The Herbalizer

I turned my Herbie on this morning and noticed a smell coming from it very faintly. I was just at my computer typing a message when I noticed it, so it wasn't like I was prepping the unit, even though it is next to me. I started sniffing it and noticed it was frm the unit. Turned the fan on, turned it up tried to get the smell away and it seemed to have been gone. Closed the unit, turned ti back on and it seemed to still do it. I had a little bit of particles aroundmy heater, so I'm wondering if it's just a few of them making a stinky smell.

It smells like it did when I first got the unit. This happened when I first got it, about a month or so in, and today. So I'm not sure what exactly it is...

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Not sure if this helps, but when I had to sell my Herbie for money reasons, I cleaned it all up and packed it away in my basement. I think a few weeks went by, maybe a month before it sold. Before I shipped it out I wanted to make sure everything was 100% working flawlessly, so I fired it up to see. I definitely noticed the same plastic odour that I had when I first bought it. It didn't last very long once I put the fan on, or perhaps my sense of smell just adapted to it. But it was definitely a plasticky odour, and not material - as the unit was completely spotless at that point.

I read about your experience doing this previously. I had a short 4 day break from all herb so even smaller Herbie hits are quite effective. I will probably pull my Evo out Sunday. I do miss it. Despite how awesome Herbie is I can't pick it up like I can with the EVO. That's the one advantage the EVO really has for me. Whether I use a hydratube with EVO or Herbie the quality of vapor feels the same to me. I can't tell any better difference by having a more pure all glass path. Maybe it is just me though.

I thoroughly enjoy Herbie with a HT! I haven't done it in a while...you know how you go through phases and then come back to them. But I thought the same thing at the time as to the similarity of the hits. You can't have too many Mercedes vapes to use!

I too get a slight smell (warm plastic) when I first turn on my unit but as soon as the first little heater cycle runs, it seems to go away. Odd.

A little piece of tubing will work in a pinch, I believe.

Edit: 18mm or 14mm?

Good first impressions as far as maintaing a precise temp. Heat up is insane fast. I did get the plastic smell until fanned out at a high temp too.

I like it. But i can tell right now despite a great first impression, the Evo will always have its place for its ability to extract fast and extract fully. The Herbie is more of a sipper, by bag or whip when compared to big hit popotential from the vxc. I am thinking the adapter i mentioned before testing might not be needed. But i do love accessories

@Vicki can you detail your experiences with the whip since getting your herbalizer back? Do you find ever that some draws produce little to no vapor while other draws produce much larger clouds at a similar draw strength?

I've been using my Herbie whip with my bubbler all the time. I've also cut the tubing down to about 6 inches in length. I get a pretty consistent pattern of vapor, big clouds at first, then starts to thin out.

Dang it bio. Ill probably get one. Officially off the clock from work and about to bust out the concentrates.

You can also buy some sort of moldable silicone putty, and stick it in the HT and plop it on top. It dries super fast, and I think @lazylathe made one for me that cost about a buck in material. He's the brains, maybe PM him for more info. I used it exclusively with a HT, and it worked perfectly.

I use fun TAC because it is moldable and is reusable. I have a detailed post below with pics.

Originally I thought it was a sipper too (which I hate)

You need need different tubing, with SSV tubing (or something similar with wider diameter) it's a heavy hitter

Also if you fill a large bag (solid valve is the way to go) it extracts fully and faster than anything.

I am on to a higher diameter tubing. Slightly improved but still not the super heavy hit evo capability at the temp im using.

Improved results. Im enjoying 340 as a wake up temp into a 370 or 375 as a standard and higher temps later in the evening Or 400 plus for concentrates and lung busters.

I am seeing lots of chances for aftermarket accessories coming in Expecially at the price of OEM or inhouse bowls and whips. Should come with two bowls and two whip adapters at this price point, even if i needed to provide my own tubing. I feel like stock adapter will need monthly iso soaks as i switch it between whips and such. Anyone soak these yet?

Who is coming out with the best and most affordable bowls and whip alternatives to stock?

I greatly disagree is requires less maintenance than the evo. Bowl requires more to clean, and there is more parts and such. Constantly using the brush to clean off everything and the bowl design isnt nearly as easy to use and maintain. Plus, much hugher chance of product falling down into a hot heater and really causing more issues in the one out of a 100 times the bowl is not properly closed. Hasnt happened yet but with daily and multi daily use probably will.

Also so far disappointed with concentrates although i need more testing. Could easily go with a higher diameter whip to gong 18mm and start trying to heavy rip Via my shelf of glass. Yall use the fan on whip to glass hits? I used to on my Extreme back in the days but wondering if i should risk it here or not. Cheers all.

445 sticks? Hot hot. Ok, i have never breached 420 on flowers, but went up to full power on concentrates. still a little lighter than i like but ill have to try bag and glass vs. Whip only for that so far.

ill give 445 flowers a try later this evening. Got to be awake when the GF gets home on valentines.

Edit. Haha. Just tried free style at 420 mouth up to the vape. Pretty fun for an idiot like me who doesn't mind wasting a half bowl pack.

Doubke edit. Found a perfect all glass 18mm adapter that stands straight up and seems to make a perfect seal with a little pressure

Any suggestions on setting up a way to easily reclaim the oily buildup the Herbie produces? Its been discussed here about using a piece hemp to reclaim it but I don't know exactly what the posters called it to look it up. Would like to have setup that would reclaim the oil so I don't have to scrape the whip and connector.

I would recommend this as a simple and quick fix!

Look at the link I posted just a few posts ago to see how I reclaim with hemp fiber.
