you dudes are dense. I haven't smoked a joint in 30 years, I mention joint to illustrate that .2 or .3 is not a lot of weed to vape. you dudes who want to vape .01 are just too funny.
And my point is that 1.0 or 0.5 is not the same thing in a joint as in a vaporizer. I don't actually want to vape .01 (but 0.03-0.05 can go a surprisingly long way).

What does 0.03 look like? I haven't got any scales so I can't imagine the amount.

To not go too far OT, the Plenty is totally not the vape for that- I think you need a full bowl to get the most out of it and that's a shitload of weed, the equivalent over a very big fat joint. I was not a big fan of the liquid pad. And to really get the best from it you have to do it in one go. Good efforts on this thread to make it more efficient though.

But the thing that really killed the Plenty for me was the timer. This had to be one of the most annoying things ever. It would be a 10x better vape if it could just hold the temp like every other vape in the world.

Where it's underrated is the taste. It's really nice! I'd rank it just behind the MiniVap which can't be beat on that front really.

I'd rank it third out of the S&B products, Mighty 1 and Volcano 2. Crafty the worst as it couldn't cope with my huge bowls- constantly cut out and overheated.

Yeah getting into the hundredths is just too small for me. Besides my digital scale can only read tenths 0.1 not hundredths 0.01. The thing is, I almost always am putting in at least a 0.4 in there all the time anyhow. But I would love to do smaller amounts if S&B could give us a different size bowl. I would imagine that a 0.03 would look something like what @ChooChooCharlie has posted before.

Also I use a liquid pad all the time even with close to a gram in there. The only time I didn't use the pad 3 times when I filled it to the rim.. and trust me this holds just over a gram. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 1.2 or so honestly.

That could set me back around 27 dollars where I am! So you can see why I would be interested in this new "solution" whatever it may be.
I dont own any Storz and Bickel products yet, but I'm currently saving my ass off and trying to choose which model I get first. I know I will certainly buy a Volcano (probably Classic) as I am now converted fully to vaping and have warmed to the idea of spending that kind of money on the hobby!

But I'm really excited to read about this "solving of the problem"!! that some users were having with the Plenty, I was very close to buying the Plenty and didn't know it was heavy on herb.
I also hope that they can, as others have wished, apply this across their range to have the Volcano included in this new efficient system of theirs!

Or,,,,,,,,,
Could it be that the "solution" is actually a new vape?

Honestly, I don't have a scale either. I'm kind of estimating based on what a gram looks like (and by extension then, what a tenth of that looks like, and what fractions of that would look like). It would be nice if there were pictures of what several amounts of very finely-ground NBV herb (is that an acceptable initialism?) looks like. It would have to be ground very finely and laid out thin next to something of well-known size (coin or Bic lighter) to get a good idea...

Edit: Actually, if you look at ChooChooCharlie's post, you can see his little basket with ABV from 0.09 in it. That's actually a pretty good amount for me (I have the same screen, and it's deeper than you might think), so yeah, maybe .07 to .09 is closer to what I like to pack.

Edit #2: Ah crap, he actually had another set of pics with .01 and .04 in the Plenty. I'm so confused anymore! Looking at this, I could swear I put something between .01 and .04 in the nano. :p Okay, maybe I will get a scale...

Can't argue with you on that one. Mine has gotten a little funky, but chalk that up to laziness on my part.

I have never used a Volcano, but my understanding is that the Volcano already works much better with smaller amounts than the Plenty does (I know its chamber has a smaller diameter, for one thing), and bag systems are more forgiving when it comes to slower sessions than whip vapes. And the Crafty/Mighty is GREAT for small amounts of herb (though not quite in E-nano territory).

Thanks, I did not know the Volcano chamber was smaller than the Plenty, that's good to know too. But I had heard that it works good with small-ish amounts, and that a fuller bowl just means you'll fill more bags with it.
And hey, even us "efficient" guys can splash out at the weekends and fill up the Volcano a bit more?!

I'm afraid of the Crafty that I'd regret buying it if battery life or faulty returns became an issue for me.
And another thing, and one that also looks to affect the Mighty, is that if you didn't perform (the already difficult looking) cleaning religiously, they might get quite smelly?
This and the Mighty's size and cumbersome nature, just make it seem a little bit overpriced for a portable for me, now, although I'm sure I could easily be proved wrong very quickly!

That's why I was leaning towards the Plenty and Volcano, nearly half sick of all this charging antics too!

I really am excited to see what comes out of this 2016 efficient bowl release, and it will surely influence my future purchases.
So just need to decide should I go buy a Volcano or a Mighty right now, and I can buy my Plenty in early-mid 2016 with the new mod!
Win win I'd say?! :)

To be fair, I was the one who brought this to people's attention, and I wouldn't say we know it's an efficient bowl. That's what I hope it is (and ideally the same size as the Mighty/Crafty bowl for some cross-compatibility), but they only said they would have something to address the issue of the Plenty's hungriness. For all I know, they could be coming out with a Plenty Junior or something. (Not a bad idea either though. :p )

I hear you man! You aren't the only one waiting and hoping for a smaller bowl! Just remember that people here have claimed to have gotten by with very small amounts despite the fact that the manufacturers say to fully cover the screen. Personally, I haven't tried it yet but the technique is to keep the unit vertical (hopefully on a stationary table without moving it at all) and to sprinkle a spec into the bowl with no liquid pad and go to work. Just be sure you inhale very slowly. I haven't tried it but others who just posted recently have.

I'm a bit of a S&B fanboy after this vape myself and I still may consider the Volcano and Mighty down the line. If it was me however I would skip the Crafty and Volcano Classic entirely and go right for the Mighty and the Volcano Digit! Also if efficiency is as important to you as it is to me, I have to say that the Mighty has a much smaller herb chamber and the Plenty might not be the right vape for you. Then again, You might just fall in love with how tore up this thing gets you man!

I think THE THRIFTY would be perfect name for a new vape! Maybe it would be something like an E Nano bowl size eh? But without the stirring and constantly reloading! Those are two things I absolutely love about the Plenty that I don't have to deal with.. not to mention not ever having to worry about combustion unlike my last two vapes.

I agree about The Thrifty being a good name, but honestly, I think the Crafty is thrifty enough. I think you would want to take advantage of the Plenty's excellent airflow, and the nano stem is a bit on the narrow side. I feel like if you want that experience, an actual log vape is a better way to get it than a S&B product is.

Personally speaking, when it comes to stirring and repacking, I'm fortunate enough to not need so much that I'm constantly repacking. I just take a hit now and then off of a packed stem. Three reloads in an evening is typical for me. And I like the stirring, or rather I like how much you can get off of a seemingly spent stem with a good stir. I do dislike the green herb around the edges (you can never seem to vape all of it!), but I let that slide because I can't argue with the nano's performance.

I don't care for log vapes at all honestly. After my experience with the Nano, I won't go near them again. If you asked me, I should have went straight for the Solo instead but I was swayed by public opinion here on FC. I still don't know what it was but that Nano burned my herb 30 to 40% of the time, got way too hot imo for 6.5 on the dial and after 3 days with it and trying to come up with every temperature, bowl depth, and grind combination there is.. I just gave up with it. Too much of a learning curve for me If I can't figure it out in a matter of hours then it's too much headache for me to be dealing with in the first place.

Also it wasn't a deal breaker or anything to have to reload and stir all the time if I could have just got it to work consistently. Remember my Nano wasn't even vaping correctly.. light brown ABV that I was only able to put in my Plenty for further extraction. My E nano just wouldn't produce any more vapor from it so the entire experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, I didn't even want to reply to the Nano thread again. Anyhow I just prefer vapes that are less fickle than the Nano was to me but to each their own and I'm glad yours works on a consistent basis at least! :D

Yeah I hear you on the Crafty's small bowl size and efficiency! Deep down I kinda wish I would have got the Mighty instead for the sake of saving herb but since I've been using the Plenty the way you described, it's actually growing on me more now!

Also you could very well be right about S&B coming out with a new vape instead of a mod. Maybe a new version of the Plenty? Honestly I hope it's both! Here's a 0.2 ready to go.. before and after!!!

I hope it's both too, a new Plenty/mod and a new vape!!
Thanks for those photo's of the Plenty, I'm going to do a little experiment here in a minute based on those!

Judging by the size of the Plenty chamber, that 0.2 nug is about 3-4 times what I would normally combust in a pipe for a solo session. :p
I'm about to do a bit of experimenting here myself! It's a good way to get an idea alright, every thread should have photos like those!

Yeah, I think for me it's just about the same I would use to combust in one session! Ok.. maybe double.. it depends on my mood! Having a high tolerance has it's downsides! Haha!

Looks the same to me as far as chamber size. S&B's faq page is a little messed up at the moment but if you can make it out, it says 0.09 Cubic Inches for both. Man I still want a mighty even in addition to my Plenty and Evo!

http://www.storz-bickel.com/shop_us/en/faq/
Yep. You can swap cooling units between the two of them (or at least you can use the Mighty's on the Crafty) and they take the same concentrate pads, screens, and o-rings. One thing I thought could be a problem with using Crafty/Mighty accessories on the Plenty (with the metal chamber idea I mentioned to S&B and earlier in this thread) is that the Crafty/Mighty appear to have a deeper chamber than the Plenty. But nope, it's about the same depth as the Plenty's beastly bowl! (The silicone above the Mightcrafty's bowl creates the illusion of more depth, while the wide bowl of the Plenty and its gently tapered edges create the illusion of less.)

Thanks for this photo and the link!
It really does seem that if I were to buy one for me now, it will either be the Mighty or the Volcano, until this new change with the Plenty comes about.
The bowl sizes given there for the volcanos are quite off putting!, but we've already discussed that and I'll need to ask further questions in the relevant threads.

I did my testing just to compare my current (solo) setup to your use of the Plenty with 0.2, and I managed to fill my current bowl 3 times, it took about 40 minutes to get through them all and take photos, and I'm so medicated now I can hardly type and keeping looking at the screen etc!!
I may upload the pics to the relevant thread and give you the link for a look!

EDIT- I think that would be fair enough for an occasion to use 3 of my current bowls in one session in a Plenty, but for regular use it might need to be less, for me.

The smaller diameter makes them look deeper so.
And this method that you describe for using the Plenty, the one where you inhale extremely slowly/hold upright to avoid using a pad?
Although it doesn't sound like something I'd really enjoy, if I get a Mighty and the pads don't work out, do you think I could use this slow method on the Mighty like you use on the Plenty?

That's ChooChooCharlie's method, not mine.

I can't see why you couldn't use that method. Also note that the draw on the Crafty is more restricted than on the Plenty. It's still very free-flowing, but not as free-flowing as the Plenty. But in my experience the pad works fine in the Crafty, and much better than in the Plenty. It is a bit tricky to remove though, at least compared to the Plenty, where the opposite situation happens, and the pad sticks to the top piece of the chamber assembly because there's nothing really holding it in.

Ah choochoocharlie, right.
And yeah I was thinking as I typed, so the pads don't work too good in the Plenty,
They work ok in the volcano, but you don't even really need them,
and they work great in the two portables, ok, got it!:)

Hi @blackstone , the liquid pad is simply a stabilizer for your herb. Prevents herb layer from shifting to one side of the chamber when you lift and hold the Plenty in different positions while drawing.

I like draw and results better without the pad and holding Plenty vertical.

Curiosity drove my experimentation with tiny loads.
After several failed attempts to mod the Plenty, stumbled on "slow draw 7 up"

Yes, you may not like drawing slowly. Didn't think I would either, but I now like the lung filling feeling of the unrestricted and cool slow draw. Crafty doesn't get much use now -- feel like I'm splurging when I fill a Crafty bowl. And draw is so much more restrictive and warmer than Plenty.

One thing I didn't like was the ergonomics of keeping the herb layer level:
Bending over it like a '70s bong, eyes down, neck bent, and that damn drooling saliva!

So, tubing to the rescue. Mary Jane likes it too.
