@Stoney Baloney The FF2 has become my favorite 'dry herb vaporizer' for concentrates. Previously the Haze was my favorite unit to use with concentrates but the Firefly 2 is better in my opinion for dry herbs and concentrates.

I have found that most dry herb vapes do work with concentrates, but they really take a long time and a lot of draws to finish even a small dab. The Firefly2 with the high temps actually finishes small dabs in a reasonably fast amount of time, and with AMAZING flavor. Normally I could load a small dab into a pen and finish it in under a minute, but it would take 5-10 minutes to finish it with the Haze and most portables, with the Firefly2 its more like 1-3 minutes. You get less draws with the same size dab in the Firefly2, but they are tastier, larger, and more enjoyable in my opinion.

That's good to hear, the versatility of the FF2 was the major selling point for me.

Out of curiosity how much residual concentrate is left on the pad if any after you've finished vaping it? I'm a bit curious about cleaning the pads too, I would think that a soak in ISO would make them pretty much brand new again.

@jay87 It is hard to tell, the concentrates sort of go into the inside of the pad, and it will look clean even when you can still get vapor so there is clearly some left on the inside. I generally just rip it until no more vapor comes out. I have been cleaning them with ISO, but they are pretty dense, so I think I will be treating them like my Vapexhale ELB's where I clean them a handful of times, but they slowly degrade even with cleaning so they will eventually need replaced.

after hours of reading/researching I have come to this conclusion: FedEx GROUND has no customs clearance included, FedEx Express DOES but in the end costs the same, all information pulled directly from FedEx's website, fully updated

Cost on thefirefly.com is 329.95 USD

After currency conversion FF2 costs 455.47 CAD (.72 rate)

so total cost via FedEx Express is 455.47 x 1.13 HST +45 shipping +10 ROD fee = 569.68

Total cost via FedEx Ground is 455.47 x 1.13 HST + free shipping + 45.35 clearance fee + $10 Disbursement fee = 570.03

Buying from 3rd party within canada = $520 (no official word on when it's available)

TL;DR no matter which way you slice it, the FireFly 2 WILL cost you over $500 to get in Canada

I also fully expect the FedEx driver to say "ok so you owe us 114.56, credit card?"

I'm happier now knowing the exact amount they will nail me with at the door. Thoughts?

I'm not very familiar with import policies but I did buy parts for one of my mountain bikes from ChainReactionCycles (UK based) a couple years ago. I don't remember paying anything but taxes on what was a couple hundred dollars worth (shipping was free as I was spending above a certain amount...)

Never ordered anything as valuable from the US so can't comment on that but did buy Jyarz from the States and didn't get charged anything besides 15$ shipping and then they just showed up in the mail...

(All items were shipped to Québec)

@Maple Beaver The main thing is that CBSA will see that no tax was paid and they will levee the taxes, FedEx will pay the taxes for us, and recover the tax plus a fee for paying our tax, Express fee is $10, ground fee is based off value. Everyone who says "I had stuff from the US and didn't pay anything" most of them paid the tax upon checkout, so there were no red flags at the border thereby allowing FedEx to simply move the freight without brokering taxes on our behalf. (afterthought: I'm not fear-mongering, I just want to draw attention to the reality of Taxes and fees, I would rather people be aware than shocked causing them to lash out at CBSA/FedEx/FireFly, it's not their faults.)

I keep all FedEx receipts and just went through 4 years of invoices, I order a lot of shoes and t-shirts and 99% of the packages that came with no added charges were because I paid tax at checkout.

This last iteration from Firefly seems to be a very good vape, I know lot of peoples got a smartphone but not me.I'm feeling a bit old and obsolete but I don't want to carry a so large and expensive phone since I work outside everydays.

Is it possible to connect it to a PC (I think I remenber somebody told us it was not possible)?

If I still want it it's a crazy buy for a vape: 369€(FF2)+xxx€= +500€

Definitly a vape I want to test but I will definitly not able to afford (except if another version will come...)

I dont know about PC but I read somewhere that you could connect it to an Ipad (which probably means other tablets and maybe Ipods as well). Good luck!
P.S. Dont feel too old for not having a smartphone, my dad still uses a flip phone and he is the coolest cat I know!

It seems like right now it will only work for Android or iOS(ipad,iphone,itouch) devices, I would assume that it may also work on Apple TV's or iWatches as well.

I don't think it would be possible to program the app to use a PC or a website unless the Firefly 2 is wifi capable which I highly doubt. I'm also assuming that the Firefly 2 uses bluetooth to connect to the app currently, and to my knowledge it isn't yet possible to emulate bluetooth for Android or iOS on a PC. The only other way that I can think of to accomplish this is to use a PC's own bluetooth capability or a bluetooth adapter and programming that to interact the the Firefly 2.

Most of that is speculation but having the app work on a PC is the kind of thing that needs to be planned for before the device is released, so unfortunately I doubt that the Firefly 2 will be controllable from PC or else they would've made that known already.

It may be possible to make it happen in the future so I hope i'm proven wrong but right now it's not very probable.

Ok so do you need to hold the activation buttons while vaping or is it rather push buttons to turn it on then no touching after? I know generally with Pax and Prima its turn on then hands off while using device then push buttons when done. But they don't have three second heating up times!

@Morimoto Thanks for the info I figured I was gonna pay taxes but even then I'm still saving 20$ over ordering from VapeWorld so I've got some wiggle room. I won't have the satisfaction of encouraging a "local" but I'm sure I'll forget all about that after a few hits of this delicious Strawberry Cough thru the FF2

Thanks for reminding me that any Android tablet should work just fine with the app. That'd be a lot more useful than a phone for sure.

Specifically for a Fire tablet tho you'd need a little extra work because it's a custom version of Android that restricts you to the Amazon app store by default, but I found an article that should allow you to get the google play store on your fire tablet, and then from there you should be able to use the Firefly 2 app(as well as any other android app) just fine as well.

You need to press and hold your finger(s) against one or both buttons, depending on how you have it configured, to keep the heat activated.

Wow I'm surprised it requires 5.0, I was hoping for at least 4.3+ that kinda stinks for a lot of older android phones and tablets.

Haven't been following this thread ....but was curious to see if more user reports had been posted with the recent release and saw your question.

It might be possible to run from a PC with Bluetooth by running an Android Emulator

I had run Genymotion on my PC as a virtual machine before and since it is a developer's kit I am thinking that it should work if your PC is bluetooth equipped. It is also free software for personal non-commercial use.

There's a little bit of a weird taste when I draw without the pipe loaded... anyone else get that? I took a test draw, got it... cleaned everything, put it up to high for a bit, then loaded it for the first time, and there's still some of it there.

So after much waiting and anticipation I finally received my FF2 in the mail yesterday! I'm one of those nerds that likes to understand all the bells and whistles right from the get go so I quickly unpacked everything and got to it. First think I did was plug the docking station in to make sure the unit had a full charge before I got to testing out the unit. Placed the FF2 on the docking station aaaaaaaand? Nothing I reached out to customer service and they told me to send it back so they can determine what's wrong with the unit or the charger. So close yet so far. This is definitely making me question the quality of this product right from the get go.

You are the second one to report that. Unfortunately the first member used his device shortly after and the plant smell masked the new device smell.

I've had various amounts of new device smells with nearly all my vapes coming from China, ranging from faint to nausea inducing and a couple times to completely unusable (ex: first FM8 pre-prod version, Elo pre-prod version, but those were test units so I expected the worst)

There's always an explanation but in the FF2 case we haven't figured so far where it might come from, as all materials in the vapor path are supposedly safe. Might be a remnant from manufacturing processes, or some glue inside still curing? Did you clean your device with ISO thoroughly before use?

Oops, I should have kept reading. The idea had no doubt already been posited.

Perhap you could pick up a used Android smartphone on EBay. They're a dime a dozen these days. It needn't be hooked up to cellular service. They just need to be Bluetooth equipped.

Did you send it in yet? If not try re-seating it a few times, and make absolutely sure the contacts on the back are touching the contacts on the cradle. I have found the cradles to be a little temperamental. Also try another USB charging block.

Also (duh!) make sure there's a battery in the unit. Try both batteries too...one could be faulty.
