I'll be taking delivery of a red oak PD tomorrow (science willing).
A red oak PD...I wasn't aware they were available in red oak. That sounds interesting.

Can't wait to get my PD.... all this talk is making me go crazy! :o
You edited that before I could reply, but if they were on sale this evening they are now gone.

Ahh!! Yeah sorry haha would be almost impossible to understand what i was saying without prior knowledge of beads, here are some pics :D
So the beads go in the bong. Now that is starting to make sense. Does this enhance the delivery of the goods from the PD?

All the beads do is cool down and smooth out the vapor, this is not the correct thread for discussing beads though.. please post in the thread i linked too earlier.

Update from PD land:

Lots of time put into building the shop last week. Some of you know I was a carpenter, and this was a fun project. Pammy has a coat of paint on and I need to get trim done then roofing, but it's looking good.

So, All Purple-Days are being built in the PD Shop. It's so nice. Not done at all but such an improvement. Should speed production by agood margin. Really. And that should help the S/D situation. We had such limited space, and now, both of us can work at the same time.

Pammy has been taking pics. We went with the same colors as the house, beige and white trim and stiil plan on a green door,so when the buiolding supply has green shingles... Yep, it's getting in place. Put the locks in yesterday.

Red Oak: A customer sent me some Red Oak. Two pieces. It's the normal request for a custom order. One might fail. Maybe both. This fellow asked if I had anything laying around. Just happened that I did. Please don't ask, I don't have any more. BTW custom is more expensive. Lots more e-mails and lots more work.

Well, after waiting 8 days for Jameco to send me two replacement wall warts they showed up today. Weirdest thing ever, neither one of them was the right part, and they weren't even the same as each other. They came in two different size boxes (which tipped me off to check them out before using them) with the right part number on the box, but the adapters weren't even Jameco brand. It looked like some bozo took two used wall warts out of his house and stuck them in boxes and shipped them out to me.

Called them and they are sending me replacements, but they won't get here for another 5 days and they want me to go through the hassle of sending these bogus ones back. I wouldn't call it bad customer service, but nothing to be proud of either.

I'll probably be out of weed by the time they get here, as I was hoping to be able to stretch this last bit with my PD.
That's weird. I bought 3 a while back from Jameco and had no issues. Definitely a savings vs. Vapenow- $9.95 vs. $20. I paid about $8 shipping so the delivered unit price is under $13. Jameco adapter

Good going on the PD shop Tom. Get that roof on before it rains. ;)

Good to hear the shop is coming along nicely. :) I've known a few luthier friends that have built their own dedicated workshops and love how streamlined and efficient everything goes afterward.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures once it's all finished and you all get a free moment to develop them.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I took delivery of a beautiful red oak PD right before noon. The bad news is that the Jameco power supply isn't getting any juice (tested with DMM). More bad news is that a quick continuity check shows that the car charger fuse has blown.

My local Radio Shack was no help on the adapter, so I've currently got it plugged in to another 12v adapter, which has 12v 850mA output.

I've only had it plugged in around ten minutes, but I'm not getting any hot air with a straw test.

Can someone describe how to tell if you are getting power to the unit? I'm sure that this wall-wart is working.

Could the plug from this w/w be the wrong size? Maybe the hole on the plug is too large .(just by a little bit) It doesn't take much.

Nope, plug's good. Going to call the other two RSs in town and see if they have one. Otherwise I'll be picking up a couple of fuses and hanging out in the eurovan for a bit.

Haven't checked e-mail yet today, but get with us , Slip. We can help figure it out and get you a new wall adapter if that's the problem.

Units will not be up to operating temps till about 30-45 minutes. After about 5-10 minutes you should be able to feel heat with a finger on the metal.

slips...I tried the RS thing they had here and found the plug to be too lose to get a connection long enough to get it hot enough. The plug would fit, just not snugly...spent the night hitting it and not getting any vapor as it was a little too cold.

Thanks, Tom. You've got some mail.

Sticks - I just talked to a RS here has a unit that accepts different sized plugs, so I'll cruise over there when I get off in 45 minutes. I'll be picking up a couple of fuses as well. In the meantime I'm tempted to cut off the female plug end and test the wires on the jameco adapter.

//edit: just found a replacement fuse in another car adapter. going to experiment to see if this one blows.

//edit: yep, it blew too. fine before plugging into the pd, blew within 30 seconds after.

Soon as I read the second fuse blew I knew we had a problem. The worst part is it's a one of a kind piece (red oak) so I can't just send out a new unit. This one will have to be serviced.

That's the one I got and it didn't fit. Also, you can take the adapters into radio shack and they can test them for you. I had them do this before I went and ordered from Jameco.

I wanted to update the thread as my "Purple-Days Experience" has done a wonderful U-turn in the other direction! :) :) :)

This was a good lesson in anything worth anything for is worth waiting for. Since this thread is littered w/sidenotes, I'll make a brief personal admission before I get on w/my post: I was celibate (ok, chose to stop dating) for about a year before I met my wife - the PD wait was only about 3 months. :)

As many of you can't (or wouldn't) access my blog on WT, my last entry was titled "The Hype is Real" on the PD. nuff said. :D

I am helping a friend in need w/vaping who usually doesn't use. Let me just say that there ought to be a video on how to pass the PD back and forth. Somehow I give it upside down, but it is returned right-side up (causing me to do a little PD tap jic some smelly abv fell in).

After about a week of use, I am making plans on going to Venice Beach in search of the EHLE PD (and maybe LB) companion. I already think of my LB as the PD away from home, though the LB is a lot 'hungrier' at about 3x the groove to cylinder size. Yes, I am so thrilled to have mostly settled in w/my vaping, I am finally going to add my signature line as a proud and honored PD owner.

I remember now where I first saw a PD - it was at a house party and I went to the bathroom. I had to touch that hot copper top w/an 'M' on it (have to thank how memory works w/extreme temps). Now I know what that thing was - the PD. Full Circle.

MANY MANY MANY THANKS TO FC AND THE PD TEAM AND TO VAPENOW AND DIESELVAPORS,
duh

PS: I especially praise any one looking out for a Metalurgist. ;)

Hi everyone-

It's been a while since I posted, but I lurk here often whiloe enjoying my PD.... I have, however, had a most unfortunate series of losses (of vapor tubes), that has resulted in my only having ONE remaining tube. This is, as I am sure you can see, an untenable situation. On the PD website, the link for vapor tubes just takes you to the warranty page. The vape-now site also has no info on where i can get extra tubes. Any ideas out there?

hey nyscum, i'm a ny pd aromatherapy abuser as well - nice to meet you.
mine never leaves the apt so no loss of tubes - email tom - he might take a few days to get back to you but he will.

max, I wonder if those tubes have ever been in stock. I have been eyeing those since VapeNow started offering them. Hopefully, the stems will also get the new waiting list functionality VapeNow is adding for PDs!

BTW - I bought a few lengths of that silicone rubber tubing. Very impressive! Money well spent! The 1 footer seems 'ideal' so far as the abv seems to blow out easily, I haven't tried the 2 footer yet.
