If you don't have f.lux on your PC, you're doing it completely wrong.

This is perfect for me thanks @knowmad I love FC because of the dark background, this gets rid of the "glare" for me from the rest of the internet. I know I'm old and need cataract surgery which is part of the problem BUT this is awesome! Its like red lights on a submarine . . . :ninja: especially in "Darkroom" mode . . .

I've been using f.lux for quite a while now and I recommend it highly. It makes your monitor much much easier on the eyes after sunset. You won't know how much you were affected until after you try it. It will take a bit of getting used to but you'll quickly forget it's there unless you've set it to do a quick change (my preference) and happen to be looking when the sun sets.

I'm keenly interested in colour correction and one of the interesting aspects is how our colour perception is strongly influenced by dominant colours. For example, when f.lux changes the colour balance at sunset, everything looks much warmer, but the eye is amazingly adaptive. After a few minutes you will not notice. I've actually done successful colour correction even though I forgot to disable f.lux, but I should caution that I work with the numbers rather than by eye. In theory I can colour correct something on a monochrome monitor, although I've never actually tried that.

I've been using f.lux since it was recommended on marks daily apple dot com.

I also try to avoid the light from electronics (like the laptop) after sundown. More natural lighting in the evening helps with better sleep.

FLux is okay, unless you really want to watch a show, because I have to turn it off. It also depends if you work in graphics or computers like I do because you can get messed up with the yellow tint.

I sometimes have it on, sometimes not, depending what I do.

I installed it yesterday. I just use Word, Excel and IE all day, so any settings you guys would recommend? I don't yet have an opinion formulated.

I would personally go into your options and select how dimmed you want to go. You can range from super bright(normal) to super yellow. I persoanlly like a little more white than yellow

I normally like to fall in between, but if I'm going night time anime watching I turn it off.

This is why I work by the numbers. Your monitor can be showing you a yellow tint, but if something measures equal in each channel of RGB then you're really looking at a grey. I also want to point out that f.lux is by no means the only thing that can mess up your colour if you don't work by the numbers. For example, one that will inevitably get you is monitor age. You can spend a lot of time and money calibrating your monitor and then keeping it calibrated, only to discover it has drifted when some critical part of your job is wrong, or you can learn to read the numbers and forget about calibration altogether.

My fancy-dancy monitor already has a built-in sensor which reads light levels and adjusts brightness accordingly, in real time. I'd say that's doing it all sorts of right!

Nice program though.
