Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

I purchased an Ascent about 2 months ago, my first one just stopped working but there customer service all though slow, was great and quickly sent me a new one. I have mixed feelings though, I feel that the high just does not last good. Also it uses a ton of bud, When I use a little amount it just does not seize to amaze me. My Ascent is just not doing it for me.

Have you tried reading through the pages of this thread? Many folks felt like you. It takes a while to sometime catch on to this vape. Practice and some education may help.

Read through Nigel and Of's posts, it helped me.

Yeah I have read this threat before i purchased it, after i purchased it. My first unit I thought was defective because I was not getting a thick vapor, but I learned to draw slower and longer. It just upsets me by how much herb I have to use to feel up a full bowl. I dont like using cotton because I feel like it gives off a weird taste sometime. The temps I use are usually 386, 410, 420, 430.....Maybe I am taking pulls too quickly apart. Maybe need to wait longer for chamber to produce more vapor.

Waiting will help a bit. My advice is not to fill the bowl, and to use the glass oil jar as a spacer. I normally load .07 g this way.

Do that, wait ~30secs between hits.

And you don't have to fill the full chamber to produce decent vapor imo.. ~0,2 is enough, just put it down slightly. For less or slightly better overall results think about the glass flowers.

Me don't likes the glass jar though.. too much resistance, bad vape imo.

Yeah I just only get maybe 5-8 hits when I use like 0.2-0.4. I am going to try it again here in a few with the oil jar as a spacer. What is the consensus starting temp? 386? Or does it need to be higher since I am going to use less herb? I am currently cleaning my glass pieces.

Sorry, I am new too this. Although, I have read the thread for a LONG time I have never posted until today. I have another question, Should I grind up my herb with grinder or try and break up with hands. Do you all find that chunk of herb work better? or when its more like wet sand? I just have some extremely wet stuff right now so i have to kind of use the grinder. too sticky!

If your herb is wet, you will need to let it air out and dry a bit. Use a grinder, mine is the consistency of cornmeal. If that's too fine, because you get bits of herb in your mouthpiece, don't grind that fine.

Lid off of oil canister if I am using that as a spacer?

...I always use a grinder, with all my vapes....this facilitates even air-flow...

I used the oil canister as a spacer and I always waited a little in between hits. It did work better and I did get pretty good vapor production. Again though, didn't last as long as I wished. Received around 6 hits.....Firing it up again to 390 with probably 0.4 last time tried 0.2

HELP ME!!!
Ordering a pair of water tools, one straight 14mm one to use in place of the stock mouthpiece and with my bubbler when I feel like it, and one for my vast majority 18mm tube collection.

For the 18mm one I'm unsure whether I should get the straight tool or the U tool, is there a consensus as to which is better?

I get good results without any extras. The oil jar works well but left some really stubborn stains in the chamber though so I quit using it, and the flowers just kept breaking so I said fuck that. Now, I just pack the shit out of my material with a wood dowel and do some light sippin' and micro tokin'.

Very pleased with the results this gives me.

Straight for herbs, U for liquid.

If you read back a page, you will see my rational for why the straight is the better tool UNLESS you are wanting to use viscous material.

I've noticed that after many comparisons, glass flowers give me more vapor than when using the glass oil can. Also I get better results with well dried out buds.
i found this to be the same for me too

Agreed. Dry herb is very important. As is giving time between hits for the heat to recover.

I think everyone who's tried the glass flowers found them 'the best' for the job? Any flower users go back to the little jars or beads?

Could someone post a picture of what these glass flowers look like? Do they work better then canister?

Yup, those are the ones I used. They're actually pretty common it seems. Glass beads work OK too, be careful of lead crystal and surface colorings (especially the metallic looking ones). The disadvantage with them is like the oil jars, not a lot of surface area for the mass. The flowers excel here, the important part, the ability to rapidly transfer more heat into the load during the hit.

IMO given the purchase price of the Ascent, investing less that $10 more in flowers to experiment with should be on everyone's list sooner or later.

Regards to all.

Another question for everyone, and please elaborate and I would like to hear from a lot of different people, so its open for discussion. How are oil and wax in the Ascent? Do the oil jars work great, is the feeling better, does oil or wax last longer? Can you only use the Oil canister's for them? How do wax and oil compare to dry herb? Lastly, What is the best out of all three; flower, oil, wax?

Does Davinci have a coupon code for FC members? Like 10 percent off or anything.

I've heard that oils and waxes don't do well but I haven't tried any yet. I've got some QWISO but I was waiting for some more feedback about using oils with the Ascent. I've got a glass globe atomizer on order that I want to try first. I don't want to take a chance of gunking up my Ascent, it can be hard to clean at times. Some people have suggested using cotton with oils and waxes. I too would like to hear more from people who have tried vaping oils and waxes.
