Got the evolve plus a few days ago and switched the battery for my iStick tc60w and it works awesome. Sweet spot for me is 10w-12w so far for awesome flavor. Cant wait to try the ceramic donut .

It's just like the Nyx in that you use it on a box mod or similar battery at 15 - 25w. It does work on the Evolve battery.

I've just started using it so I'm not going to 'review' it yet.

This SHATTER (RESIN) works well and the FLAVOR is MARY POPPIN'S!

After a few days of using the ceramic donut for the plus, I must say, it is an awesome addition. The vapor doesn't get that burnt taste after multiple draws. Also, I like how it vaporizes everything unlike the dual coil. Definitely will be using these full time.
I have been trying the Yocan Evolve Plus and am finding a new QDC with quality Rosin and less than a second press of the button is tasting like burnt smoke to me.

I can see a little carbon on the wires, is this badly burnt?

Or did you also find the QDC coils simply taste burnt?

I also have a dabstorm and use the ceramic doughnut atomiser and it tastes wonderful.

Should I simply get the doughnut atmomisers for the Yocan Evolve?

Really, that's a huge waste of rosin isn't it? How do you clean them anyway?

It's only been used the once, it's a brand new coil :(

Perhaps these coils aren't for me, I've ordered a pack of 5 doughnuts to try, maybe they will be better?

That atty looks fine to me. I found the best way for is to pulse the button for 2 or 3 seconds on then off for a few seconds as I'm drawing. I repeat that a few times during one long draw.

@1DMF just toss the atty in iso should clean most of it. qtip the rest and let air dry for like a day at least. Maybe less if you have a fan blowing on it

I did that to my first atty...but I took a few hits and left it in iso overnight. It was totally caked, it came out pretty clean with just a few spots of reclaim on the bottom corners...but the coils looked so grimy even after the iso...I let it dry overnight and dry fired it till no smoke came off.

I heard that dryfiring changes the properties of the coils and has a bad reaction and makes it worse for you health wise

Also, heating up the ISO by submerging a bag containing the ISO and coil into almost boiling water will get rid of most of the gunk. Got that tip from the guys at W9 and it really gets these coils almost brand new.

Sometimes, a toothpick is required to remove stubborn gunk.

Edit: to evaporate the ISO I usually leave them out for a day either outside or inside near a window and/or fan. Then I also dry fire them, but not long enough to see the coils glow. Just enough to burn off any remaining ISO.

It might give it a more burned taste...when I got it new I did a dry burn to get rid of any left over factory residue...and it did smoke up a bit

I tend to agree, that the chemical composition of the metals can change if dry fired... and it weakens the coils structural integrity.
Just enough to burn off any remaining ISO.
A touch to dry the Iso is fine... just as done with the MFLB trench...

keep it from glowing during the dry fire and you will be in better shape as far as the life of the coils.

The attys that came with my regular evovle pen are great. Went too hard on them and really got it caked up. Let them soak in ISO, wooden skewers for a few seconds, q-tips. dry run and no vapor, completely cleaned! Tastes as it should!!!

After using the dual quartz coils for awhile now I decided to pick up some ceramic to try in my Evolve Plus , I have to say so far I like the quartz better. Taste wise the ceramic has the edge but they are inconsistent at producing vapor clouds, I get very wispy hits using them and they require a few more seconds of heat up/button push that will def help drain the battery quicker. The quartz gives me a huge cloud with 3 seconds on the button while the ceramic takes double that.

I find the same thing. I also find that it performs way better at 15W (don't go over that, you'll ruin your coil) on a box mod with an ego -> 510 adapter. There are also 15W vv/vw mods out there that are ego threaded, so no need for an adapter. That'd solve your battery problem.

I have plenty of box mods , I only used it on the evolve plus battery so far. I'll have to give them a try on 1 of my mods. I have run the dual quartz coil on my mod at above 15w's , do the ceramic coils need to be run at a lower wattage or this is just your experience with them ? I don't need any adaptors , they fit my mods without any. I just wish the ceramics put out better hits , I feel they eat my wax quicker than the quartz and provide a much smaller hit.

Yeah, I don't have any experience with the ceramic donut actually, only the dual quartz. My LHS doesn't stock the ceramic ones. I just remember reading on a number of websites that these coils aren't designed to be ran over 15W, but that was specifically for the dual quartz, I've no clue on the ceramic. Maybe, but you probably still risk snapping one of the leads, which worst comes to worse you can replace the coil. Isn't going to vent or anything from a short on a regulated box.

The quartz coils are the same as the yocan Nyx that uses your own box mod. I happen to own both. You can run them anywhere from 15w-25w max and be safe . So 15w is the minimum. I have run mine several times on my mod at 25w safely. Here is a link if you'd like to read up on it - http://www.yocantech.com/NYX/index.html

Oooh, this is good to know. I just know I saw the warning in the features section of a few websites selling it. I'll definitely have to try running it at a higher wattage.

yeah man I have run mine many times at a higher wattage with no ill effects , just step up in small increments and don't hold that button to long. I usually step up to a higher wattage before I clean it also , I turn it upside down , pulse the button and anything left in there will drip out , than I do a iso soak on them bc they gunk up quickly. I got a few ceramics so in the name of science I don't mind burning 1 out , i'll give them a try at a higher wattage.
