Arizer Solo II

@AJS how coarse is your grind? If you're finding it harsh I suggest a coarser shred, or even bits of nugs tamped in the bowl. Finer grinds can cause harshness, as well as reduce flavour, restrict airflow, and allow particulate through. If it's not that, it could be temp/technique related. Overall, out of all my vapes i've ever used the Solo wasn't the least harsh that's forsure. The conduction can cause this as well, when vapour "builds up" and then hits you harder than you think. I've noticed this with my Mighty/Crafty as well, when it "stews" for a bit, on upper temps.

It's pretty coarse but could go coarser. Temps are low. It only happens after lots of consecutive hits. And it's not necessarily the heat or anything ... Milaana and GH both technically hotter, GH definitely harsher overall...it's more of a tiny raspy feeling or a cough even if the hit isn't huge. so I'm thinking it's just the repetitive hits im not used to mixed with conduction I'm not used to. Plus "stewy" hits if I wait too long may make the vapor a tad harsher.

It's not even bad ... just something I noticed.

I'll try different coarseness and techniques. Thanks man!

Dude it's such a chill way to vape!!! Face completely upright .. stem comes to you. It's great!! Didn't 100% fix my slight harshness but need more testing. So far it's more enjoyable.

Nice to see 'new guys' discovering the bent stems. Many of us ended up using them a lot early on with Solo (came with two glass seems, full length, one straight, one bent......everybody had them, 'out of the box').

However, if you close your eyes and think as you use it you can see how frustrating it was to have gravity rotate the stem between hits? That's what led to the 0-ring under the cover mod, to stop that rotation not 'tighten up the loose stem problem'.

With the changed seal in Air (and it seems carried over to Solo 2) that's no longer an issue......

Haaa! Nice origin story!!
This is the loosest of all the stems but is effected less by gravity than a ship lightyears from earth.

The Air was tight for me ... but in a good way. My solo 2 is looser.

Vapes R Great
I got my old favorite PlanetVape vortex stem back from my sister who I gifted my Air too.
And I went to use it.. and it's got a big chip out on one of the cut notches!
No glass bits anywhere so she must of busted it before and not even noticed. She's still a novice in the vape game tho, I'm bring her along slowly haha.

I have been having some good results using domed screens in the stock stems to keep the air holes clear.
Also easier to microdose this way. Going to pick up a couple old bent solo stems before I order a new vortex.

Those first few hits are so tasty, I like to microdose and do fewer hits at higher temps. Sorta like a log as I was saying before.
I should probably get a log vape one of these days haha.

That Vortex stem is awesome, from Planetvape. It opens up airflow as well. I bought a couple of them. Usually when I buy glass stems I order 2 of the same because glass breaks. I still have the 2 Vortex stems I bought a year or so ago.

Glad I can use all my Solo and Air stems with the Solo 2.

The Solo 2 already has great airflow, especially when you pull the stem out a little as well as the bent stem adding even more. Think these are worth it ... or would it maybe just dilute the vapor more? Maybe turning the temp up a little more would combat the diluted vapor, leaving you with a high airflow high vapor end result. Hmmm

Edit: just did an airflow test ... solo 2 gong slightly pulled out a little, packed (lightly, half full) vs a GH with no herb in it at all. Even with the herb, the Solo 2 (from what I could tell using my lungs) beat the GH stock stem by quite a bit and beat the pfe by a little bit. With herb in the GH I would imagine the difference would be larger.

Fucking incredible! Not to mention just a small difference in reliability too eh? :brow: Arizer really nailed it!

Dug up my old domed screen from my AAir days ... I knew I kept these around for a year for a reason. Threw it in my bent and vaped on 370 for a while then put it on 400 to finish.

Effects are great.
Haven't touched any of my other vapes yet. Loving having a session back.

Abv looking nice.

Got my solo 2 and gong and have to say - this sucker is definitely worth it. Anyone worried about the 2 being too incremental should look at the difference between the the Vapolution 2.0 and 3 - the difference a better heater makes is ridiculous and a more open draw to boot can take a pretty average vape to a workhorse. That's the difference between the OG and 2. One's a pretty average vape (these days) and the 2's a workhorse that can power through bowls with the best session vapes (and the best on-demands if you're persistent). I highly recommend a tighter pack than is typical of a solo stem fwiw - the more open draw doesn't seem to favour the bottom of the bowl as much as the original and there has to be a greater element of convection going on so evenness isn't a problem and a tighter pack seems to make less of the harshness with finer grinds. Step it up to 220c, load a stem but don't insert until draw, pull, remove stem while drawing, repeat for your own portable log.

So I like all I'm hearing about the Airizer Solo 2, and I had a solo, currently use AAir as my portable. Where should I order one from? I'm in the US, but are ebay listings reliable? do they actually have warranty? or should i spend the extra $20 and order it through Arizer?

Could not agree more! I can't even believe PIU doesn't have them yet?? I guess this is an advantage of purchasing from a Canadian retailer from a Canadian manufacturer!

@AJS holy shit bro you're vid has just made my crafty's redundant and I think i'm going to sell both of them now! Fuck waiting 2 mins for heatup and when I could have the same temp in 20 sec! And through glass and not a stinky cooling unit! You da man!

Can anyone tell me how much the vapor smells with the new Solo? I ask because the vapor from my OG Solo is barely noticable but the vapor from my AAir is quite strong smelling and living in the UK means I need to keep a low profile. Thanks in advance.

Vapor smell is very hard to compare. Too many variables such as temperature, strain used and how clean the stem is. All vapes smell and a non user can smell cannabis even if you cannot.

Agreed. In my (modest) experience Solo and Air are basically identical, differences seen (or should that be 'smelled?) must be for something other than design differences. My money's on strain/cure differences.

FWIW nobody else I recall has ever suggested Solo and Air 'smell different in use' before?

I ran the same strain through both vapes at the same temp and for the same amount of time and I and both of my housemates noticed a discernable difference. The room smelled of weed after using the AAir but not after my OG Solo. Maybe the newer AAir is just more efficient?

After lots of reading on the mighty and the solo I think I will be purchasing the solo 2.

I micro dose (around 0.05-0.025) per bowl and from what I have read so far the Solo 2 is better than the mighty for micro dosing.

Just wanted to get some feedback on what others think would be a good choice between the mighty or solo 2 for micro dosing?

I will mainly be using my portable at home on the couch and walking my dog so im not really worried about stealth (more worried about the amount I will vape daily)

haha, did you read my last post in the Mighty thread? :brow: Solo II all the way!!! Also faster heatup, better flavour, no plastic parts, and way better reliability and most importantly customer service!

I'm selling my two crafty's because of the Solo II!

Don't usually quote myself, but what the heck, even though I know you've read the post:

Go with the Solo II! Faster heatup, no plastic parts and way better support, not that you'll need it with an Arizer product. Way more cost effective too, and easier to adapt to glass with a gong. Having owned them both, Solo II for the win. 10X better for micro dosing too.

The GonG is a huge thing IMO. No muzzmods or silicone adapter bullshit required!

I've said it before and i'll say it again, Arizer nailed it!
