Hi mate, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. The glass extends a fair way past the screen and it just looks like you have moved the screen down by 1mm. That’s not wood that you’re seeing, it’s just dirty glass. RBT rough up the glass where the screen sits so it has something to grip onto. You should be able to find some videos on RBT YouTube channel to see what the insides actually look like.

@bossman is your 3 battery dna250c a triade? It’s interesting that you like the drone better. I’ve got a drone which I really like but imagined the triade would be better. Thought it would be more balanced as the batteries aren’t all in one side and the extra battery life would be a bonus. I’ve actually been keeping my eye out for a triade but they’re hard to find. I’m hoping lost vape rerelease them like they did with the paranormal.

My three cell is a Think Vape Finder. I've never used a Triade but would consider picking one up if the old deals ever return. The Finder was $96 shipped and fits my Zs well so no complaints either way.

But I meant that brown line under the rough strip of glass.
In the second photo you can see clearly: it is not glass, at first I thought they were herb's residues, but I think it is Splinter's wood.

Do you think you can fix it?
I will be looking for RBT videos on YouTube ...

You may have torn the screen loose from the glass, but as I recall the glass continues for another 1/2- to3/4 of an inch below the screen.

At the point I indicated there is a "step" between the glass and the screen and in that empty line, verified with the help of the small tool provided, that brown line you see, it looks just like wood.
Yet I saw the RBT video and I notice that the glass chamber is very long ...
I'm confused.

Heeeeey Brada. I know this is a v1z vs my custom, but it had a ton of “what tha fuuuuck” when I got my wenge Z. Same as youre seeing, but without forcing the screen down. Came that way nat’ralay:

It is indeed (or looks to be) simply unfrosted glass below the frosted portion (which I know from when I pulled the whole of the damn glass out with my drydrotube-there’s plenty GLASS below that thar screen, like so:

I got some more LG HG2 18650s and they let me get my first Z back in the game. It's a custom bubinga on the pipsquack of mods the hcigar VT75D.

I already have some of these brown LG batteries (let's all agree to write out the word batteries and not abbreviate, shall we?) and while I definitely like them these new ones are from Liion Wholesale rather than Illumn and the Z is running hotter than ever but so even and satisfying I refuse to even try my Sony or Samsung cells to see if it reverts.

Prior to these batteries arriving the bubinga Z was my lowest resistance at .387ohm. It was surprisingly hot at 360 to 370° on my first bowl so I lowered the resistance to .38 and trimmed the max watts back to 55W. Still it's a quick warm Z as configured and will get right to dense vapor production down to like 345°. At 365° it'll cache a bowl in three big hits now.

@KeroZen or anyone who knows how these batteries work. Do you think it's more likely that my early HG2s were old or less punchy somehow? I guess I should at least try swapping those in if I'm gonna waste other people's time asking questions. The performance is glorious though and I'm not trying to adjust it now. I've never cared what the displayed temp is in TC as long as I have even avb and quick clouds. This combo isn't my best for stretching out flavor hits and not browning too quickly but it's been first in line for the week or two since those new batteries happened. I love how a Z has a different personality on each mod while still being so configurable. Just backing off the resistance has earned this combo Z Of The Month status.

Yes, we would like to think TC should be independent of cell health as it's regulated after all, but indeed the cell state has an impact. Ideally you would need to adjust your PI(D) coefficients to take this parameter into account, but it's impractical.

Hey, long time e-cig user here and those LG2s have been my go-to batteries for something like four years. I love them. They're all I use honestly. Most likely your others are just old. There isn't really a noticeable drop in performance until you switch to brand new batteries, then it becomes a bit more obvious depending on how old your others might be.

So I haven't been around here much lately but I too just picked up a few more HG2s to go with my new ZV2 that I am currently running on my RX 2/3 in wattage mode. I would really love to find a reasonably priced DNA mod to pair with it. I figure my best bet for that is a Drone but the pricing I'm seeing on drones in stock is really not that good. If anybody see is a decent DNA mod for sale in in stock anywhere please shout out.

So, I ordered the Splinter V2 Z, the Wismec, and 4 batteries last week. The Splinter, according to USPS tracking, was supposed to be delivered yesterday (up to 8pm). Didn't arrive. Now the tracking states that it's on it's on it's way (not out on delivery) with no specific delivery date. An email last week from Wismec pronounced the device has been shipped - no tracking information. Yesterday, a gentlemen from Wismec called to inform me that they no longer have the color I ordered. I mentioned that I was informed that the unit was shipped last week. It wasn't. I cancelled the order. The batteries are scheduled to be delivered on Monday. We will see.

Locally, I can buy a Geekvape Aegis X for about $15 more than the Wismec. The reviews have been favorable. Anyone familiar with this brand? If it is a good unit I will pick it up tomorrow.

Incidentally, why do I need to adjust ohms?

Geekvape is good. I haven't used any of their mods, but they have a really good reputation on ECF so I'd say go for it if you're so inclined.

You don't per se need to adjust ohms. Some have mentioned that they do so, and that's one way to affect the vape because TC works by looking at your base resistance then measuring the change in resistance as you apply heat. You could also just change the temp etc. It's rather complex and I just did a terrible job explaining it LOL, but it's not something that you'll necessarily need to do. I haven't, I just use the base resistance of the coil in my Splinters.

ETA: I'd actually be curious as to why those of you who have manually changed your resistance have done so. Genuine curiosity. I do get part of why but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Personally I think it makes sense to get the Wismec RX Gen3 Dual because it assures you of starting from the same hardware when the time comes to adjust any settings for best performance. Once you have the ZV2s and the batteries (lookin at you @Shit Snacks and @eideal852 !) I wouldn't blame you for buying something local just to get your vape on, especially since the rxg3d sales lately have been from Chinese warehouses, which isn't always the case.

Maybe grab something from a local shop that only takes a single batteries (but just one in the shop with it) or better yet maybe a cheap fixed internal one it could be even more compact?

This way you can have something to use it with power mode in the meantime, get a feel for it, while you shop around to find the G3D or maybe a DNA mod that you can set for temp control...

When you are using power mode, no temperature just wattage, you will not need to worry about tinkering with any settings at all. This is why it is just a good starting point, you can use it right away out of the box, then you're just focusing on general technique with this type of vape before you figure out how to set it up with the temperature settings you're used to etc.

Yeah, well, in my case choosing the "cool" material file was actually sort of a game changer, I haven't used anything but TC mode ever since and it's just more reliable and faster than ever before. Not sure at all what the actual difference is, but I see the results and they're impressive. Might have to do with what Ryan once said, how the splinters are basically all unique. Which I guess is another way of saying he can't make two splinters exactly the same.

The stock theme doesn't put as much useful stuff right on the main display screen and Frank's theme, while too busy and colorful for my taste, allows useful stuff to be monitored and edited without diving into the menus. This is only for DNAc mods only of course.

Didn't get any vapor using the default settings. In manual wattage mode I'm getting good hits, anyone wanna help me troubleshoot?

not my Z but figured i would share. Went to take my V off the mod and it made a crunch sound then the wood spun on the metal base. Then i realized the glass was loose!!

@TiSteamo the glass goes all the way to the bottom and the screen sits in the middle of the glass.
