as possible, but it seems its still pretty caked up. I noticed the tube wouldn't clean very well with isopropyl alcohol, but brake cleaner flushed everything right out. I'm hesitant to use anything on the LB itself. Is there any glue used to hold the screen of the trench to the walls of the LB? Would it be safe to use brake cleaner on it? A water rinse would remove any of the brake cleaner residue but I'm worried about any glues used in the internals. Or is the screen just pressed into the walls?

I use the supplied brush, but it only gets whats above the trench. During the burnoff I can even start to smell the wood cook when I pull the battery (using the powerex 2700mah with maha charger, 3 charges then a refresh/analyze), but I still can see a lot of resin built up that I'd like to flush out somehow.

Don't bother running batteries though it to burn off the honey under the trench. That area will never get hot enough and you might be shortening your battery life. Why do you feel the need to clean it out? I just let mine build up, which is what Magic-Flight recommends.

No matter which brand you pick, brake cleaner contains more toxic ingredients than I'd care to think about. I would never use it on anything like a vaporizer, especially one that is made primarily from wood, and in particular I would not use it on parts that I put in my mouth.
