my sound seems to be off. is there a way to turn it on? my unit seems to be inconsistent, sometimes i'm able to turn it off by holding the 2 buttons other times the idle led just keeps blinking and when i let the buttons go it goes back to my last set temp. any advice is much appreciated
thanks

Remember me the guy they banned? Anyway, I'm back only to tell you what happened when I sent back my M104 stainless steel because of bad smell.

The new model M105 black just came in today. The heating element does not seem to be stainless steel any longer. It looks like brass to me at least the color looks like brass. There is now a new inside black lip that makes the inside diameter narrower so that none of my original model M104 glass tubes fit.

I'm sitting here with 2 standard 2 hole glass tubes that will not fit because the diameter is larger on these glass tubes. The 2 optional 4 holes that I purchased later they also don't fit. The only thing that fits is my old M104 potpourri glass insert interestingly.

Also, the unit seems to heat up quicker than the stainless steel and it's not ceramic. Call me crazy but this thing is heating up probably twice as fast as my stainless steel and remember it's not ceramic it is something else like brass.

Also, there's only that one beep when turning on the unit and no other annoying continuous beep. I don't remember if the unit is supposed to memorize the last heat setting but this one does not. Once you turn it off manually (not waiting 12 minutes) it does not remember the last heat setting. I have not let it cycle after 12 minutes to find out if it memorizes the last heat setting. I'll try later and let you know.

Okay and for the finale the smell test. Since I cannot use it because my glass tubes don't fit I cant do a proper test but I can tell you that I don't smell anything like the older model M104. There is still a slight smell but you would need to get on top of it and stick your nose into it to smell something. I also have not been cycling the unit so it may go away completely with use. I don't know yet.

As a 1 to 10 test and 10 being the worst smell my older M104 stainless steel black had a 9. This unit has a 1.

These guys are obviously changing these units all around with battery life, heat up time, heat chamber diameter, beep or no beep, heat setting memory etc.

mod note: Yes. A 2nd infraction gets the member a 3 day ban. Yours expired over two weeks ago. We're still waiting for the "repercussions" you promised.

Hey dude, welcome back and thanks for the review. If you know Arizer, they continuously improve their products and don't mention anything of it unless there is a grand revision (like the Extreme-q). It's actually pretty good for some, and not for others. Why not improve something if it's not going to make the product more expensive? It's win win, but not for those that have purchased, and then realize that there is a "better" model out there. Fortunately, Arizer has stepped up and just replaced the ceramics as they are making them go the way of the dinosaur.

My m105 was also "brass colour" right out of the box... i never understood that, but never questioned it, nor did anyone else. Same as you, no smell unless you stuck your nose right over the top, and only then was there a "faint smell".

The Solo has much potential, and if you get a good one it really kicks ass for a portable. Personally if you can, I think it's best to wait until some more changes occur...specifically the heater temp and battery life.

But it wasn't too bad, I picked it up and brought it home and tried to turn it into a bong adapter. I took pain's advice on cutting glass and it worked out perfectly, now I have a perfect 18mm bong adapter for my arizer.

The only thing i'd worry about there is that theres very little stem length so you're probably going to get some honey building up inside of your GG joint/downstem. I originally wanted a really short GG stem too, but realized that i need a certain length to be able easily reclaim. I realize you probably didnt have much of a choice since youre broke

Yeah my SS doesnt really look like SS, a bit of an brassy tint to it. But it also doesnt smell which is the biggest thing. Performs better than the ceramic all around except for batt life. My stems from my ceramic fit it nice and tight. I only use the old 2 hole stems since i dont seem to get as good of density with the new 4 holes.

How in the heck do you get your glass stems to fit? The new M105 doesn't fit the old stems....

Incorrect. Although at first it was a scary tight fit, eventually they all fit in no prob. At first I swear I thought I was gonna break the glass trying to get it in. Anyways, with my M105 I was able to get 6 stems fitting, 4 old ones, 2 newer 4 hole.

that's hard to believe because the diameter of these tubes are different than the diameter of the potpourri tube. The potpourri just slips in and the others are a different diameter. Remember these tubes fit in loosely in the M104. So you're saying they fixed the problem but you have to force these tubes in a smaller inside diameter fitting? Okay here I go

Here is an edit to my previous posting.
As unbelievable as it seemed these tubes do fit after a major push on the tube. I used a little soap just to make sure and it does fit tighter now. The tube will swing around in circles but a lot harder now and is perfect.

I just would've never thought these tubes would fit. Thanks for your help.

thats definitively the one i have, but i didn't have anything to compare it too hence its my first experience with a solo. it heats up fast, no complaints at all. the heating element's got a yellow-ish tint to it, not silver like SS would be. itd be nice if the battery lasted a wee-bit longer but it'd no biggie. it lasts a decent amount of time already

got mine with a 4 hole bent and one straight. at first they fit nice and snug, but not they seem to sit in there more loosely. i can turn the unit upside down and it'll stay put.

All in all I would say get the model M105 in whatever color you want because I've had the previous model and I have been able to compare it to each other. There's a huge difference in smell, speed of heating, and stem fit. As far as I'm concerned this is the end of the line for me and I'm just putting this baby to sleep.

I'm still going to use my MFLB on a daily basis and keep this other unit if I ever need a backup. Good luck everybody else and do what you have to do........

Just got the solo in the mail today. I'm really happy with it thus far, but have noticed a slightly funky taste. I wiped the cap with rubbing alcohol and am running it through two cycles at a 7. Overall, I think it's pretty great. Also, it's a steal at 160 with free shipping off ebay. Right now I'm trying to use the potpourri bowl, which is hilariously ineffective. But it's not like I bought it for that anyway.

Has anyone noticed that their stems are loose? Mine are really wobbly and don't stay in at all, and I feel like that kinda sucks. I don't feel like something is very portable when I have to keep it upright at all times or risk breaking glass/spilling herb.

Great day for my mail today, got a 250ml Ehle with diffused downstem and a nice roor combustion bowl for it plus I got some 14/20 solid glass stoppers for cleaning . And I got my ac adapter from VaporNation.com with 2 four hole stems. The adapter works perfect so far ( 1 bowl ) nice and tight, no way it would fall out like steiner was having a problems with.

The 250ml is fucking perfect size for me, thanks Matty, and the diffused downstem gives me a better purr and very little splashing. The Solo has no problems at all milking the shit out of it even with mids.

You guys with the brass colored bowl, anyway it could be a SS that have already been "burned" in, my SS was nice and shinny but now it has a yellow/straw tint to it from the bluing process.

I turned in my model 104 stainless steel black and received a model 105 stainless steel black. I asked why the heating element seem to look brass and commented that it is heating up faster than my old model. I did mention I had a hard time pushing in the glass tube until I figured it out.

Here is a reply from support at Arizer:

"Hello XXX

Thank you for your email. I am glad to hear you have received your replacement unit and that you have been able to get your Aroma Tubes to fit. The heating element in your unit is Stainless Steel and the programming has been adjusted slightly so that the unit heats up slightly faster.

Would you mind doing a little comparison between the 100ml and the 250ml perhaps?

I love my 250, but I wonder if a 100ml could add anything to the experience. Is it a lot more portable?

Ya if I was needing a portable I would get the 100ml too. The 250 feels more like a bong, the 100ml is more bubbler like. I feel like I can nail the big one with no fear of a mouthfull of water but the 100ml could be overpowered kinda easy, that is with/out a diffused downstem too, I'll try the non diff in 250 later.

The 100ml is definitely more portable (it's only a little bit taller than the solo), and I quite like how it works with the solo.
You just need to make sure to be gentle when clearing or you can get some water in your mouth.
Having said that, I do prefer the 250ml, it's just as nice, without having to worry about pulling too hard.

myself and the ppl i know who ordered theirs off PIU only seem to get SS solos if their ceramics flaked, which actually seems to be a good number of them. Smart move that they're switching to all SS. Aside from the hit to battery life they just seem to work better. Between the more securely fitting stems tha tyou can invert, to the easily cleaned nature of the SS if you get goo caked on it, to the way it heats up faster and seems to be programmed to be more finicky on maintaining temp... I think i'd wait and get a SS one for sure. I didnt prioritize getting a SS when i ordered mine, but now that i own both i can say just go with the SS for sure.

I think heard about an ebay seller selling m105's SS guaranteed, but i'm not 100% if theyre still out there.
