LOL I'm not a dude. Still playing with it to see what works for me the best!
Fixed! I found smaller bowls went better with me, retains flavor better and less of a chance of combustion. Just below to just above noon on the dial was where I found I had best extraction. You can go higher just make sure you keep a higher draw speed when you do!

Main thing to watch out for is blowbacks, one little cough or blow into the stem will shoot your herb right into the heater.

I've been using VapeN's draw technique ever since he shared it with me about a month ago.
I haven't gone back to the recommended technique since then.
"BIG BANGERS" as he calls them, will medicate you very quickly.
And the taste on the "Firsties" is incredible. With most vapes the first hit usually tastes good but you won't get any visible vapor. That doesn't happen with this technique. Thick tasty vapor will keep billowing out of your mouth even after a couple exhales.

Ive been trying to source down a nice aluminum or stainless puck for a custom base to replace the stock plastic one but haven't been successful in finding anything. I think this would really bring the dbv to the next level. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to find something like this? I was also thinking a nice hard wood, but the weight of metal is appealing.

Recently my da budda just stopped heating up. When the knob is turned on the light would light up but it wont get hot. Any help would be great. I have had this for over 3 years and would not like to send it off to get fixed from 7th floor (Not sure if this forum is run by 7th floor since the last time I asked for help all I was told was to email them and my thread was closed which surprised me). I have it in pieces now and all of the connections look okay. I'm sure there are some electricians on here who have at least some basic knowledge on this stuff. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to fix this without sending it back that would be great.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to turn a dbv/ssv into a herb iron?

This forum isn't run by 7th floor, but 7th floor customer service would be the best bet to ask about repairs. Nobody is going to tell you how to get yourself electrocuted by messing around in a unit you have no idea how to fix on your own.

That's probably why the thread was closed in the first place.

I would recommend grabbing a multi meeter and testing every part in the circuit's path until you find one that is faulty. I don't own a DB this is just general trouble shooting advice that i felt MIGHT help, but who really knows. maybe @OF will jump in here, he's usually got a grasp on this technical stuff.

If it were me I would have the voltmeter out checking the unit but like everyone else has said if you don't know what your doing and all the connections look good 15 bucks isn't bad to get 'er up and running again.

If you're trying to make an herb iron don't throw away a da Buddha or a ssv just buy a hakko soldering iron and remove the outer metal sleeve and you have a $20 herb iron.

Edit: 15 dollars is what it has cost me in the past to have service done on my unit. I believe this is a flat fee but could be wrong.

OK, thanks, now I've seen a picture. Pretty straightforward. It looks like it's basically a light dimmer type controller (sometimes called a 'duty cycle controller') used to control the power to the heater at the extreme left. I assume that's the indicator light (neon?) across the heater.

What's the problem? It should be easy enough to sort out. Does the light come on? In normal use I assume the light doesn't cycle?

Yes the yellow wires go to the power indicator light. When you turn the knob to the right it clicks on and the light lights up but the heating element doesn't get hot.

Thanks for the additional information. Sad to say, it looks like the heater has died (gone open circuit). I assume it's a neon bulb (yellow glow, two rods inside that don't touch?). That means it's seeing something over 80 Volts or so at least part of the time. No need to put a more accurate meter on anything.

The good news is it's set up for easy service. See those little plastic connectors on the heater leads? They pull apart. A new heater no doubt comes with the connectors from the maker? Will they sell you one?

If not, what sort of markings do you have on the heater body?

So your saying I should just ask 7th Floor is they will sell me a replacement heating element? Ill do that now. What do you mean by markings on the heater body?

Although it's possible that yours is bad, these heaters are very reliable. Some have been running non-stop for many years. It's the link in the chain that I'd be least likely to suspect as the failed part.

Any advice for mounting a DBV?

I like to sit on my recliner while I vape. Obviously using my SOLO is no problem when it comes to ergonomics but ever since I got my DBV a few months ago I've thought about mounting it on something so it would be facing down so I would just have to stick the wand straight up instead of sideways. This would make my sessions much more comfortable. I never leave the glass connected between hits due to stirring so I have to reach awkwardly to the side every time I need to take a hit. I also use VapeN's draw technique and that requires a nearly full load so this would also eliminate any chance of any bud falling onto the heater.

In the LSV thread a couple members posted some pics of their LSV mounts and one was mounted on a microphone stand that was adjustable at every angle. It was really cool but I was thinking more along the lines of something,,, "less expensive".... like nailing my DBV to a board and then nailing the board to my wall.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions!

Its a shame that the DBV can't take a hands free attachment and a fatty wand, I would love a mount like you're describing for mine too, and be able to load it up for a whole day...and just have the hose to deal with. Maybe even an articulating arm so if others were around it would still be sharable. The load from a vape shouldn't be too high. Errr...that came out wrong.

Same here, and that's why I preferred the SSV w/standard connection. The vape was on the end table to my left, at a convenient height, and all I had to do for a hit was rest my elbow on the arm of my chair, and swivel my arm (holding the whip) over to the heater cover for a connection. After a hit I could just continue holding the whip in my hand, elbow on the arm, until I wanted another. At times I'd find myself still holding the whip in swivel position 20 min. later, not even realizing I still had it in hand. To this day it remains the easiest vaping setup I ever had.

Hey guys I'm new here!!! I think i've found the best place to ask about my vaporizer problems more specific da buddha vape problems... Let me start off by saying i've read this entire 122 page post about it. And ive tried everything! My main problem is im not getting much vapor at all im starting slow and slowly working up to try to find the area in which is best for vaporizing but it seems i always miss the sweet spot... I see videos on here of people getting pretty big vapor hits or even some day i get like 8 hits out of a 1/3 filled wand. And that so doesnt happen with mine.. Maybe 2 hits and thats if im lucky...I'm really frustrated cause i like to think of myself as a fast learned yet..this is causing me way to many problems ive even taken knob off and set to factory setting 7 o clock to 5 o clock and when i set it on noon it never gets hot enough to vape and if i got to around 1-2 it gets to hot and smells like popcorn way to early.. PLease help guys ive wasted a lot of herb already trying to figure this thing out and im a poor guy.. I was so siked to get my buddha after hearing so much good news on it...Only to get depressed that i can't get the fucking thing to work right. It's not that complicated yet...It still trumphs me FOR EXAMPLE!!!! the best session ive gotten with it was my second time. I got 5 good rips with lots of vapor!! only 5!!!! but it did the job.. I though i found the sweet spot on my second try so on my third try i did the same thing put the dial on same place same amount of weed grinded same way...pulled thru at the same speed and NOTHING?!?! i did everything the exact same way and it barely made vapor. I take wand out heat it up a tad and it popcorns my weeed without one vapor hit.. GUYS i ALL the help i can get any advice would be awesome. I'm so mad about this whole situation its been a week now and ive wasted lots of weed and have gotten stoned like 2 times...out of gee idk 16-18 attempts to medicate.. I strongly feel something is wrong with my buddha but then again this is my first vaporizer ever..but Ive spent hours and hours researching and educating on how to use the buddha right and still...it doesnt wanna produce the vapor it might have something to do with me using low shielf bud verse in videos using high end but i doubt it. I think its a vape problem. I dont understand how one time it works like a charm then i do it again with everything staying the same and it failed....PLEASE GUYS HELP A BROTHER OUT. I also like to take long slow pulls and yes i stir when i feel i need to but im not getting enough vapor to stir so ya lol.. Ive done pretty much everything i've read....
