First here's a video that I think explains and answer some of the questions that many people have about the caps. Let me know what you think.

Hello everyone! I (still) don't own a VapCap but I've been reading this post during some days. I really like the design of this vape!

While I was watching the video that George post, an idea came to my mind. Maybe it's going to be very difficult to manufacture and to adjust on the first prototypes, but how about a variable temperature cap? I don't know how exactly works the mechanism that makes the click sound, but I supose it's based on a material with a large coeficient of expansion. The mechanism I'm thinking about is a material that expands in a circular shape, so when it reaches a certain angle clicks. If the cap is made with two parts than one can twist on the other, the clicking point could be regulated by the user by twisting the part of the cap.

Here is an sketch of the idea:

So this is the basic idea, lots of details had to be added to it in order to become real someday, but who knows!

I just wanted to share because maybe it's useful for someone.

Vape on! :)

Wow!

What an unbelievable adventure the past few weeks has been.

Wisconsin reminded us that it is still winter here this morning.

And this one looked so innocent when separate from the 10 trillion others.

Some of which decided to stick together into a rather familiar shape.

This one is a bit taller than some. The flower pot hat is a 4 liter one. Total height ended up being 3.5m or over 10 feet.

Back at the shop, we have been putting a good deal of focus on improving our order fulfillment as well as streamlining more of our Manufacturing.

And of course it's hard to let a week go by without trying to improve something. So I thought I might have to show you a few of the things that we're working on.

First here's a video that I think explains and answer some of the questions that many people have about the caps. Let me know what you think.

And then I had an idea. For a while this one's been rolling around in my mind. I'm not quite sure what to call it, but it certainly has an interesting geometry.

IMG_20170125_201835414_zpsudkjb0p7.jpg

Please let me know what you think.

This business has given me a whole new appreciation for mathematics and geometry. I knew these things would be useful at some point in time in my life, however I had no idea it would be to this degree or while working on a project in this category.
It just truly makes me smile as I write this and I hope it can inspire more people to make something. I find few things to be more satisfying than converting an idea or concept from a thought in my mind into something tangible I can hold in my hand.
Seeing others make new and custom stems and accessories for their devices is great. I think it is this level of interaction and the corresponding innovation of other people in this community that is in part responsible for the accelerated development of this entire project.

So with that said, I would like to first ask everyone for a little bit of understanding if there's anything that we have not met your expectations on. If there is please let us know.
Most importantly, I think it is important to thank everyone who has participated on any level as it has been this participation and interaction that has not only helped me develop and improve this device, but has motivated me to move forward with the highest level of dedication and effort.

And now if morning could simply come sooner, I can't wait to get back to work!

Cheers,

George
That was a beautiful and inspiring post, George!

And that q'n'a video was spot on! You come across so well, and it's great to hear about all these little details and geek out to them - especially when it's coming straight from the creator.

And yeah, my trusty o.g Cap is still pumping out daily vapor through my many bubblers via a GonSonGonG configuration

Admittedly the glass has been swapped out due to breakage, but the clicking Cap is the original I recieved back at the beginning when we crowd funded the Vapcap campaign. And let me tell you, this thing gets some serious abuse! Vigorously torture tested but still clicking like a true champ.

Vapcap FTW!
Hiya- just got my vapcap (the OG one)- it's got a frosted end now- I take it you can't remove it to clean, etc?
They have had a frosted (bowl) end for quite some time now (6 months+?). And the Vapcap can be COMPLETELY disassembled for cleaning - which part are you referring to?
I like your thinking, and btw, nice graphic, dude
But, as George explained in his video, the Vapcap already has variable temperature capabilities - simply by adjusting your flame position while heating the Cap.

Gotta love how this thing brings out all the tinkers!

I'm happy that you liked it, man! :)

You are right, the actual cap already have variable temperature. But in my case, I know I won't be able to adjust the flame properly in some situations, specially after vaping some herb hahah So, in my opinion, I think that adjusting the click temperature would help on getting the same results every time I want.

Vape on! :)

Yay my country is finally moving towards decriminalization (A step in the right direction). We have a thumbs up from all the decision makers and it'll move forward over the next few weeks  I may finally get around to posting a video or two after all :leaf::rockon::worms::science::leaf:

That's pretty cool, I dig it. Looks legit. Nice to look at, nice form factor to touch, and very functional. Win, win win.

I have now realized I have no idea how you guys are rolling your vapcaps in your fingers. I just twist mine back and forth between two fingers *shrug*

Oh yeah, the community involvement and DIY side to the stems is a huge factor in the success. I sort of wish you guys had a gallery of custom stems on the site, both ones y'all created and ones the community did.

AFAICT *that* is the purpose of the 'spinning mouthpiece: brace the MP against your palm, turn the shaft w/ fingers. Per an email: "The spinning mp's make it easy to hold the mp in your hand and you can rotate the rest of the unit while you heat the tip"

Only a thought-experiment, tho: equipment still in transit has no spinning MP

Firstly, some relevant content - regarding baking pizza's without a timer (disregarding the click) in context of my previous post - I mentioned boost heating between clicks using a single jet lighter, using flavor as feedback to avoid overheating. Well, it's been working well for me :) However, I strongly advise against using a multi-jet lighter for this. A triple jet re-heat after cooldown click is about 3 seconds, so a mid-cycle re-heat theoretically is about 1.5 seconds. The margin is way too small and alas, even while being careful, albeit after half a bowl, I combusted. Fortunately, since I was trying to be in-tune with flavor, smoke didn't get very far :) A single jet re-heat after cooldown is about 7~10 seconds anyway, so a 1~2 second boost is perfect. I'll also admit that this method is a bit confusing, and can be a bit of work. It works better with an omni or pre-set uni, since I rotate between boosts. I'm usually patient enough and have enough time to respect the clicks though I was just experimenting and find this method very useful if you only have a minute or two. I'll keep working on it for myself, though respecting the click will definitely be my default method for a laid-back cap.

Man those fines tho.. Now that its more about money than paperwork they will bother us more.

@Chose Israel :) Born in South Africa, though I've proudly been living here for the past 25 years.

@Kasish In public it may be a bit more trouble than now. However, on a private residence they won't have the same justification to to search your house due to supposedly smelling something. It will be MUCH harder to get a search warrant just cause they feel like it. Also, I believe the judicial system has already basically decriminalized personal use, and I'd much prefer to pay a fine if I'm caught smoking in public than pay a lawyer and go to hearings just to get my case thrown out. I'll still try not get caught, so nothing changes there. We've already even seen an un-spoken leniency towards personal-use growers, and I believe this will solidify that leniency. Now that I won't be considered a criminal, I'd at least like to not have to give my money to criminals. I am fine with a little more enforcement in public as long as they let us harm nobody in peace in our own homes. I believe it's a step forward, even if a very small one, and that's better than a step backwards.

@rz to be honest im more tired of drug dealers than bothered by the police...
This move motivates the dealers more than getting me closer to buying weed at a coffee shop.

Edit explanation : now that catching us smoking makes them richer instead of poorer (court time etc..) it might take more time for real legalization.

@VapCap, these videos are a great thing as this thread tend to grown and attract more frequently asked questions, this cap one will be as welcomed as the heating one!

And as a math lover too, I'm sure you gonna love this if you hadn't thought about it before: the fibonacci cap!

Maybe I will add one it to my current order later who knows ah ah!

But I just came here to say that the best thing about the vapcap is how much it can attract creativity and ingeniosity in a such wonderful cerebral melting pot.
It bring together the old pipe spirit and modern techniques to create something that we can all modify, customize, love and share like never before.

For people like me, you had successfully gave a Heart to the Tin vape world. ;)

Yes! definitely agree on the gallery.

The current pics are just not enough. A gallery of "totem" Vapcap porn pictures submitted to them of regular pieces and DIY pieces. And add a caption of what they are and perhaps a Twitter or Instagram link to em.

Pretty sure there's some convection going on as well? :)

for sure. today is day1 of my "dab break" and I'm still nicely toasted using mostly the new-to-me vapcap.

to "upgrade" mine, is all i need new screens? or do i need a new condenser as well? i should probably just shoot them an email but just curious. it works great as is but figure if it's only a few bucks I don't mind upgrading

Lookatmeglow

I seem to have a bad case of VAS
Got about three bowls in last night and I am still working on my technique. Definitely getting good vapor quality in my opinion and it's got some convection heating, but still tastes like it is mainly conduction.

Its a very efficient lititle piece. George has done a fantastic job getting this unit to where it is and I can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeves. I will definitely be ordering some more later, an omnivap for sure!

On a side note, I feel like I will be doing a peace (triihouse unit) and vapcap comparison sometime in the future. Two wood/glass/metal (just the vapcap) units that are pocketable and conduction heating. I already know I love the peace, I'm sure the vapcap will get the same love very soon.

Let the honeymoon never end!

the OG Vapcap has a one piece body/tip. The tip end of it has a ground finish. Cleaning is simple, remove the cap (it doesn't need to be cleaned) and the soft mp. Swab or soak the glass condenser and the one piece body/tip, rinse, dry and you're done. Easy peasy.

Replacing the ceramic screens for the titanium CCD screens is a good move. It's great to have extra screen on hand for when/if the ceramic screen breaks.

What model do you have now? You mentioned in another post that you don't have a wood mp. Is it a Ti Woody? Maybe an OG Vapcap?

The Ti Tipped Vapcaps are fully modular. In a nutshell, you can switch out the stems for bodies and mps or switch out the regular condensers for the XL condenser so you can add a mp to your stem.

It depends what you want to "upgrade" to. We'll walk you through if you give us a clue.

Well look what @phattpiggie made me, i only mentioned the idea of reusing my old pipe, have always liked the heavy feel of the stainless Budbomb (Agent Blue copy), and here it is, my non adjustable Omni :)
I've forgot the name of the tiny piece of wood used, i have had to vigorously test it, and i can report it works, would like to say it's cooler, but sadly only in looks, not vapour.
It's nice to go and chill in his workshop, chat shit and see his latest creations, the stem i saw today was stunning, and his attention to detail makes the recipient both a very lucky person, and to be commended in their choice of supporting the crafts people and smaller businesses.
Thanks again to @phattpiggie for his generosity and hospitality

I've just posted this in the @phattpiggie woodshed page, thought it was also relevant here obvs :)

The Vapcap has so many desirable features. The super bud conserving efficiency. The delightful modular build and the stunning array of choices from Georges beautiful stock options to custom creations and @phattpiggie s fine artwork to the limits of your own imagination. And of course, the genius engineering. But probably one of the top Vapcap attractions is it tiny diminutive size.

I just love how you can hide in your closed fist. How delicate and fine they look. How no Vapcap demands its own table.

I remember when I got my BudBomb and thought, "what a wonderful tiny device". Hahaha! Looking at that pic, the Vapcap has to be easily half the size.

In Vapor Land, bigger is definitely not better. :myday:

So, I figured I have a single crown Cocobolo Ti Woody.

Wonderfully enough, I thought this vape would be idiot proof but my "friend" managed to prove me wrong of course.

However this gives me a good chance to pick up new things, since I can still taste the combustion a bit and don't really want to use it anymore tonight. I think if I just get the condenser+wood MP kit and some new screens I should be good, correct?

Will need to look at how to replace screens etc, but sure it's a breeze. This thing really is an engineering marvel. Anyone who enjoys manual-nature vapes owes it to themselves to get one of these. It's also silly fun to use.

Yes, if you want add a mp to your Ti Woody you can buy an XL condenser with mouthpiece. Swap this out for the regular condenser in your Ti Woody. This will result in a slightly longer Vapcap, 4.25 inches long vs the 3.5 inch Ti Woody. Doing this will give you a Ti Woody XLS.

Will need to look at how to replace screens etc
You can pop out your ceramic screen buy placing the ti tip chamber side down on a hard surface and pushing the condenser down into the tip.

So glad I ordered multiple replacement CCDs, as I've lost one already....

Are vong bodies notorious for tight fits? I can't put any part of my Omni into either end of the 14mm ebony body I got - I end up applying enough pressure to frighten myself...if there's a trick to it, I haven't caught on.

...just occurred to me: I'm gonna have to read this whole thing again, aren't I?

Ought to say, it works better than any vaporizer I've ever used...
(I have been notoriously unimpressed w/ dry-herb vapes since forever)

In addition to the Ti body & vong body, they sent me a GLASS body - hoping it would attract other loose pieces, I guess...this thing really is a fiddler's delight, innit?

@Squiby - currently enjoying a frat-house version of your elegant hemp filter in the middle position - thanks!
