I mean if it’s free you don’t ask if it’s worth the money. Granted this is very affordable and everyone seems to be happy with it. Just seems like a new marketing tool to create buzz. I applaud the effort!
I’m on my 4th Fury 2 and if I like the Cap they did an investment not only marketing. Other than that I get asked many times advice on which vape to get as a first vape, online and offline. The cheaper, the better, since the contender is usually lighter&papers.

Companies have been sending vapes to reviewers for free since always, meanwhile many FC members have received free vapes to beta test and/or review here, with varying levels of transparency following each company's requirements... So I would say no, it is not hard to test something without paying for it, though some could argue that colors any review with a bias, but the whole point is a good reviewer takes the price into consideration to help others with manufacturer feedback and consumer recommendations. This situation was a little different in that there was a post requesting reviewers specifically, and many were sent out, but it is far from the first time free products have been sent to FC members for testing and promotion... It is for the reader to decide how much they trust each individual reviewer?

The fact this vape is real cheap makes it highly attractive
If I was in the market for a stealth vape, cheap vape, or first time vape. This would definitely be on the list and it is some good quality and bang for the buck. By no means is this thing cheap. May rip a bowl with a coffee on the way to my girls tonight.

Alright then; My review will tell you how to get into your FlowerMate CAP vaporizer. And how not to :rockon:

First of all, I did not receive my DHL notification. However, Flowermate was fully on top of getting me the test unit. I was PM'd by @FLOWERMATE OFFICIAL to know if I was interested. I was very clear that I would be disassembling the unit to share the gruesome details of their insides. And I also told 'The Official' that people love this so don't make me eat my words :ninja:

So for my first image, PRO: Nice BoxWorx :tup:

This next part is moot to show but it does add context. Thank you for those that have already shown the investment obviously found important enough to include two very nice ceramic pieces. These are molded and fired ceramics but the fact that they are included shows a nice degree of fit and finish. Everyone wants to extend that path length. And with good reason. I am not sure I am quite as appreciative of the cavity that generates a vacuum, however. Between the actual tip and the dress-face of the housing, some general bio-sharing will happened. And it is an area one should know to clean on a regular basis. I'd suggest not sharing the unit without this understanding. :tinfoil:

As to the smell that has already been referred to; yea. What can I say, I won't draw from it. I heated it up and it stopped me dead in my tracks. No worries; all but gain for this thread. I am obviously going to give FlowerMate the benefit of the doubt that this formulation of silicon is safe for the intended use-case well into the 420F range. After all, they have a whole lot of devices under their belts.

To be fair I asked my wife to smell just the flexible piece. She couldn't smell anything. Then I put it together and ran it dry to 420F. Ripped the cap off and let her smell that. That was an immediate rejection. Then a whiff of the chamber also got that really "why did you do that to me?" vibe. We're not even to inhaling stuff from it yet, just sniffing! What's worse in my view is that it smelled an awful lot like Buna-N... basic ordinary o-ring material. I don't know that silicon has that same odor normally. I only mention this in that I cannot answer if this scent is something that will off-gas in time, can be baked out in the factory, or if this is a normal off-gassing rate. I hope it is just part of a break-in. Others will weigh that to death. ;)

For my second image; CON - It stinks when heated. Fine at room temperature.

For my third trick, all hail destructive testing :rockon: Just so you know, I did not do what I am going to prescribe. Know I went in through the top to get here...

If you want to open this thing up, it will fight you. The top is a snap-fit that has a super hold. Once they are together, the latches don't want to give up their hold. ...it gave up for me.
BUT THIS COMES WITH A WARNING!
There are two skinny little wires that, once crossed, are like an open light bulb. The cell inside is a 10A LiPo that will blaze all 0.95 amp/hours of power in short order. I got lucky the first time, but I did cross them. A lot of smoke and the LEDS lit up bright white. And spoiler; the circuit is still working at the time of this writing.

To get inside, this bottom cap can be removed with a narrow faced screwdriver and a simple twist in the groove between the plastic and the metal. Go in at the sides if the power button is the front. Remove the board while still attached to the wires. It will go out the other end with the rest of the guts. You might take note of how the vibrator (white thingy) is situated. Again, I started from the other end.

Image No. 3 ; PRO - The dress, fit, and finish of the USB and bottom cap is nice. These two screws are the same as the others in the unit. The fit is a simple snap-fit. Recesses are coined in the case. Both the case and plastics are as good as it gets.

Note how the red and black wires are pristine in the previous image :science:

On to image 4 where I finally wrestled the guts from the case. The top of the case has 4 serious indents that the plastic snaps into. It took deformation to pop those loose. I'm sure there is a trick but with a re-insertion, I didn't get it. If I figure out a way to pop the business end off, I'll post an addendum.

You've been warned of hazardous energy levels. I was able to handle this well enough but you are in technician territory now. The unit does have a distinctive chamber for the air path and the intakes are filters with a course stainless steel screen. There is a silicone seal between the heating chamber and the electronics chamber that would only allow minimal environmental sharing. It would qualify the environmental seal as a recognizable NEMA rating, but that just says dust doesn't want to get in, but could. It is well thought out in most respects. Anything I could add are niggles with regard to shielding electronics from the vape path.

There are a series of screws that connect the upper plastic frame to the lower circuit carrying frame. This clamps a silicon rubber seal. It might be wise to loosen those screws from the bottom when you've removed the bottom cap.

Image 4 deserves a PRO on general layout and vape-path considerations with regard to electronics and cells.

Now for the meat of the unit. No fake meat here. This is tech at its.. wait.. Oldest? And Newest joined in a cool technique.

The bowl is not stainless steel. Put a magnet on it. It is iron. Better explained, it is the old glazed cookware you probably have in your cupboards. What is unique is the conductive paint they use to create a heater on the cylindrical surface. It's a technique used in industry for conductive paths on ceramics for decades but a controlled heating element on a cylinder, that gets kudos. Also note the tiny thermister and the solder joints on the bowl. They were nice and clean solder joints as well.

What didn't get my kudos is the pile of tape and cotton. The tape is not particularly sticky. It has the consistency of taffy. One layer is applied over the solder joints. A second layer attaches the thermister slightly above and between the solder joints. A dense wrapping of cotton (presumably) followed terminated with two layers of this same tape. This whole lot is again insulated with a stainless steel ring and the stainless steel air vents. This heater-insulation layer is in the incoming air path. I see no means for particulate generation from any of this unless this tape gets brittle over time. The cotton is well encased in the tape.

Again, I have to give benefit of the doubt to FlowerMate. This mushy tape must be a qualified material to wrap around a metal heater capable of functioning to 420 degrees F plus margin. Am I comfortable with this arrangement personally? Not in the least! Am I impressed by the engineering? Oh yea!

The only other note I will ad is the other materials in contact with the chamber; the upper clear silicon seal is in direct contact as is the plastic piece that the chamber sits on. Likely well rated for the temperatures but not in my vape.

Image No. 5; CON - Too many unverifiable unknowns with regard to material.

And for a quick note: this is the battery they use. Nice little power plant. 3 of these and you could power your portable IH for your VC.

Picture #6 - PRO - Serious dedication to providing power. This is easily equivalent in storage to a any 18650 with a pretty good drain rating.

Although I've completely maimed this poor device, the core of the unit is still functional. Charging is a bit tougher but you get my drift. If you do power it up in this state, be sure to have the thermister close to the bowl or it won't get an up-to-temp signal and possibly run-away on you.

This did get me to a start thinking of what happens if there is a fault? What if the thermister went bad? What would the unit off-gas in a single fault condition if the temps went nuts? What is the backup protection? I don't know how their assessment answered that question.

Image No. 7 - PRO - Robust modular build with quality components at its core. This is a cohesive design team that learns from every design. Their dedicated effort is certainly reflected in this product.

I too want to thank @FLOWERMATE OFFICIAL for the opportunity to have a look at one of their newest products. I am even more grateful that when fully notified of my intent, they're confidence in their product did not deter their decision to send a review unit to me.

If you remove all my bias from this review and trust the design team from this California company then this is a unit worthy of your attention. It is indeed a well thought out design and a honest to goodness quality implementation.

If there is anything that needs to be done is to address the out-gassing of the main black rubber piece in the cap. It is not above industry to 'cure' certain plastic parts in order to remove 90% or more of the volatilizes from their moldings.

wow, great disassembling pics and impressions, thanks

First I'll thank Flowermate for sending me this great little device.
What I don't like:
- lots of plastic and silicon, resulting in mentioned taste
- no exchangeable cell
- the mouthpiece is clogging quite fast when using fine grind (maybe a second or denser screen would be better?)
- personally could need one more heating step
- the metal parts of the mouthpiece are getting quite hot, and it's possible to touch em with your lips or your tongue if you're clumsy. But you won't get burned, it's more a little "ugh it's hot" shock

What I like:
- it's fucking tiny! I've small hands, but can keep it in my fist
- it's fucking stealthy! stealthiest vape ever I think. It looks like an USB stick or some key holder or something but never ever like a device for consuming drugs. You can start it in your pocket, get the feedback when it's heated up, take it out, take a puff, put it back, keep it in your pocket while heater warms up again, put it out, take a puff and so on
- it's very very well built, looks and feels great
- beside of the new/plastic/robotic taste in the beginning, the taste is very well
- the mouthpiece is well thought and easy to clean
- over all it simply is a really nice and well built device, coming in a nice packag for a great price and it makes fun

Honestly I've never ever bought the CAP cause I'm more a wood/handmade guy, but after owning it for a week, I've mentioned, I've used the CAP at least once a day :D

Hmmm. I've never tried putting the screen on the top of the herb. I've always dropped it to the bottom, since the holes in the bottom of the bowl are so much larger, and I want to cut down on the chunks that could fall through the holes into where I can't ever clean.

I may consider dropping a second screen on the top if I don't want to fill the chamber all the way.

They sent it to many of us that responded to their offer of a free vape to test/review. I'm not sure how they selected who received one other than that. What I can say is that they sent me one at no charge, and all that they requested is that I review it. They gave no restrictions on what I can say, they made no requirements about what I can or cannot say either way. They literally asked for nothing but an honest review, and there was absolutely no contractual agreement that I would do or not do anything...and an honest review is what I plan to give after I've been using this thing for a few days.

No, I have not been asked to give the vape back when I am done. As far as I know, the vape is free to keep with no strings attached.

Of course I assess if it's worth the money. I've seen the price range they'll probably be selling this vape for, so I can gauge it's value to me based on that.

Of course it's a marketing tool, which I'm perfectly okay with as long as it's done honestly, and with no requirements on the testers that would cause them to be biased.

I've heard of other companies that have offered a free vape for testing...but only to established popular vape testers (youtubers, bloggers, etc...which is not as good, because it's not a random sample of real users, which I would suspect delivers superior feedback data to that given by professional reviewers)...and the companies made the reviewers sign NDA's agreeing to not mention certain things, and not say certain negative things about the product/company, and required them to mention certain things. None of that type of behavior is the case here.

The company benefits from a good sample size of real users giving real feedback that helps the company to both improve the product and to market it better. I also suspect that the vaporizers which the company gave out for free actually costs them less than it would to hire a team of professionals to help with the development and marketing. Plus, the feedback that they get from a good size sample of random users will probably give the company better data than a small group of expensive professional reviewers/marketers who may not even really care about using this type of product in their everyday life. And finally, the reviewers get a free new toy to play with and give their honest opinions on. Neither side is being taken advantage of, no one is being dishonest, and both sides receive something in return. It's win/win.

Ill add my views once Ive put it through some real paces but after reading what others have posted Im left with a few questions.

If the amount of plastic and silicone is unacceptable in this vape, what would be an alternative? I mean really Im all for getting the plastic and silicone out of our products we use, but, considering the size, use case, cost, etc etc......whats the answer?

2ndly, where exactly are you guys pulling this "medical device" or "medical certified" nonsense from? There is 1 single mention of the word medical on the packaging "medical grade zirconia" and also only 1 single mention on each product page "made with best medical grade materials" on the website and even that is CLEARLY not a medical certification in any way shape or form. It was mentioned that FM has several medical certified devices already......where? By whom? Also, as has happened in the VolcanoHybrid/SnB is the Devil thread, everyone seems to be hanging their hats on the term "Medical grade" and "Medical device", from my experience in manufacturing certified (not medical, just standards bodies) devices for anything, even in say an ISO9000 90001 or whatever certified facility, the individual product lines internal to the factory/company had to be certified on top of everything else. As since this device doesn't really make any actual claim to be a medical device, I think judging it as if it is simply because the box says "medical grade zirconia" is disingenuous at best. Also, if it in fact is somehow certified medical by someone, would that make the specific smells and off gassing thats happening with these devices, be ok?


initially I think this is a killer device for something of its size and true intent.


And as an aside I still have yet to see 1 single Volcano Hybrid labeled as a Medical Volcano (they are stamped at the factory as such)

Nice disassembly ! The airpath seems to be somewhat insulated at least from the rest of electronics. My unit has a low rboot fart/ smell profile compared to other conduction devices.i have used. For sure concept isnt as pure as the Divine Tribe herb atty,but it isnt terrible . The medical certifying for vapes doesnt really mean much to me, S&B products are as medical as the statement that - "volcano is the best vaporizer in the world",(dont mind the plastic herb chamber,lol )... There are many medical appliances that are made of bunch of plastic though,so something being up to medical standarts makes it safe enough and easy to maintain ,not ultimately pure like an all glass concept.There is a medical steam inhalation device at my GPs cabinet and it is a bunch of white plastic and it is a Astma inhaler/Nebulizer that mists PG/VG directly into your lungs.. pretty much like e-cigs ,now they suddenly freak all about. Also it is their standart to sell you their products,loaded with sorbitol,e-numbers and other cancerous shit mixed along with the active ingredient,that is supposed to help for something.
@TommyDee There are more than a few magnetic Stainless steels. For example the SS420 used for Cutlery and cooking cause it is Nickel Free .

I personally had pretty low expectations about the CAP and i am surprised that it have surpassed them. Would i use this unit daily ? Probably never,but i could see myself using it in situation where hissing with a torch and aiming at the dynavap is not possible ... The main seeling points are its tiny size and the that the heater makes a good use of the battery providing decent number of sessions.If you are looking for a better flavour i suggest looking past the conduction chamber technology,IMO the CAP performs very decent in that League. Maybe the cap/mouthpiece system needs more work ,I mentioned that i prefer the old type screw on connection like in the classic FM 5.0 .

Of course you are right @ensabbahnur ...this is probably a marketing thing that got stuck on me as they do indeed have some medical devices. In general that is a good thing as they know how to design things correctly. That is something @FLOWERMATE OFFICIAL can clarify. I will take back all that until verified and give FlowerMate the benefit of the doubt that they are using 'best practices' for commercial products.

As to alternatives, simple is VapCap. And a thousand levels in between. When I started searching for vapes I thought about a $50 widget vapes. It soon became clear that this is a class of vapes are very popular despite their coloring of the flavor. Wasn't for me. I don't see the plastics as particularly odorous in the CAP. It is clearly the one piece in the lid when temperatures are elevated.

@Abysmal Vapor - of course you are right but I'll take 10:1 odds its not. This tech doesn't need a quality base metal as it is encapsulated in a ceramic coating. This is how VapMan can use a copper bowl sealing it in Gold. The entire piece is ceramic coated and screened with a conductive epoxy, paint, ink, whatever you want to call it. One technique I know is Moly-Manganese paint fired onto the ceramic coating. These are high temperature operations that only require a simple base metal.

Yes, exactly. I was thinking enameled colander but same idea. Putting conductive traces as a heater and mechanical attachment using fused metal to a ceramic base is credit to their engineering. Enamel is one coating among many.

FWIW I will add I was actually contacted by them, as opposed to me contacting them, in this case (I actually saw the post requesting testers after). Sometimes I reach out to companies, sometimes they reach out to me, and most often I buy a lot of vapes! :ko:

Also I do think the price could be lower still, though it is solid and nicer than many alternatives. Surprised I am not more sensitive to the taste of mine, perhaps some are better than others? Did anyone actually get more than one yet? lol

Word of mouth is the best advertising! They have a nice little product here. I like it so much that its raining terribly outside and I left it in my car, I actually braved the rain to get it! It's a fun little unit to use.

It's a technique used in industry for conductive paths on ceramics for decades but a controlled heating element on a cylinder, that gets kudos. Also note the tiny thermister and the solder joints on the bowl. They were nice and clean solder joints as well.

What didn't get my kudos is the pile of tape and cotton. The tape is not particularly sticky. It has the consistency of taffy. One layer is applied over the solder joints. A second layer attaches the thermister slightly above and between the solder joints. A dense wrapping of cotton (presumably) followed terminated with two layers of this same tape. This whole lot is again insulated with a stainless steel ring and the stainless steel air vents. This heater-insulation layer is in the incoming air path. I see no means for particulate generation from any of this unless this tape gets brittle over time. The cotton is well encased in the tape.

Again, I have to give benefit of the doubt to FlowerMate. This mushy tape must be a qualified material to wrap around a metal heater capable of functioning to 420 degrees F plus margin. Am I comfortable with this arrangement personally? Not in the least! Am I impressed by the engineering? Oh yea!

The only other note I will ad is the other materials in contact with the chamber; the upper clear silicon seal is in direct contact as is the plastic piece that the chamber sits on. Likely well rated for the temperatures but not in my vape.

And for a quick note: this is the battery they use. Nice little power plant. 3 of these and you could power your portable IH for your VC.

Picture #6 - PRO - Serious dedication to providing power. This is easily equivalent in storage to a any 18650 with a pretty good drain rating.

Although I've completely maimed this poor device, the core of the unit is still functional. Charging is a bit tougher but you get my drift. If you do power it up in this state, be sure to have the thermister close to the bowl or it won't get an up-to-temp signal and possibly run-away on you.

This did get me to a start thinking of what happens if there is a fault? What if the thermister went bad? What would the unit off-gas in a single fault condition if the temps went nuts? What is the backup protection? I don't know how their assessment answered that question.

I put a length of silicone tubing into the intake of my small dry bubbler and put the CAP upside down onto the silicone (centering the mouthpiece hole with the tubing hole) and applying a little pressure. It was interesting to see the actual vapor.
Did you try with water? I'd like to see someone try this wonder if the cap can do it? I dont have any water pieces to try.

I don't use water, but the function is essentially the same. It will fog up a piece but it doesn't get as dense as say the vapcap and no where near the Elev8r
I hated water path when RAGGIE and BONG were introduced !
Small mouthpiece with a “M” is BLISSFUL.
1970 was joint’s made of paper!
Some of pot smoker’s like them!
I stay with joint’s until 2012.
The “M” is already a improvement?
The CAP is perfect for me since a flame is not need!

Land of the long vapor cloud
Well my CAP arrived today. So ill offer up my initial review. :)

It came well packed, the retail box is quality and easy to open. The CAP unit itself is quality too, its small, fits nice in the hand and the mouthpiece is easy to use.

I cleaned the removable parts in hot water and some detergent, then rinsed well in more hot water before being set out to dry.
I also gave the oven a wipe out with iso.
Reassembled everything and put it on to charge.

Once it was fully charged, I fired it up on the highest setting and gave it a dry run/burnoff. Robot fart smell, another burn off, same deal, rinse and repeat till charge depleted.
Charged the CAP for a second time, another burnoff, still smelly but less, so just kept on with the burnoffs till battery was flat again. Charged for a third time, same deal but less smell. I reckon it's the gasket, not sure what it's made of exactly.

I am particularly sensitive to smells/taste though. Once I'm satisfied with the smell level I'll give it a proper run.

It heats up real quick, and the mouthpiece gets pretty dang hot, but that's not surprising considering how compact the CAP is.

If this material is mostly silicone then you can try off-gassing it in an over at about 200F. This is the normal process for removing moisture from most rubberized materials. Of course, you could bake it up to 400F if you also wanted to test suitability for the job at hand.

I will say however that the only part exposed to the heating chamber is the lip of the rubber piece itself. The rest is blocked by the plastic housing.
