That was a nice wake up pic! :D

Welcome to the forum and Zapville Megan. So glad to hear you are enjoying your Zap. ;)
If you are needing a coozie for extra heat, you might be one of the ones who would really benefit from getting the VV. :2c:

Looks like some scheduled website work will wait for an hour or so. I want to crawl in here with the Zap family for a bit.
Megan, welcome to Zapville. It is especially nice to hear from someone new that took plenty of time to get to know her Zap. Sometimes that is necessary for real bonding. As I have mentioned on this thread before, we almost gave up on our first Eterra. But, with a little perseverance, the correct flow happened. Then Aromazap started after much trial and error including building 150 Aromazaps for Seattle Hemfest in 2001. We did not sell one unit. Very few people had any clue about Vapor. No regrets though as it had to happen the way it did.
Your need of a Coozie is most likely because you have a big old chunk of wood there. I would be more than happy to take her down a bit and shine her up for you. In the beginning we made them all sizes. Now we make them all very close in size and with a nice 'inny' shape. We think the heat production is much more consistent with our size and shape staying consistent. They are also very nice to hold. Another advantage with our current shape is better sanding. I hand sand them all now, with the grain, finishing off with 400 grit. That is one reason they shine so good. After sanding they get a friction heat cured finish before the buffing process.
Thanks again for the nice post.
NYC, good to see you back around a bit. I was missing your posts. Thanks for the Email too. I was going to send you one and will later this AM. That small crack below the plug on your BL is nada. It should not go anywhere, especially after this much time. Sometimes I will get a small crack below the plug hole when I am not real careful about getting the plug in. Normally it will stay right there because the plug hole stops the crack from progressing. I did have a sweet Myrtle with a small one like that but went the length of the Zap in short order but that was very unusual.

Vito is very patient and is never the cause of anything being out of stock. I know it was a little joking about the issue but he is never pushy. I told him yesterday, once I can keep the bubblers in stock, I will send him a few when I get extra. Vito was also very patient in the beginning over CRZs. He waited and waited for his first batch.

As for volts and heat, I am finding 13.5 to 14.2 or so Is what I like. The stock fixed voltage transformers do 13.5 to 13.8 under a load with the "big" grid doing 122+ volts. That is why they work so well for so many people. The VV will be fine tuning with the ability to give the Zap more horsepower if wanted. I personally do not like the higher range for two reasons. First, taste diminishes and second, the famed "stem tip contents" are gone quicker. It is really neat to get so many pulls from our small tip. Higher heat takes away from the number of pulls IMO.
OK, enough for now. Back to photos and website work.

Good morning Rick, I have been eager as most to get the VV power supply. Maybe a stupid question but I still have that 13.5v transformer I got from ya way back, it wouldnt hurt to run my baby with it would it?

I needed a little stem holder for my bedroom MZ and came up with this. I use 2 clothes pegs and fold the top flap over a bar in the headboard. The test tube holds my pre-ground herb. It is backed with another panel of denim and then stitched into compartments that just fit the stems snugly.

J.R.R., such neat ingenuity and recycling too!. Thanks for showing us your bedroom stem holder.
Ed, you can use the 13.5 intermittently, no problem but not all the time. I do think the 13.5 unregulated transformers put out well over 15 volts with the Zap load, even closer to 16 volts.. Maybe you can test the voltage with the plug in the Zap? You will have to strip back a little insulation to test voltage while the plug is in the Zap unless you have a green/black plug on the transformer. They let us test voltage by putting the voltmeter probes on the screw terminals of the plug.
Finally getting a few more units up on the website. I will keep the 420 special up($15 off a Zap) for a few more days(code: zapville@fc). I am guessing the Abysmal units will go up towards the end of the week. I will not offer the 420 discount on those units as they will be priced low initially. More updates as we get our shit together. I do believe I may have an old RockZap or two around(original, concrete cup) and maybe and old classic brass Aromazap to add to the mix. There will not be many, I am guessing a half dozen more or less.
Looks like a busy week ahead. What a surprise!

First post, first Vape. After much research, the RockZap is the one. Can't wait for the Redwood and Bubbler. Thanks Rick and Thanks FC for all the reviews! I'd be lost without ya.

I will try this sometime soon when I have a few minutes free, I would like to know what its output would be, will let ya know! Thanks for the input Rick!

smackbadly, welcome to Zapville. Your redwood snag was one of the quickest yet. I went back to the front of the store to make sure the five I just put up were up as they should be.....but wait.......the redwood is gone already! I might even ship yours tomorrow with some others. Thanks much for the order and giving us a try. Good move getting the bubbler when you did.

Now for some real fun for me. I came out to the shop and disassembled kwpcers CRZ. At first glance with the bottom off...wow! looks good! Then out comes the insulated SS heatport assembly. WOW! This baby had a 13.5 for 60 continuous days? Do I have that right? It was run at high heat for extended periods, I do know that. In the very early days of the CRZ, I put a drop or two of hi temp silicone between the wood and the top ceramic insulator. That lasted maybe a week. Now we use nothing, everything goes in "dry". I attempted to get the top insulator out(which did have the silicone) to expose the very top wood and popped the unit in half by accident. One of those accidents that turns out to be a bonus because we get to see it all much better. Kwpcer will get a nice replacement........My fault!
I am very happy with what I see. I would not even call the top darkest wood "charred" and certainly none of the wood below the top. This is more evidence to me anyway that insulating the heatport to preserve the wood is a good idea. This CRZ has been out there about 7 months I believe. My original intent was to re-turn it and save it as the slight rattle was easily fixable. Oh well.

Enjoy the internals of a much overworked Maple CRZ. Looks like they are pretty tough and my 15 volt top end of our VV power supply is a good number.

So coozy's shouldn't be left on all the time? I put two wrist bands around my CRZ and i've left them there ever since, is that gonna cause any harm? It doesn't run hot enough to char my herb or anything, still dark green/light brown

Twzted, you are fine. Leave it just the way you have it.
We all have different opinions about such things.
My opinion is do not fix it if it isn't broke. Your wristbands, a great idea, are just right for your Zap.

BTW, kewpcers heater came it a solid 22 ohms.

@rick I always knew it was a test unit and that someday it could be called to glory for the sake of learning. I'm glad to see that it held up to the burn. Seems like the evidence is in favor of the VV. Mo' power!

PS, how'd ya like that bottom covering material I used? hehe

Damn Deez. Were you born with a camera in hand?
You get some of the best close up shots around!

:luv:
I appreciate the kind words, thanks Vito.
the funny part is the camera I use. its a sony cybershot, its 6megapixels, and I must have bought it a half a dozen years ago.
just had to check on that,,,, I was correct! DSC-T9 (2006, 2.5" LCD, 6 megapixel, 3x optical zoom)
Btw, keep your eyes out for a new vapor bonging video very soon ;)

@Rick: I did not get your email reply...

JRR that is a sweet holder!

Thanks for the welcomes all.

Rick,
I'd been lurking for a while, but by the time I decided on a RockZap they were sold out. I knew you were posting them soon. I actually checked the site right after you added the redwood. I waited for you to add a couple more, but she looked too good to miss out on. Thanks again!

here for the chicks
Is that the Dirty Rico Nyc-D? Does the closeness of the GonG connection to the tube make it difficult to use with your logs at all?
