The HI

Some day, I'll have to post a video of my 1-gallon vapor-lung Alan inspired me to make! It's made out of a hard plastic bulk pet food dispenser which you can pull on super hard without collapsing the container. Even better, no tape or special bag attachments needed, you simply screw the top down over the bag to create a seal. It's about a gallon and has a hand-made fabric pull handle, combined with the HI, it's some serious business! However, whether you can actually manage to take a whole gallon of dense vapor at once, that's another story! 5 gallon water bottle with a trash bag and a pull cord maybe? Now that's an idea! Definitely will need a huge bowl for that though.

Alan's also inspired me to use hemp filters, in addition to the water filtration I'm a big fan of (I like cool hits with some humidity, hot+dry just kills me). Hemp-filtered-vapor-bong-lung-hits are now my go-to choice with my HI. This is what hanging out with Alan does to one! There's no going back to just plain old, regular, vaporizing.

Some better pics of my HI. I'm really digging it so far. Especially with the VK.

Well, I'm pretty excited. I have had this custom made mushroom micro bubbler piece for over 10 years and haven't used it in quite a long time because, well, it's a combustion piece. Today I was poking around my vape stem supplies and came up with a simple but effective solution that allows me to now use said piece with the HI using a SS tip and some silicone tubing to secure it inside the bowl. :D I couldn't be more stoked that it works!!

@vorrange - I need to make a small batch of HILites very soon now that I have the jig made.

Thanks for posting the photos and video Madcap79. Glad you are enjoying it.

@jambandphan03 - Thanks for posting the video. Nice when you can still use old combustion pieces. I recently found that I could take a silicone sleeve and fold one end inside out so that it creates a larger diameter that will fit perfectly down into my very first wooden pipe. The inside diameter of the tubing constricts down a bit and stops the screen from going any farther down. The tubing also fits into a 14mm fitting since the roll makes it larger in diameter. The cheapest and simplest tube that I make since is just a sleeve and a screen.

@VoltageKeeper - Glad to hear I can help inspire you to try some new things that are working well for you. Keep up the good work with the voltage control boxes.

I made up another new roasting tube configuration that is working very well. I just added one of my 13mm plain end mouthpiece tubes to a U Tube. The 1/2" screen is sandwiched between the two glass tubes and held in place with the silicone tubing. This allows me to easily install and remove the hemp fiber filter from the mouthpiece tube.

Have started reclaiming oil from my hemp filters rather than roasting them. I push the dirty filter out into a silicone sleeve. Then place some drops of alcohol into the filter until it is saturated. The alcohol/oil is extracted by squeezing the silicone tubing into a shot glass. Add alcohol and repeat a few times until the oil is all removed from the fiber. When the alcohol evaporates you are left with the oil. Then I have some oil to use in my new e-cig mod. E-Cig Cartridge Mod

wait wait, so there is going to new NEW HI vaporizers for sale????? whats the difference between the toasty and the heat island? also does it mean there is no plug included with the heat island/ toasty? meaning i have to buy the power supply alone?

The HI has been evolving since it was first created, now besides the improvement in the body itself, the heat tube can be glass instead of metal, and there is a new HI in the works made of an aluminium perforated body.

The Toasty was Alans first model and it is less hot than the HI, plus it can be used as a hand and body massager.

I don't understand the "no plug" question. You can buy the HI with or without power supply but since many already have 12DC power supplies from other vapes and since it is so easy to find in local eletronic stores many people decide to just get the unit+roasting tubes.

All paid up for my ebony HI. Can't wait to see what it's gonna look like. I opted for the SS cover because the glass one can't do turbo tubes, and turbo tubes are INCREDIBLE at lower temps. The ones Alan made for my PD were awesome and once I get my VVPS I feel like I will have similar results with the HI.
