Meaning holding the unit at an angle which will apply the weight of the unit side loading the glass connection which could lead to cracking the female joint.

I will be positing links here to our web page in order to ensure there is a wiggle point for authorized information. If I post here it gets lost in a see of post. It also eliminates the possibilities of non-RBT staff from giving out incorrect information here. If it's not on our web page, it's not fact.

I will still answer questions here but the answers will be on the www. This along with the FAQ should reduce the amount of redundant ?s and erroneous data here on FC.

Cool thanks for the clarification!!

We will be adding a master power switch as an additional layer of protection. Even with the recessed button there still is a chance of the button being depressed. We will be adding a resettable fuse as an added layer of protection (see 18650 battery thread). These batteries have the potential to be dangerous and we are designing multiple fail safes to protect our customers. By popular demand we will also add an integrated stir stick between the heater and the mouthpiece. Additional steps will be taken in the the manufacturing process to perfect the esthetics of the wood body and improve the purity of the flow path (see Vapor Purity thread) With the Beta10 testing under way we will have more learning which will no doubt lead to more refinement and hopefully not much more material / manufacturing cost as our mission is to stay 20% under the cost of our competition so we will hold the line at $169 and will sacrifice margin if additional cost occur.

Anyone know if this master power switch was ever added to the final production model? Haven't really seen it mentioned since RBT first announced his intention to do so back in June but I may have missed it.

There is no master switch on the first production unit. As far as I know, there will not be one for at least the initial production run.

After much debate it was determined that people are unreliable and switches can fail too, thus the only sure way to eliminate the chance of accidentally powering the heater is to remove one or both batteries. This will be stated in the manual.
Since we designed the batteries to be so easily changed out, this choice makes the most sense from a safety perspective.

Yeah it was decided not to be necessary, since the batteries can be removed (or inserted backwards) to prevent accidental trigger presses, but in testing none of us seemed to have that issue at all anyway if I recall

Thanks Pak! Still think it would be a great safety/convenience feature for those of us who might end up carrying our Zions around without having to go through the extra step of removing the batteries. Seems like it could be a real issue for some as even RBT commented:
"The master power switch is required as a fully charged set of batteries with an accidental button depression could damage the unit and it would get excessively hot. @MrPeanut has experienced accidental button depression while toting his Zion around the farm." I realize that if it's not already a feature that it's likely too late to implement now but perhaps for a future iteration . . . ?

EDIT: OMG you guys are fast!! Never mind this post:ko:
EDIT: Thanks Snacks for the tip to insert the batteries backwards to prevent activation. Was just looking for a way to transport without having to remove the batteries and carry them separately. Not a big deal to me but just pondering while I eagerly await the arrival of my Zion!

Haha yes, yes we are. Also recall that that post was before the trigger became recessed (starting with Kero's Ashton), which also helps render accidental button presses for extended periods even less likely. I had carried Ziggy in my pocket and such with no issues at all

You'll also get a storage case for your cells if I'm correct. It takes less than 10 seconds to remove the cells and put them in the carry box, so unless you are the lazy King, you have no excuse not to do it! :p
Bow to me. I like the upside down idea. Simple and I could use my case for an extra set. :p

I'm really only commenting to get alerts from this thread.
Edit: I just spotted "watch thread", is that what it does?

@ApparentlyStoned you got it.

I know we will have the chance to add batteries and stuff to our order, but I have really been thinking about a second Zion. If we preordered can we add another Zion or do we have to wait for regular production to ramp up for a second?

Hey @WakeAndVape, I don't think so just at the moment as the webstore is offline, but if you really are interested then drop RBT a pm & see what he says.

Have a groovy Sunday y'all.

Nice glass selection there for the Zion although the trumpet isn't that practical for out and about use I bet it's your favourite way to use the Zion overall am I right? Where's the trumpet mouthpiece from @VegNVape if you don't mind me asking, I guess you can get a visual feedback by using it unlike the standard straight glass?

@VegNVape thanks for that pic of the trumpet pointing back over the high portion of the Zion. That really helps with perspective. So, yeah, where did the trumpet come from? It looks like my ufo mouthpiece. Also, that hydrotube isn't 18mm is it???
