@Vivant will the newest firmware come standard on all newer models? And besides the session length timer change, were there any other updates?

Hello Lookatmeglow, As of right now the newer inventory coming from our factory won't be updated already. The reason for this decision is so the user can have the option to either upgrade it or not just as like our cellphones when it provides an update :)

For this update V1.02 , the only difference was the safety timer.

We are open to suggestions everyone, so please feel free to throw ideas at us.
We will be working on future update versions at the same time.

Thank you everyone!!

@Vivant, I don't know if it's possible, but since the Alternate uses a 30amp battery, could the firmware be tweaked to speed up the heating time?

Hey Vaporsipper,

We are definitely looking into that. The heat up time is one of our priorities right now. I am hopeful it will work and we will be able to release a firmware update for this issue. Will keep you guys posted on this.

Thank you!

Hey FC Community,

We really want to gain insight as we appreciate all of your feedback.
What are some things you guys want to see the Alternate able to do or any suggestions on how to make it more of a reliable everyday vape for you guys?

As we listened to your opinions about the safety timer, we were able to resolve the issue with the firmware update we released this morning. We are already working on new firmware updates along with new products. Believe me, our team is on it for you guys :)

So we just want to gain some opinions and advice as we want to make products you guys want, need and like.

Please go ahead and give us some insight on here on how to make the Alternate better for you. Possibly we can work on firmware updates to get the satisfaction you guys want.

Looking forward to hearing from you all,
Thank you!!!

Better for me, hmmm :sherlock: I would say a free one would do it.

Just kidding haha:rofl:

Just my own personal preference, a screen on the side rather than the bottom, but that is a minor issue that really won't change the performance.

A capsule system that would allow prepackaged cans for traveling and group use. Possibly a concentrate tank or pads, something of that nature. A little multi tool is always a nice bonus in my opinion.

Not sure if I could think of an update to the firmware, you have already updated the thing I was most interested in. Besides that, a glass water pipe adapter or mouthpiece. Honestly, you all are on the right track and seem to be open to suggestions. I'm sure others here have better recommendations than I do.

Outside the scope of firmware, I would also love to see a capsule system for the Alternate. I use the S&B capsules with the Mighty and Crafty all the time, but unfortunately, they are a little too big to use with the Alternate... This would be #1 on my list!

First things first. LOVE the firmware update. Everything good that has been said about this thing is true. I also would like to add that I get more flavor throughout the bowl before it loses its taste. Clouds for days too. This is already my new daily driver. LOVE everything about this thing. Best thing is the replaceable batteries. I have plenty of 18650 batteries for my ecig mods so im not worried about power!

Well done Vivant! Cheers to you.

With all that said, I agree about maybe a pod system.

The one thing I'm looking forward to (I think Vivant mentioned it earlier?) Is a water pipe attachment. That would be the only other thing I would want. I feel it could really shine through water. That would put the cherry on top IMO

Keep it up Vivant. LOVE the Alternate thus far!

ETA:
Oops. I did forget to add that a con is the "top cap" does get pretty hot after a few minutes (which can be expected). Not sure there is much that can be done about that. Not a deal breaker at all. Just an observation.

@Xelatsok how would that work? I don't think there are two different heaters on the alternate? What could change to vary the conduction/convection levels?

I'd love to see a glass mouthpiece, a water pipe adapter that replaces the filling unit, capsule loading system and concentrate capsules. Also a firmware update to bring the heat up time below 20 seconds.

On the topic of another unit id love to see the screen moved to the side, and the bowl on the opposite side of the mouthpiece (like the pax) to provide a longer vapor path for collet vapor. I'm not super interested in a full convection unit, but multiple bowls within the unit could be cool!

I hope it has 2 heaters to control convection/conduction ratio.
I like the screen at the bottom.
I will gladly pay nice extra for all-glass or ceramic cooling unit. Same applies to mouthpiece, most vapes have shitty MPs unlike the tobacco pipes.

@Vivant
I would like to change temperature mid session instead of having to wait for the timer to expire before I can change temps. Hell, that was the only good thing about the 60 second timer, being able to change temps frequently.
What?! It doesn't allow to change a temp during a sesh?

I have been playing around with different cutoff times last evening. (Such a great added feature)

I have found that I too like the 60 sec timer for temp changes. I squeeze in about 4-5 (8-10 second draws) before the 60 seconds run out. Immediately bump the temp up and reheat. This gives me a quick moment to catch my breath.... collect myself and then start round 2.... And so on.
I feel like 3 minutes is plenty of time to get a good range of temps and plenty of hits. After that, I find my ABV is very evenly cooked. Very efficient this is! I love that I don't have to stir either. (I'm sure it would help in between but since the chamber is so small, I don't see a need)

Still... it is fun to play around with the different timers as the situation dictates.

I truly feel the 3-4min cutoff would be great with a WPA.

Cheers!

Well.....mines doesn't. Once I set the temp and press the heat button, that's it... I'm locked into that temp for 60 seconds. No biggie. Just bump the temp up and keep going. However, for a 5 minute timer I would like to be able change temps mid session. If I have to wait 5 minutes to change temp the load will be cooked already.

You don't have to wait the full 5 minutes.

You can hold in the power button for a few seconds to stop the timer. Bump up the temp and then hold the power button again to reheat.

Not a terrible inconvenience but it can be done.

I guess it would be best go stay with the 1min or 2min timer. Then change after the cutoff.

Cheers!

Hello, Believe it or not, but this is the current firmware update that we are testing and working on. We thought it would be great to be able to change the temperature during the session. Rest assured we are working on this full on and should have updates soon.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone for your opinions so far, please be assured that ALL your opinions are being taken into consideration. We are very fair people and want to please the community by providing devices you guys like, want and need at an affordable price for all. THANK YOU FC COMMUNITY!

Here are some pics of......THE ALTERNATE DISASSEMBLED!

Wondering what's under the hood?

Back side of the airflow switch.

Inside.

The screwdriver is pointing at the air intake port for the oven.

Chamber. Very nice air flow.

Circuit board.

The battery is obviously isolated but as you can see the air comes in directly through the side of the Alternate through the adjustable air flow switch directly into the bottom tube of the chamber.

Very nice.
Very clean and simple inside.
Well done @Vivant well done!

Due to my own lack of technical knowledge, based on your photos this does have an isolated air path? That is to say, the air comes in from the side port air flow switch, directly into the metal tube. Or am I wrong?

And would you say the air/vapor path is plastic, metal, ceramic oven, plastic mouthpiece? Just trying to get a better understanding, so all insight and information is helpful.

I had a problem getting stealth mode to work right. In the end, I felt like all the customization was great but the ways to do it were confusing. I would have to grab the manual every time to make sure I got it right. In other words, there were so many ways to customize it and most of them used some combo of two of the three buttons. After a while all the two-button press things get mixed up in my head.

Our assumption on that was that once you find the settings that you like the most, you probably wouldn't be changing anything other then stealth mode (how it was for me at least) which would then be only one thing to remember. We realize (at least for us) that remembering is sometimes an issue.lol. That said, with more customization comes more to do. Hope you are having a good day!
