Should I wait on getting an Arizer solo due to the defects or am I good?

Heck No , the sooner you get it , the sooner you'll be enjoying it .
You're in Cali , order from PIU . Randy will have it at your front door real quick . And IF and I mean IF , you have issues , he'll take care of you real quick . ime

It's been 3 years , since I've done biz. with PIU .

Screens are worth it imo, but I would get those atmos glass screens previously mentioned.

Do you just put screens under the bud/on top of where the bud would be if there wasn't a screen? And how long do screens last/have to be replaced?

Hey guys, so I am going through with the purchase on Puffitup. Randy said he can either do a solo combo with grinder screens and priority shipping for 139 or without the extras for 135. What do you guys suggest (I already have a Santa Cruz Shredder grinder, but are the screens worth it/how do you use them)

Thnaks a lot !!
Im still waiting on a reply from friday night. Sounds like a great offer for 139. Hope I hear back from him tomorrow. :/

My mistake haha. That offer was actually given to me by Vapor Nation. i've been emailing different suppliers all day and accidentally thought that was from Puffitup. Haven't got my email back from Randy either so don't worry!

Yoduh, most vendors are closed over the the weekend.

Some folks use regular screens with the Solo and some not, it keeps herb from entering the stem. Those up above that look like the Atmos screen, are to be used as a spacer. I have used cotton as a spacer or a screen for that matter when in a pinch.

Anyone bought the Vape case for the solo? Is it worth it? Looks pretty good, if it keeps the smell tucked away.

I bought one, and have already used it. I carry it inside my purse. I really like it to keep things organized and safe.

How is it? Bulky or not too bad? Smell proof (if I keep a pill bottle of weed inside as well)

I got the Vape case package from PUI. It does a pretty good job containing odors and definitely protects well. It is probably a bit overpriced, but a solid case.

It's a little big. It certainly isn't stealthy, but I carry a really big purse. I took a small Tightvac container in it, and I never smelled anything.

I agree with this assessment. It is a bit pricey.

I recently bought a plano four pistol case for my cloud and its HUGE was only like $12. They might also have a one pistol case that will fit the solo

You put the screen into the stem before you put any flower in. Replace them when they clog and airflow is reduced or when you feel like it.

Alright cool. And I noticed the shape of the stem/bowl, when you pack it, don't you have to flip it over and back into the Solo body, thus ground up herb falling in?

Try the first hit or two upside down, the trichomes melt and hold everything together... or do what I do and sit a screen on top after you pack it.

Although my Solo has never been dropped or abused in any way, nor have I ever tried to squeeze in O-rings below the cap, I had the unfortunate experience of finding the baseplate on both of my Solos having cracks around the four screws. My guess is that the technician got a little over-zealous when they were assembled and over-tightened the screws.

A couple of folks had sent me PMs asking about what screws I used to replace the OEM ones on the bottom of my Solo. So I thought I would post here so all can benefit.

Here are a couple of pics taken through my my 10x jeweler's loupe showing the cracks around the screws:

So I went to my local Ace Hardware store and bought the following:

- Panhead Machine Screw, 2mm x 8mm, p/n 4306, 25 cents each.
- Flat Washer, 2mm, p/n 4298, 17 cents each.

The new screws and washers help alleviate some of the stress that was induced by the original screws. The new screws went in nice and snug with little effort.

Hopes this helps out.

That's the ticket alright. And as @OF mentioned some felt works fine to cover the screw heads.

The repair kit that I provide is pretty much as you found. Although, with mine the original screws are used as the washers have a slight punch indent which the original screws counter sink a little.

As you can see my Solo has taken a beating on those screws. All corners are cracked and 2 are missing hunks as well. I just installed the washers and covered. For the most part I keep my Solo in a stand so no problem with the felt falling off. As long as there is some plastic left on the inside, the washer will still hold it down as you can see in the picture.

Of course my stands are made to be repair kit friendly.

IMO, not a bad idea to install BEFORE the cracks develop. But to each their own.

Just ordered a black one from namastevapes.co.uk

They had a fathers day 10% off special, so I couldn't resist. Ended up being ony aprox £121, that's about $200 to my American friends!

It will no doubt arrive soon. Any top tips for a first time SOLOer?

Actually have a few more questions before my cape arrives in the mail.

When I get it out of the package, do I charge to a 100% first and then do the burn off cycles, or go straight to burn off without charging? And, do I open the top cap when doing the cycles?

Lastly, say you don't want to get real baked and go through a 12 minute sesh, can you turn off half way and then come back later, or you have to empty the stem whenever you turn off the solo?

Fully charge first (always a good plan with this class of battery). Yes, open the top up, you don't need to bake the cover. In fact many of us remove the cover anyway since it can get in the way.

Yes, pushing both buttons when on shuts it off. You can get another hit or two as it cools or pull the stem out if you wish. You can resume as you wish.

BTW, after it's on (in 'idle') if you push the right button (down) for a few seconds it restores to the last level used before shutting down. It becomes almost automatic, push both buttons, let it boot up, then press the down key to set your favorite level.

Not to worry, you'll figure it out.

Hey guys. Here is a long awaited alternative to getting your hands on a Gong from PV. Very sturdy and works EXTREMELY well.
Just posted this in the DIY thread as well.

Tired of waiting to get your hands on a Solo Gong?
Here ya go.

All you need is a strait stem + a small O ring (e-cig 510 size worked for me) and, the most important ingredient, and Airwick solid room deodorizer. Then your all set and can have one in as little as 1/2 hour.

airwick_zpscc6139cb.jpg

Don't worry if it's not done yet, just discretely swipe it for a few minutes. Pull off the smelly crap as you only want the bottom of the post. You will put it back later and no one needs to be thew wiser.

DIYGong02_zpsb4fe9a16.jpg

I used a hack saw and carefully made my way around the wanted section.

DIYGong04_zpsde2f929f.jpg

Followed with some sand paper to smothen and square off the ends. Cleaned it up later.

DIYGong05_zpsfa52636c.jpg

Here is the stem, O ring and newly cut piece of Gong.

DIYGong06_zps87e5bc5b.jpg
DIYGong07_zps910774b4.jpg

Next I use a cut off toothpick to push the O ring under the Gong adapter. This is a little finicky and need to push a little at a time. This really firms up the Gong from movement. Makes a secure connection which any 14mm glass will join with perfectly.

DIYGong12_zpse39f28d9.jpg

There you have it. Can use dry as well and can just leave in place if one so desires.

EDIT: Don't forget to put that smelly crap back on top of the stand and put it back where you got it!!

Enjoy.

I use the stock stems and use them stuffed full or with just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl and still get great results so I want to ask;
what do the domed screens or shorter bowl really accomplish ? what are you all just looking to improve upon ? What am I missing on this one ?
Im under the imperssion a domed screen pushes the load closer to the heater and extracts more efficiently. Other wise its a way to mesure my load without scale.

Thanks a lot, the info you guys are providing is definitely helping! I've read bout the burn-offs, but there's been mixed posts, how many cycles on temp 7 would you suggest, and do I need to do any wiping off the body or just burn off and begin?
I was one of those of needed quite more burnoff cycles, but I did get to pure hot steel taste after 2-3 CHARGES. Both of my solos the same.
