I think I clean too often to seek reclaim... I hate smoking dirty pieces and they rarely go more than a day or two.

I too clean extremely often (once a week). But the cotton helps trap the particles and mess, and prevents my glass from getting dirty so fast. I just pulled a piece of old cotton from my 18-14mm angled adapter, and there's a clear line where the cotton caught the reclaim, and the glass below it is much cleaner

ok i understand how the oil is wrapped in the cotton but why cotton? aren't you breathing in and maybe burning the cotton? is this a special type of cotton?

It's important to clarify - only use 100% Organic cotton - do not buy it if it doesn't clearly state 100% organic. No, it does not burn, even when vaping at high temperatures, the cotton does not burn.

I believe some people also have tried hemp fibers and have reported positive results (and a better taste when vaping the reclaim), but I don't know how common that is (i am curious to try hemp fibers over cotton, but haven't gotten around to it yet).

Now I'm off to try some super saturated reclaim cotton for my post-work session.

so to smoke shatter I NEED cotton? or can I put the shatter in on its own? what about mixed with herb?

Thanks!

You need to acquaint yourself with the rules here, especially the "Be Nice" section. Warning point issued for flaming.
Go back and read my posts or I'm done helping you. I have answered your question already

Or you're done helping me? uhhhhh....blow me. I don't see where you posted any video and your other post doesn't clarify whether or not you can blaze the shatter on it's own. You simply recommend using cotton and say it can be mixed with herb. I'm looking for another opinion on whether or not cotton is NEEDED. Clearly from the conversation in my prior post I am confused about the cotton aspect. + This forum isn't called "Ask @VapeNStone" so get a grip and don't be a dick.

Jman5280,
Here I vaped some reclaim for everyone.

Dude you can use it with anything with thc in it. But you won't be able to just load the concentrate in like a pen. You'll have to mix it with some herb or use cotton.

Here since you have a problem reading I quoted the posts of mine that answers your questions 100%

The other funny thing is this video is posted right on this page lol(twice now)

I also reported you for your name calling. :)

@Jman5280 all your questions have been answered in the last two pages. "So get a grip and don't be a dick".

I had a question regarding using epoxy to re-attach a stir stick. Maybe I'm being overcautious here, but I know that vapors from epoxy are poisonous (as is clearly stated on the package). Since the air intake holes are located right next to the hole for the stir stick, is there any fumes inhaled after an extended lotus session? I've heard some mention "high-temp" epoxy, but then others just seem to use regular epoxy.

I understand that since the flame isn't hitting the bud and therefore it is butane free vaping, but what kind of vaping involves butane? or is it just butane free compared to lighting a bowl?

how does the lotus compare to hitting dabs on a nail and dome rig?

Many (most) of the vapes that use butane pull in some fumes due to the proximity of the ignition to the vapor path. The LOTUS heats from the top but pulls in the air from the bottom, avoiding any butane fumes in the vapor path. Brilliant design I think. Max Jitter done goooood... ;)

I'll have to say that I am concerned about the cracking plates and am investigating possible causes. It may be simple over-heating but I am not assuming that.
In the meantime anyone's plate that is under a year old and hasn't been damaged by over-heating can be replaced under warranty. Send an email with a picture of your plate and your shipping info to
contact@mendovape.com

Well, count me as one of the ones with a cracked plate! It's been working fine, but I decided to inspect a bit closer on mine after looking at the few recent pictures of lotus plates....

I'll snap a picture later, but strange, my crack was hiding - looks like mine extends along one of the grooves, pretty much the entire length of the groove, but it's a tight crack, then it hops out of the groove, and into the middle of the plate, about 0.5 mm long from the corner of one groove inwards.....

I wasn't quite sure until I used a toothpick to press on one side of the crack and saw it move :ugh:

Thankfully I decided to play it safe and purchased a backup plate. (Are backup plates covered by a 1 year warranty as well?)

I'll be sending an email to Mendo shortly.

Here's a picture of the damage (1-o'clock on the dial)

Edit 3 - interesting, took some pictures of the inside of the Lotus while replacing the plate. Note my replacement plate was BENT 45 degrees on one side of the plate when I took it out of the envelope it was shipped in! I hope this doesn't affect performance/life of the plate!

Edit 4 after replacing my plate:

I think that the brown color is from impurities in the butane. The plate is pure nickel. If anyone takes the plate off and looks at the underside, it isn't the same color as the top. I guess that a lot of the color is due to crud (scientific name) in the butane.

See the attached photo of my cracked plate. Top and bottom both have blueish color on outer edges. Center where heat hits is no longer glossy but has a matte finish. The only color difference I see are the golden brown outer haze, and the splatters of what you call crud. There is a slight golden haze outside the blue haze on the bottom of the plate, but it's there.

Awesome pics! I was thinking today... I am a righty and usual have the handle at three and stir stick at 9 so im all set to lift and stir in one motion.... could the positioning of the plate affect longevity? I could just be vaped... lol

I doubt plate positioning has anything to do with it. I know it's hard to see in the left picture, but on the right, when you see the plate upside down - my crack is at 7o'clock, it's end is actually that bump where the screw hole is. I think it might have something to do with screw tension, or it could be a manufacturing defect in the current batch of plates, since it seems like a lot of us are having problems recently....

Also note, my plate was making that strange 'clicking' sound when I first started to heat it up for the past few days/week or so. I had thought that was normal, but apparently not. My new plate is not clicking at all - probably heat causing the plate to flex where the crack was...

My LOTUS is ghetto!
However it will get you or anybody else extremely medicated beyond reason!

I will use mine until it or die!

Haha, Indeed, it's changed several of my friend's minds on vaping. What they thought was just some exotic way of smoking herb, is suddenly a mindblowing experience.

I can't imagine living without my Lotus anymore. I'm a little worried because the replacement plate was bent, and has a noticeable bump where the dent was once installed. I'm hoping it doesn't crack before I get a replacement plate from Mendo!

Luckily at least I still have my (hardly used since buying the Lotus) DV Ascent. I can always resort to using that while waiting on replacement parts. (Not like when my first Ascent died, and I had NO working vape).

I love seeing your setups. I can't wait to share my crazy contraptions once they arrive.

My 6.5" stem arrived today, with the WPA handle.

The stem looks great. I don't think I'll be keeping the WPA handle on, though. It feels really flimsy when I'm using it, and it doesn't "lock" on or anything. Is it supposed to? I noticed it said to align it with the magnet in the WPA.

The stem kind of just wiggles around on the lip below the magnet, and above the second o-ring, which means when I go to pull out the WPA, it feels like it could go flying out of the handle.

My WPA had the handle pre-installed. it 'locks' into the WPA stem itself. I have knocked it loose a few times, it seems like I have to push hard but it finally 'snaps' tight into place. I believe I had to apply pressure to the inner part (which makes contact with the WPA) to get it to snap into place.

I use my handle sometimes, it works just fine, I'm leaving mine in place. But typically, I simply lift my 18-14mm angled reducer.

Bollocks had a really good look at my plate and have 2 tiny cracks one at 12 o'clock and the other at 6 both coming from the middle of the ridges. Only use lighter provided.
I just inspected a plate I recently took off my v2 lotus, and it also has small cracks forming, you can see light shining through if you hold it up. Definitely some kind of stress happening to these.

Omf, this isn't looking too good! What happened to my luck! I bought an Ascent, hoping they had fixed the issues, it died after 1 month. I bought the Lotus as a replacement because it's a simple device with very few parts that can break. Now the Lotus plate cracked after 43 days of use (though realistically, it probably cracked a week earlier but I didn't notice). Is this a recurring theme? Do most vapes only survive 1 month on average? No wonder most people have multiple vapes!

I should note to people that V2 and V3 of the Lotus are identical, except for the Patent number printed on the bottom of the unit in the metal ring.

If mine gets any uglier I'll be stoked.
Shows that I'm getting my monies worth!

A few cracks I can deal with as long as it still works.

Zig Zags are another option.
Cheaper and you can buy a life time of papers for under $50?

I noticed my Lotus has been heating slower, and the heat is more evenly distributed once I replaced the plate. The crack allowed the Lotus to heat faster than it should (and possibly intake some of that butane through the crack?). I get 4 draws, where I would previously get 2. Using similar heating patterns both times.

Zig Zags are other option.

The plates can be replaced, and are under warranty. I know it's a bit of a hassle to mail stuff, but it seems that Max is trying to work out the issue here, hopefully this will be fixed soon. The reoccurring pattern I see happening is most vapes are fairly new on the market, and many have come up with issues after release and mass use, time frame is random on how long this takes to manifest. I have run through many vapes trying to find what works best for me and only a couple have managed to maintain proper long term working status with out any additional tinkering, and they are plug in stationary vapes. I hope this gets worked out, might be a thickness issue? I noticed my plate started puckering in the middle pretty fast after I got it. I might have overheated it in the beginning, but its hard to know for sure.

Yea my plate started to pop up and down instantly when I got it. It worried me so much that I actually sent an email to mendo and they said just keep an eye on it until it cracks.
