I would be there to sign for it!

Hope you enjoy it man! Mine should be arriving tomorrow assuming the Fed Ex tracking page is correct! It just updated an hour ago and it looks like it's now in California. Estimated delivery date is tomorrow and I forgot to pick up some distilled water and concentrates for the nail!:bang:

BTW, Could anyone suggest a concentrate that works best with this xnail? I'd really like to avoid the gooey shit and go for some hard shatter or budder? Anything stand out that performs better or are they all pretty much the same? Also should I expect to waste a lot of it while learning the proper technique and temp? Thanks!

Ha yeah with work that's not really an option, no way to know when it will arrive. If its around 4 then someone else may be home at least... We'll see tracking later today

I'll try leaving a note like I do for DHL, we'll see how FedEx feels about that, otherwise there is a location right by me, walking distance, so if they drop it there I can pick it up after work hopefully if they're still open.

Haha thanks @stickstones, even better!
And thanks @Roth for the tips!

So the temp dial is like LSV and Zion, or is there a corresponding temperature chart somewhere (like in the manual)?

Also curious about concetrates, no idea what I can find here, some make and sell wax, but who knows anything about it... I do have a bit of free banana kush bubble hash from a CO dispensary last year, haven't really used it in the best way yet I think, or its also just not great stuff... I thought I heard her say full melt (but that mightve only been the name of the candy bars...) but it seems tough to really finish it. Guess that is typical of bubble hash then? So I don't wanna put that in the quartz nail coming with my kit? What about reclaim dabs? Another waste? Should I wait til I can get some actual mystery wax or shatter somewhere?

So why is the main unit called bamboo?
I was gonna call it the monolith lol

Because air is compressible, you can get few bubbles through even if the bamboo is air-tight. But that should only be like 3 bubbles max. And then no more and the built underpressure would force some water back when you stop. If you can get bubbles slowly going and don't feel any air leaking around your finger, then it's bad news :(. The GonG joint should be always air-tight - even when lifted slightly. That angle on it is very steep.

There is no corresponding temperature chart for the dial. I was initially kind of disappointed with that, but I quickly learned it's not needed. Plus, factor in that some EVO's might run a little warmer or cooler than others based on firmware/bamboo version/etc and it just doesn't make practical sense. But don't worry, you'll soon have a feel for your EVO and know its in's and out's.

General rule of thumb, start at noon and then experiment up and down to see what's best for you.

The term "bamboo" refers strictly to the inner glass core that the air travels through. When you get it and look down, you'll understand why it's referred to as the "bamboo". There are little segments in the glass that resemble the inner structure of actual bamboo. Those restrictions cause some of the air turbulence that makes the EVO so magical. How is way above my pay grade, but just know it works!

I haven't had any bubble hash for a long time, but I believe the best practice for it would be to put it in your ELB's. It'd probably add a little bit of herb as well, just so absorb anything that wants to melt away too fast.

You could definitely do reclaim dabs in the VXNails, but they just won't taste that great since they're reclaim.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that sounds bad. If you have a good seal on the bottom, there should be ZERO air getting through.

If you try without the HT, I'd suggest blowing rather than sucking. Just in case there are some little glass shards you can't see, wouldn't want to suck those into my mouth.

The real test will be trying to hit it with some herb in there. When my bamboo was cracked, I had combustion very quickly. You'll know right away if something is wrong.

Good luck, hope it was just a bad seal between the HT and top of the EVO.
FUCK. I guess I'll really dig into the thing tonight and see if I cant do a better job assessing any possible damage.

How much is the replacement again? I cant find the price list online but i thought i remember it costing around $125.

Well I broke down and purchased the Hydrabomb from VN. Too good of a deal to pass up. Especially on something that is never in stock on VXL. It was between that and the Evolver but I already have a Honeycomb for max diffusion sessions. I wanted the Bomb for max taste/diffusion! GAS struck again!

I when I knocked my EVO off the table 18 months ago, it was around $90. Looking at their site now, it says to replace the bamboo is $100 and it mentions there's a $20 administrative fee for services performed. So I'd say it's going to cost $120 to get it repaired.

Unless you happened to purchase the Platinum Warranty they offer. I read its details yesterday and it entitles you to one free repair of the glass bamboo, and one repair of a hydratube, even if it was a user induced fault.

Hope everything's alright, but if not, VXL will get you up and running again. It was a quick turnaround when I had my bamboo replaced.

Ah yeah, precise temp control definitely isn't necessary, getting to know the Zion's dial was a fun exercise, and I expect it will be with the Evo as well!

Yeah I've never had a dab that tasted good (I mean I've only had one ceramic nail dab, and some dab pen hits so very limited experience) so I probably should just wait til I find real stuff. Reclaim is better to cook with for that reason I guess.

Neat about the bamboo, I should probably read the warranty to see what kind of coverage I have with the standard...

Thanks again Roth!

@Shit Snacks Roth got it right but I have to add one thing. You can find a hint on the temperature in the Evo FAQ :

The EVO has a usable range of approximately 200-500 degrees Fahrenheit. The noon (middle) position is approximately 350 degrees and that is the suggest temperature to start with.

for me it look's like it is pretty much on point.

Glad you took the plunge @Shit Snacks and you're right about directly inhaling (at least for me) , I really have to focus on using it as a third lung if that makes sense, though I can do it! I prefer a higher heat and just ripping it :)

I know it's been addressed but @New_buddy I just tried that, and no bubbles, completely airtight for me :( doesn't sound great for you

That temp chart seems right on point as well, I prefer temps closer to 400 and I use it around 2-230. Seems about right based on my experience

yes it`s an expensive vape, only thing you could do, would be going with the dry mouthpiece and use existing glass (around 480-500€). For me it was worth it since it got me off combustion and was the only vape that could replace a solid bong hit.

So how long is normal for them to process the order? I mean it was late of course when I did it, but figured I'd have been charged at least by now, if not shipped out...

I'm sure it's fine

I'm really tempted by this sale!! Freaking VAS!!!:bang::bang:
I know I shouldn't buy it yet I want it bad! I have enough vapes and don't need this one but it just seems so bad ass! It'll vape herb and concentrates and comes with a hydra tube!!!! I'm interested in the evolver starter kit or the side circ. I like the side circ cause I can use the standard glass vs Quartz VxNails if I want to. I have it in my basket and everything....

You should check and see if this is true and it may not matter to you even if it is, but I believe those Grav Lab HTs (the small SideTree and SideCirc) have always been available for $150, although not always on the VXH website. I think the Evolver piece is a much bigger steal at that price, is my point, I guess. In any case you'll have fun if you pull the trigger.

Well thanks to you guys i convinced my friend to send his massdrop evo back for a replacement. lets just hope it makes it back before the sale ends.

Glad he's gettingit looked at, something wasn't right with it the way you described it.

However, it won't make it back in time before the sale ends. The sale is only through the end of this month.

Hmmmm, when I plug the end of the bamboo and pull on the bare male there is no airflow at all. I even hear a "pop" when I take my finger off as the air rushes back in.

I wonder how come slow bubbles make it into my HT.
