Its worth it, but not from ABV IMO.
I remember I used to do it from ABV, taste wise, it was quite bad, and it took forever (water wash) ... and then when I got arrested with 50g of ABV, I decided to stop keeping ABV.

But if you use a water adapter and it feels up with resin, I would reclaim that, its well worth it!
Very strong.

BTW, whats Mct oil?

Thank you for your generosity, PPN!

I’ve never had experience of the first type you describe, but I’ve seen pictures...I *do* differentiate between soaking an unscraped pipe, and rinsing resin from tools and glassware. I know my methods are anathema to goo purists, but I don’t mind: since I gave up mids for the high-priced stuff, my reclaim does not have that burnt, brackish flavor; moreover, it works just fine, from a medicinal standpoint - for which I’m grateful...it eases my aches, and gives me just enough of that expansive lift: just enough to make it well worth my while to do the dance.

When I smoked mj with a pipe, which I did for more than 30 years, I used to love cleaning the pipe and smoking the black resin I scraped out of the bowl and pushed out of the stem. Mostly this was something I did when I ran out of dope. But in fact I liked it so much, I would sometimes smoke when I wasn't really that into it just to build up more gunk. Always got me really high. Now that I'm vaping--just over five years now--and now that weed has become so much better and so much more available I don't try to re-use the stuff that accumulates in my vapes.

And this morning was another first regarding ABV. I've been saving it since I started vaping. I used it once along with a pile of trimmings from outstanding homegrown to make some really nice cannabutter for brownies, where the burnt taste is masked. This morning I was emptying and refilling a bunch of dosing caps and the little vacuum jar I use for ABV was filled and overflowing, making a mess even after I tried tamping it down. So I went to empty it into the big ABV jar in the freezer, and it too was filled to overflowing. So I stepped outside and emptied about a 1/4oz of ABV from the small jar over the railing of the deck. Why use crap when I have several varieties of outstanding stuff I got from a medical provider in Maine. The market is very competitive there and so prices are reasonable and quality, which was already high!, keeps getting better.

that black tar of death resin... messed with that stuff many times way back - f-ing gross.
vape reclaim is like Honey compared to smoke resin ... I try and keep all my vapor in glass now so as to reclaim easily and not have plastic and metal to clean ETC....
If I was in Maine I'd get your ABV LOL, don't throw it out if you know someone... could be a blessing for someone who needs rest

Stash is getting low so medicating with some drop down rosin reclaim. Very medicinal tasting but potent none the less. Doesn't seem 100% decarboxylated as I did see a little bubbling when dabbed. Thinking about adding in a drop of terpenes and see if I can boost the effects.

I used that jar of infused Everclear a month or two ago. I got impatient.

Plus, I got rather sick for several days, and I really needed to sleep. A couple shots of that worked lovely.
One day I took 4-shots of it over about an hour at home, around 8pm...and a couple hours later I was starting to get worried I was going to be too fucked up to go to work in 10-hours as I began to get closer to the peak of the high. I was fine in the morning, but gat-damn, that was an uplifting and lovely night!

I will definitely make more...and no need to reduce, as the 180-proof alcohol buzz mingles very nicely with the cannabinoid high.

I have been keeping a mason jar of Everclear/151 proof that I put my glass in to soak/clean. After a couple days I take the glass out using a metal claw, use a beaker brush on the glass to loosen the harder stuff and then give it one more rinse in the Everclear. Glass comes out sparkling.

The result is a very dark brown liquid with tiny pieces of cannabis plant matter floating around.

Been doing the above for awhile and can hardly see through the mason jar anymore.

My questions are:
- I'm thinking of straining the liquid to remove the plant matter. Anyone tried to strain this stuff using a coffee filter or cheesecloth?

- Once its strained I was thinking of:
--> Option 1: Using the resulting liquid to mix with cranberry juice to drink it like a vodka and cranberry *OR*
--> Option 2: Making a tincture by letting the liquid evaporate for a bit *OR*
--> Option 3: Letting it evaporate until there is no liquid left and vape it.
Which of the options would you choose and why? I'm taking a pass on using it for edibles because I'm a lazy so and so.

Any other comments/suggestions?

Each night I enjoy a vodka and cranberry so evaporating the Everclear sounds like blasphemy to me but I've never tried this before so maybe you folks have a reason why I might want to try other options.

Prohibition (price and availability) is the only reason anyone would want to bother with reclaim. Sort of equivalent to that poor drunk who goes around gulping the dregs from glasses laying around the bar and swallows a few cigarette butts in the process.
Evaporated iso reclaim is just gross. Cotton or hemp used to swab out, then vape in a convection vaporizer is the only way to go, if you are desperate. ABV has already been vaped and has nothing I want left in it.

I would choose option 3 but that's just personal preference. I save my AVB and mostly just re-vape it in the flowerpot. I have done the evaporate with alcohol thing and it worked fine, still not the greatest taste, but sometimes it can be quite potent.

@west-elec - way to burst my bubble ;)

Seriously ... I had this vision of me saving this mixture for a cold, rainy, dreary day where I ordered a pizza, binged something good while occasionally taking a shot until coherent thought was a bridge too far. Kinda hoping I could meld the cannabis and alcohol buzz with one move. I did say I'm lazy.....

Sorry to spoil the fun but I am a grower so I can afford to be a snob.
The problem I see with iso jars left to sit is the actives, already stripped of their waxy coating are exposed to the light and will degrade quite quickly. You should keep in cool dark place, in my climate that would mean the fridge. People keeping their jars out at room temp for a year will be degrading more than they are keeping.
You might be best off adding direct to your drink but I doubt the cranberry juice will cover the taste, so your nightly totty might not be so enjoyable.
Option 2, not gonna be nice. It gets sludgy when you evaporate reclaim.
Option 3, if you have a dab rig or pen you can vape it but as you saw from previous post I am not a fan. It will ruin you vape pen atty, never get it clean again. Not as good a high, half degraded, half missing, not the same at all.
You can certainly strain it with coffee filters easily.

Good advice.....I'm moving it to a cold, dark place ...

One more question.....how much worse than a tequila shot can this stuff be?

Yeah. I wouldn't do the cranberry juice route. The stuff would still taste pretty bad.

I used it by mixing a shot of it into about half a whisky glass of very strongly mixed pink lemonade made from kool-aid type powdered drink mix, mixed strongly enough so it drowned out most of the reclaim taste, and slam that in a couple of quick swallows.

Worth it or not is pretty relative. As a grower, I do not use reclaim in any way. I just wash them and be done with it. I do recycle the ISO though, as much as I can before dumping them too.

I can however totally understand if materials/finances are scarce. The knowledge is definitely welcome, for a rainy day lol.

With one week of abv i get equivalent of one sleeping pills.
That's how i use it, as sleeping pills

but with reclaim, a month is not enough to get something potent... but i still put my iso in "bain marie" and just make hot chocolate when i've accumulate enough

We use Virgin coconut oil ... I put a fan in the room off the carport and put the reclaim alcohol in a glass dish and run a fan over it ... keep refilling dish until no more left to evap and then make sure all alcohol evaps off the glass leaving only stuck residue remains on the glass edges .. put in coconut oil at this point and then heat it up ... move the oil around some and it starts to soak up the cannabis oil . then use that as needed , either topically or internally . also makes a great homeade Fiora

I enjoy alcohol and herb on a daily basis so using Everclear and reclaim, similar to tequila shots, seemed like a good match. Sounds like the taste is a big draw back and that the high may be best suited for use as a sleep aid instead of watching the 4 hour Justice League. Watching something like the Justice League was my goal. If the reclaim results in a drowsy high then adding alcohol to the mix would definitely be lights out. The other aspect... "I have access to legal herb so I wouldn't bother" was interesting to me because it also implies the result isn't worth the effort.

Thanks for all the info folks! Greatly appreciated!

Here (france) we only have the polish drink "spirytus" but 15 times more expensive than iso...
so i stick with iso...
Only one shot of iso will give cirrhosis, so have to boil all (or the most.)

My tips for reclaim drink is to use a biscuit, cause reclaim tend to stick to the glass if u have to boil all the alcohol (or iso). Just scratch it with the biscuit

I think it was @beyond6strings who hipped me to stem milk back when I started vaping. My current method (when I can be bothered) is to warm a shallow pan with oat milk and a tablespoon of coconut oil. I simmer my j-hooks and Splinter stems until they're clean and then do shots of the stem milk to have some sense of a dose. No alcohol involved and abv just goes in the trash.

If I had separate stems for indica and sativa strains the stem milk option would likely be more fun. As it is the effects are more sedating than euphoric. Anecdotal but I do notice diminished effects from the cold stem milk leftovers. Maybe the coconut oil needs to be consumed in a liquid state for best results?

Also, not to faux moderate but I wish we'd just start new threads rather than politely resurrecting old threads on the same topic: it mostly leads to folks answering the OP question from years ago without realizing the current inquiry is somewhere in the last page. I'm allowing myself this little appended grumble because I can't post such a complaint on its own without the Catch 22 of promoting an old thread to the top again lol

@bossman on the other hand, I love when an old post like this ressurrects. I realize the way I walked and the evolution and accumulated quality info this forum has!

On the topic: I don't enjoy so much my tinctures, but my friends do. I give them eyedroppers once in a while. Here we use Anís Chinchón 74* - dry, not sweet. It costs about 25€ for 750ml.
My stems are saved until I clean them all for some Sunday morning and are flavour plenty. I'll start to used them separately for sativa-indica to check different effects.
