They seem to be one of the best deals on laptops when it comes to the specs and price. I would definitely recommend them over Acer, that's for sure.

I'm not going to get a new one, but it's still a nice laptop. It's a refurbished IBM Lenova Thinkpad, model Z61T, $325.00. I'm getting it from a place I trust, so no issues there. It has an Intel Duo Core 2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 100GB HD, DVD burner, built in wi-fi and webcam, fingerprint reader, and more! It's thin, and only weighs 4 pounds! I am really looking forward to getting it Friday afternoon.

Typing on Lenovo now. It has a drain system in the keyboard. Spilled liquids won't damage vital parts, says the advertising... Didn't think I would need the feature as soon as I did. A nearly full glass of sweetened tea was knocked over and spilled straight onto the keyboard. If you've ever spilled sweet tea or soda on a keyboard, you know you are gonna have sticking keys. So I waltzed that laptop over to the sink and proceeded to pour water over the keyboard to flush it out. No problems...

Wow, that's awesome!! That's also how I ruined my very first laptop. I spilled a Coke on it, and it was fried. I was SO mad at myself for a long time, and I've been overly careful ever since. Knowing this Lenovo can take a spill is nice to know.

I got a Lenovo desktop and love it. Then I found a good deal on a Lenovo laptop for the wife and we both love that as well. If the price is right, I will buy Lenovo without hesitation.

That's a great feature IMO (even for dust & ashes, for those who still smoke)... but you can also make that feature a reality on any laptop with a 15$ keyboard silicon skin + your typing experience will be enhanced and smooth:

Though I am an Apple addict on the personal level (a real I-crackhead), I have to work with PC's at my office and YES Lenovo is one of the "safe" brands in the windows laptop world!

My daugher has a Lenovo and other than upgradeing the HD to a 320 gig hd its great for her. She loves it. She installed linux on it and made it even faster and no issures with Hardware. Her only complaint is like most ppl the battery doesnt last as long as she would like.....she ony getting about 3 hours but thats enough for what she does away from home. They let her plug into an outlet at the Libarary. Advantage of small town LOL.

Lenovo laptops (and IBM ones before Lenovo bought the business) have very good keyboards. There is a little tactile feedback which lets you know positively the key engaged... The batteries are terrible and very expensive. If you keep it plugged in, remove the battery and put it in a nice dry place. The battery dies otherwise! Make sure to back up your data as there is a pretty high failure rate for laptop hard drives.

On a side note, this laptop came with Internet Explorer, and I had forgotton how lame it is. I can't wait to get Firefox downloaded and installed.
Concerning leaving the battery in: this is detrimental to the battery. One of the worst conditions for a lithium ion battery is to be subjected to heat while fully charged, which is exactly the case when you leave it in a powered-up laptop. The battery life will gradually shorten and eventually become too short to be useful.
Having said that, I always leave the battery in my laptops and they tend to be on 24/7. I seldom need to run on battery (my laptops are simply a way for us to have computers when we're in Hawaii) so I'm willing to trade off battery lifetime for uninterrupted power. Original Lenovo batteries are expensive (well over $100) but you can find OEM batteries online (Amazon is a good source) for about $25-35.

It's a simple fix to a rather expensive and annoying problem you may have to deal with in the future, so if you can afford the minor inconvenience I would highly suggest it.
I plan to take it back in tonight and have them check it out. I hope it's something that is fixable. If not, I'll have to get another laptop, and they only had this one Lenovo.
