I love the modularity of this piece, but if you want a recycler with good vortex twister action, this one doesn't look like it will as the water feed is below the vortex chamber. Ask for a function video if that's important to you.

I was so impressed with my last piece from American Glass Studio that I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this:

Hope its not a disappointment :)

He has a video listed with the piece. Its kind of hard to tell but it appears to work.

I don't wanna crush any hopes, but this looks more like a "kinda works" to me. Maybe its just not enough water? There is no vortex action, thats for sure (that little inverted beaker never sees any water whatsoever).

Yea.. Im hoping a little more water. Its hard to see. The other piece I bought from him is fantastic.. I just kind of figured he had it down. Ill mention that in my email to him.

You can see water recycling, I just cant tell if anything is going into the beaker and vortexing. I emailed the guy, we'll see.

So the dhgate seller of the $120 fake toro recycler I paid for wants to extend the shipping deadline by a week, it's their first reply to my inquiries. I see no reason to agree to this besides wishful thinking. What do those with more dhgate experience think, is there a chance it's real?

"Seller(btoc_jewelry) proposed to postpone the shipment deadline.

Please note that if the seller fails to provide tracking number by shipment deadline, this order will be automatically cancelled. If you agree on this proposal, the new deadline will go into effect. Do you agree?

Current Shipment Deadline: 2014-03-03 10:43
Proposed Shipment Deadline: 2014-03-10 10:43
Delay Reason: Products are out of stock"
I would go with the flow on that, at least the seller is giving you a date and what's one week? If he doesn't come through at that date then cancel for sure. The seller I got messed up with never even bothered extending the shipping date, just told me through messages that basically he didn't know when he would have more d020's in stock to ship me (after three weeks of having it marked as shipped).
True. Unless you need that liquid cash refunded ASAP, just wait the week.
It does not seem like any undue risk to your money, so if you feel good about it i would go for it!
What's a week?
If they don't come through you are not out of any money, just another week of waiting!

Thanks for taking one for the team on this one!!!

Okay you guys talked me into it. Another week but no more!

So today is the new deadline on my toro k/o, and nothing has shipped yet. I'm a bit freaked because the status of my order is "paid", "Seller has processed the order; refund request is declined."

What has me worried is that it doesn't show up as an item under the "awaiting shipment" heading in the sidebar, just under the "refund and dispute" part. I have requested to dhgate and the seller to cancel and refund. I guess I just need to trust that I will get a tracking # or a refund by tomorrow?

What day is it in China lol, looks like my 1st dhgate order could be a a bit on dodgy side.

edit: I got a message from dhgate (dated March 11 so it's already tomorrow there):

"This email is to inform you that your Order XXXX has been applied canceled. Please check the following details for the reason of cancellation:
Refund Reason: Seller failed to ship the item
Normally, we will arrange the refund to you within 2 business days, and a notification email will be sent to you upon refund completion. If you experience any problems, please contact us immediately."

So that's good news, I'll update when I get a refund.
I think the seller just wanted to borrow some $ and never planned on shipping anything!

@grokit are you still able to dispute it further with DHgate? or is that no longer an option? I would pursue what ever options are still open, even try to contact the seller again. I hope you don't get ripped off. Keep trying to stay positive. If nothing else, is there a place for feedback where you can post about your experience?

I'd seen video of this piece in the past, and I have to agree. I've never understood recyclers designed like this one, where the water is drawn in beneath the upper chamber. Why create what looks like a vortex chamber where the water bypasses it altogether?

Okay so on that fake toro, they never shipped it and now I

Wow that sucks bro. Glad you got the cash back though.

@PoopMachine I didnt want to say anything, but when I first saw that pic of the recycler I thought to myself that no way it was going to vortex. Doesnt mean its not functional as a recycler though.

I've got to admit, me too (only because the money had already been spent!) Of course, a vortex is not the only purpose of a recycler, and many recyclers do not vortex. But my understanding is that if such things matter to you, it's important that the water comes in to the top half of the vortex chamber, possibly at an angle.

Yes, BUT...Helix has air inlet carb holes positioned to create that smoke vortex, not sure that recycler does....

Not enough vortex science in our vapor delivery designs, IMO...I want more vortex's damnit..:evil::evil:

I actually caved and ordered the knockoff Helix with a D020 from DHgate, but I have no idea how I'm going to use it, I don't have any WTs with a modular mouthpiece. Edit, I may be able to pair it with my PNP....hmmmmm.:science:

Ive been thinking about the design and perhaps the intention isnt to create a water vortex but rather one with the smoke/vapor?

Like this but different. Obviously the taper is inverted for a helix piece though.

Just got my d020 and damn , this thing is solid. I haven't vaped through it yet, I'm waiting for after work, but I'm definitely excited. :science:
Oh, I ordered from dhgate and it took 7 days to ship to Seattle.

You're lucky, I'm on the East Coast, ordered on 3/2 and the thing isn't even in the US yet according to the tracking # today.

I used to have a piece with a natural perc that I always used dry, the shape made the vapor vortex up into the mouthpiece. It was by far the smoothest hitting dry piece I've ever used. I would kill bowls in one or two hits and it was more flavorful than using my diffused glass.

To all those looking at the helix chambers Grav Labs makes a "premix" chamber in small and large sizes, 14mm and 18mm respectively. I assume premix chambers would have a similar effect; the large is pretty big, a local shop used to carry them.

That Simba fritted oil rig is really tempting me even though I told myself I was done buying glass until the law changes here. I really don't need any more expensive paraphernalia sitting around but that thing is nice and I have wanted to try a frit for a long time.
