Arizer Solo

Hello all. I've been a FC member since 2009 and been vaping for 5 years. Had my Solo for a few weeks and I can't really fault it. After a few years with an Iolite (1 Iinhale , 2 Iolites in total, Vapir One & Oxygen before that) the Solo is leaps and bounds better in many ways. The thing I love the most is that I finally have variable temps. Anyway, just a quick hello and thanks to all involved with this thread and forum for all the invaluable advice I've greatfully received.
I'm going to try my best to give something back to the community and post my POV's and adviceon on a more regular basis.

Anyone have an idea how to protect the buttons?

My fingers are usually grungy when I press the buttons, and I could swear resin is building up on them, or around them.

How about a small silicon pad or some type of skin/protection for this thing?

Just put a condom around it mate, make some air holes around the bottom area.

The solo is a portable vape, so isn't the point to use it on the go, Haha.
Mine follows me everywhere, I honestly never leave home without it :D

Yesterday I took mine out on a field trip. Part way through, another occupant of the vehicle handed me the Solo by holding onto the tube. Ooops. And then within an hour, I pulled my hand out of my coat pocket and the stem came out. I don't mind that it is glass (although I could go with steel and/or tubes) but there ought to be some mechanism to keep the stem in, and the stem needs structural redesign (and it looks like users here are figuring this one out) to create better/easier draws. The heating unit is fantastic. The thing works great. But it has problems for me in being a travel mate. Maybe instead of the hole cover (anyone leave theirs on?) they should have 2 rubber bands running over the top to hold the stem in.

I was actually holding the Solo a little different so I could hold it up to the camera, and show the size of it in my hand, I don't usually hold it like that, I usually press the rubber stopper into the stem to keep it from moving while I hit it. So far I have only come close to burning myself after removing the stem, and grazing across the bowl while it was still hot. I could see that being a disadvantage if you were trying to carry it in your pocket on the go. One of the things I like about the Solo is how the body doesn't seem to get too hot to hold while it's running. Granted, I am a bit of a light weight, so I don't leave it running for more than a couple of loads so I have not seen how hot this thing can get after a long session, or at higher temps than 4. Hopefully one of the new stems I just ordered from PlanetVape will fit more snug and not swing around... probably have them by the end of the week.

The glass heat must be somewhat subjective. I gan grab mine pretty much right away and not get burned. It is warm, perhaps even uncomfortable, but it doesn't burn me. I have a 'cold' 105 setting 4. Seems plenty hot to me and is definately not the temp vaporpedia says it is - much warmer I am sure by if nothing else the clouds it produces.

Nice. So glad you, and others, love your Solo, I love it too!

I can't wait til some new stems come out.

In the meantime I bought a Vaper Tamer ($29)

http://dabuddhavaporizer.com/media/...e5fb8d27136e95/w/h/wholesale_pics_5_of_6_.jpg

It cools down the vapor.
I am reading back to see how other may have used it - might just need a small slice of tubing to connect it.

EDIT:
This is McNerdius set up - as in post #1864:

Supposedly fits right over it!

I have that! It is GREAT. When done with session, Solo goes on charger, VT goes into freezer. It is a perfect combo and it does fit perfectly with a short stem.

Haha! I'll take it! :p

I read that it's only good for about 15-30 seconds? Then it gets warm? Or maybe I misread....

If that was true - I was thinking of getting another one just to keep it in rotation (freezer), so maybe they will be good for at least 1 minute? :/

15 minutes. Not 15 seconds.

So I decided to return the M105 and ordered another unit from Amazon. It came today, and is a 107!! :) I have not used it yet, I warmed it up to 7, it was a little stinky, then I backed it down to 4 and the smell seemed to go away. I have it charging now. I did check to see if my new stems would fit snug and they do :D in fact I had to be a little forceful to get it to pop in. I have not tried the stems it came with yet, they are still wrapped up in packaging. I took the top cap off to check the condition of the inside which looked good, but had a hell of a time getting back on, it looked cross threaded and would not line up easily to screw it back in place... but I don't plan to take it off very often, so I guess I can live with that. I got a pretty good price $170. Here is the link for the one I purchased.

I don't know if all of the ones they send out are 107, but mine is. I'll be testing it out later today.

Have a lot of Solo+EQ owners found that the Solo has more or less replaced the EQ in their vape collection? I currently have a MFLB and my EQ which I primarily use for vaporbonging, but I like idea of being able to pass the whole vape and not worrying about tubing. I can't wait to see Planet Vape's GonG stems. How does the Solo's heater stack up to the EQ's for consistency of vapor production during high airflow like bonging?
Thanks for asking! I have been thinking about this too. I rarely use the Q anymore - the Solo is just easier or less involved and less involving or something. The Solo compares IMHO as good as or better in hits, but you get fewer hits. I got the Solo because the Q was so good. And the Q is still great for me for balloons. I am currently away from my Q anhow, but ... a friend yesterday was mentioning getting the Q and I was thinking of sending him here to FC to see if people use the Solo and put the Q away, because that is my experience and that seems to be born out from this discussion.
I did this with great results. http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj584/MrNormlAZ/solo-glass.jpg
I do like having something on all the time, and the Q is great for that. I just think that the Q, with whip, with lots of buttons and things to do, rotating the elbow, takes much more energy and concentration than the Solo, and they both get the job done. But "passing the vape" can be problematic, because the Solo stem can come loose (so can the Iolite and likely many others) but as long as people know to not grab by the glass, it works well passed around in my experience.

it seems to me that the cotton would collect oil that was on its way to your lungs in the first place. sure its collecting what would collect on the glass, but its likely collecting more than just that.

it reminds me of a pollen screen in a grinder. its just removing a small portion of the goods to be saved for later. i removed the pollen screen layer from my grinder as i just want it all up front.

The cotton seemed to create more resistance - harder to drag. (and agreed on pollen screen, although it is perhaps more concentrated so smaller amounts needed...)

Could you kindly post the specs of that gorgeous bong rip:
-How did you pack the bowl in Solo?
-What setting and how long did the bowl warm up.
-Anything else that could help me figure out why my clouds aren't coming out that thick.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj584/MrNormlAZ/solo-glass.jpg
is mine. This completed the process. http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj584/MrNormlAZ/IMG_0550-1.jpg
Curved screen, 105 SS setting 4 stem instered, turn on and when it hits 4 it's ready. Several hits/drags/draws to fill the glassware, so I get a couple those per session.

I am so glad I did the return!! The new m107 is working great, and stems are staying nice and snug! :D So far, the opening on every stem I have had is different size, so I now have 2 stems with 510 drip tips inserted in them for mouth pieces, one with a TV brand mouth piece and one with a solid black 306 drip tip...

Is there any news on the new stealth attachment? I'm so fucking excited for it, but planet vape was supposed to update last night and they didn't.

EDIT: Checked their thread in supporting retailers, they said pictures will be up by the end of the day.

I was just doing some audio analysis on my stereo at home and i kept getting a spurious peak at 15.58kHz on my FFT analyzer. I turned off components in the system until everything was off determining that something else was causing it. yup... its the solo! on mine when the heater comes on it output a fairly loud tone at 15.58kHz with no other harmonics. My hearing doesn't extend that far, just before it. however i swear now I feel a weird feeling when it comes on. of course I am high, but still. so the solo seems to output quite a loud tone around that frequency.
