Discontinued The 8 Herb Vaporizer for the Persei

Mainly because the carts actually responds how you suggest, where the voltage is a pretty good indication of heat, and the herb chamber will warm up over time and require varying amounts of heat to stay at a constant temperature.

This is why we can control the carts by varying the voltage, but to keep a chamber at a contrast heat requires more attention than a human would want to do. It's better to have a small temperature sensor and a computer controlling the heat for you.

& happy 4/20 everyone!
:bigleaf:
that makes sense, thanks!

Sounds like you're getting a grip on it. The next piece of the puzzle you're needing is the feedback idea. The herb cart actually looks at the result, rather than use history to guess like the second (VV) system uses. Consider that you could easily clamp your gas peddle down at some point on a flat road and get to a uniform speed. But if you hit a grade, either up or down, the speed changes and it our case you loose vapor or burn the load. Or what happens to your house temperature if you open a window and there is no thermostat to notice or care? It get cold where I live.

So yes, more is hotter. But we need to hit a target temperature within a fairly narrow window that's just not going to happen with an open loop system without serious user intervention.

Another way of looking at it is the herb cart is built like a volcano or HA (temperature controlled) and it too could get an air pump added and could then blow bags......THC, ya got your ears on???

also very helpful. appreciate the learnin' am sure i won't be the last to ask such questions, only the first here ;)

Go for it Bob, glad to help if I can.

As they tolt us at teacher school, 'there are no dumb questions'. I agree, if you exclude those that aren't honestly asked, but there's a pile of lame answers out there.

The key is for every guy that wonders enough to take keyboard in hand and ask there's a couple of stoners lurking who would also like to know.....if they only realized it? They are our people too ya know.... In fact sometimes they is us.

That's a great idea and I already have a HA2.1 pump too... might be a bit too strong but what if we add a passthrough adapter to sure up the power? Hmmm...

When I get an 8, I see big things in it's future...

A passthrough will only let you get sloppy about charging batteries, it's not going to give more power or more useful lifespan that I can see. No reason to hold up science on that account.

It's easy to throttle little diaphragm pumps like these. Either choke off the input (suction restrict) or output (exhaust restrict) as you please. Fish tank stores will sell you the valve to do this if you're not comfortable putting a kink in the hose and taping it down or some of the other more common solutions.

I haven't seen the unit of course, but if it's set up 'right' it will tell you when you try to pull too fast as it will "drop out of regulation" like your car does when the speed control is set too high for the steep hill you just hit.

Somebody's got to invent the battery powered pumps so guys can start blowing little bags in new places.....

Fun times ahead.

8.5 inches in a foot?? Now that's silly.
$200 for a complete unit vs $59 for a cart.........what does that even mean?
Subway footlongs aren't 12 inches either. I think the 8 herb is a little too long to be pocket friendly.

mflb if ya want tiny, i personally don't vape flowers in public as nothing
has the stamina to keep up w/ my needs. have own most travel size
vapes or used frequently enough at one point or another and either
they run out of juice or they won't load enough or they won't push
enough power, or they burn it. honestly i use my persei in public
pretty frequently as i sometimes have probs hitting the omi while walking
i won't sit somewhere and just suck on it tho ;). but i digress, i'd rather
have the size and have it able to do the job. as OF said, brand new territory
when he compared it to a travel volcano i "saw the light" to a degree. prob
won't be sitting around just blastin the 8 in public either, but on the go, just b4, etc.
can see it workin'. i haven't used the solo which i believe has kind of become the current
fave. any users of that have thoughts on the 8?

The new carts for the Persei are heavy hitters. I understand you're wanting to hold out for the big guns but if you do buy the Persei, try a couple of the carts. I think you'll be impressed.

And Happy 420 everyone!
Anyone know anything cool happening down in Orange County?

Time for pants with bigger pockets, right? I mean how serious are you about this???

I'm not, you know I already own two units from a competitor and I'm happy the way they perform and they are smaller in size.

Understood. Sorry, it wasn't all that serious a comment, but you don't get many straight lines on this forum you know.

Size is an issue of course, but with it comes capacity. We're demanding more and more power and still want hundreds of hits between charges (and indeed even want 'passthroughs' so we don't even have to keep our spare batteries charged.....). It's all a compromise and small size, high performance and cheap don't fit in there as well I guess.

Glad you're happy with other units, I use them from several of the makers on various loads. Electrons are electrons you know.

Well, it's also $150 for 'a complete unit' from TV. Herb cart, your choice of 'batteries' to run it and the appropriate battery and charger.........what does that mean?

I think it means we have choices, IMO always a good thing for the choosers. The 'trick' is to make it an informed choice?

OF

I was being sarcastic but thanks OF.
$150 is for the thermovape revolution....no herb cart came with mine??

The herb cart kit (Evolution) is also $150, well $159 actually I think. The cart alone is $60. That's all you need if you already bought a revolution or Dart, otherwise I think they cost the same to add to your Evolution kit?

I have seen the video and I was very impressed with the amount of vapor this unit puts out but I don't need that big clouds to get me where I want to be, my tolerance is quite low. Also, I read Vitolo's comment on it and I have nothing but respect for him and he was pleased with the initial test results, looks like a great tool just not for me at the present moment. Thanks for taking time to reply and for your insight, you seem to know a lot about vapes.

You're very welcome, good luck in your quest. If not yet, I'm sure soon, there's a nearly perfect vape for everyone out there.....that's sure to be bettered in the upcoming year. Ain't that grand?

I'm happy with the vapes I own but this technology is advancing quite fast and there's always something new and that's great.

What's even cooler, is we are just at the beginning of this journey into portable vapes, so not too long from now, our first run units will look like cavemen built them... no offense... just watching the way the rest of technology has evolved, remember Atari, or commodore 64...etc... maybe our wallets don't like that there will be continuous upgrades, but hey I'm glad to be able to participate in the evolution... :spliff:

So for clarification the only option for herb users will be the persei and the 8 add on?

I think if you check THC's message a couple minutes ago (just before yours) you'll see he's recommending the Universal Adapter for just that duty? Cheaper, simpler, smaller and able to run on non Persei batteries and still does herb and concentrates?

It interests me at any rate. I still wonder where you put your mouth.....

Damn, THC beat me (by a minute) again. Man that guy can type fast sometimes.....must spell better than I do on the first pass.... Always right, too. OF
