What is the best way to load a vapexnail with massively gooey concentrate? I'm going to order some glass stir rods, and cut 'em down to size. Then I can slime up one end and just place it carefully in the nail, and then put the whole thing into the EVO. Does that sound like a bad thing? I don't want to do that if it will explode or anything.

I use the cheap $8 curved steel dabber/pick that Vapexhale sells directly. (Looks like plastic but it's a wood handle)

The curved end works quite excellently for gooey concentrates.

To get the sticky concentrate off the dabber,
I do something a bit similar using the EVO's heater. I will pre-heat the nail for a few seconds in the unit, then take it out and curve the gooey concentrate into the "smile" cut" loading slit. After a few seconds it should drip off the dabber (if not, need to pre-heat the nail more probably). You can also smear any excess on the sides of the walls of the VXN.

I personally use the curved end for the VXN & the straight end of the pick for flower & the ELB.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

I have a dabbing tool similar to the one VapeXhale, but with a wooden handle. I scoop up my tiny dab of goo on the end then hold it over the "smile". A brief hit with a torch on the metal above your goo will heat it up enough to slowly drip into the opening. Mind your aim.

I have wus-lungs, and cannot do huge dabs - that would have been too big for me. Maybe its my former 30-yr-habit of smoking cigs, but that hit would have had me rolling on the ground, coughing up my lungs.

Crumble-type consistency concentrates are definitely awesome for really tiny dabs. Just plop a little pin-prick crumb down the loading cut and you're good to go. My gooey concentrate sessions always tend to be bigger load sizes because it's trickier.

  • New EVO "shield" on the way...the new outer shell gets hot as hell! Thank you SM for your dedication!

I love my EVO and I don't mind it at all but I am really surprised that VXL released a vaporizer that gets so incredibly hot to the touch on the top half of the unit after little use. Like I said I love my EVO and am not trying to start shit, I know not to grab it by the top half and do not really share it with anyone but I have to think that there are some people out there that are going to burn the shit out of themselves taking high temp dabs with the EVO.

The new heat shield makes it where you can hold it at the top with no problem its soft to the touch as well

I would disagree with incredibly hot. None of the VXL offerings has ever burned me, from the original beta unit to the EVO. There are vaporizers that get dangerously hot in places, but the EVO doesn't hold a candle to them and is easily handled by the 'cool end'.

It gets hot but I grab it all the time, never had a problem with actually burning myself.. Then again I have a fairly sizeable layer of callous in the way of the heat.. I have noticed though that the EVO will heat the glass joint on my rig up to about 150 fahrenheit, shouldnt be hot enough to break anything, but it makes me a little more careful with how long i leave it in :p

I doubt that they'll come with the heat shield. It is by no means necessary, just a nice option for those that want it.

You won't burn yourself, it's not instant scald hot by any means. Don't get me wrong, the top does get hot, and I wouldn't want to pick it up by the top half. But if I touch it, no harm done. Once you put your wristbands on the unit, your brain sees that as a very clear divider and will automatically grab the lower half. Well, mine does at least ;)

Vapes on vapes on vapes!
Just to add my :2c:. I grab the top of the unit and demo my reaction as I quickly release due to the heat every time I'm vaping with someone who hasn't used it before. I have my bands set up as a reference point to grab below (as suggested in this thread, can't remember specifically who offhand, my bad). In comparison to the other vapes that I've owned: Cloud, The Plenty, and still own the VAP 2.0 it has the least potential to burn. I won't go in to too much detail, but when you're working with high temperatures you have to be at least somewhat careful.

This reminded me of a post I made when I first got my VXNs.
I wholeheartedly agree. I've had quite a good weekend thanks to the VXNails. My only  moment was when I thought one of the nails had something on the exterior bottom of the glass and I tried to wipe it off using my finger... I had been cleaning the nail at he time and had the EVO on max with the nail in for a while. I'm no stranger to a little finger burn though so I got some water and ice on it ASAP and there's not even a visible mark on my finger the next day. I wasn't quite in my best state of mind at the moment it happened and that's why I failed to remember that when I am cleaning the nail on max the bottom (especially) will be hot. ;)
Basically I had been cleaning a nail on max for minutes and took it out and immediately touched the bottom with my finger. It was very hot, but after some cold water/ice it was already gone by the next day. This example is on the extremes too because I was touching (to my knowledge) basically the hottest material you will may come in contact with while using this unit.

Edit: I keep getting beat to the punch. :p

Edit 2: For clarity, I really do understand your concern. I just don't think it's something you should worry about hurting yourself on. If the temperature is uncomfortable they have a solution. I would definitely consider it an accessory rather than a necessity for the EVO. So I don't think they'll include them with the unit.

Ok, welp, I guess I had no choice but to order 2 VapeXNails. LOL. Still don't have the concentrate, hope I didn't waste $50 bucks.

Now to read how to use concentrates in this thing LOL :-). I have never messed with it before.

Oh quick question, let's say it's not concentrate, and it's hash or something, would that still work in the VapeXNail or is that something better put with flowers in an ELB? What am I looking for in terms of the concentrate?

Minimal/no residue in your oils. Shatter, wax, etc are fine, also most ice waxes seem to do alright in there. Hash is probably better crumbled with a little bit of herb in the ELB or crumbling it and doing the 2cap.

Thanks :-). I don't really have a choice on what concentrate I'm getting so when I get it I'll probably post up a picture. As mentioned before they did use the term "wax" :-).

Hope it's awesome

I had a strange light show with my EVO today. The unit heated up quickly. But the light never went from red to green. To the touch it was warm. I turned it off then back on. It flashed 3 red flashes then a pause.. then 3 red flashes again.. I just turned the unit off. Turned it back on right away and it stayed a solid red. I turned the dial all over the spectrum and it never went green even at the "coldest" setting. Tried it a few hours later and it worked. Light turned green, heat is fine. :hmm:

If anyone knows what this means I would very much appreciate the info.. :peace:
