Cheap High Quality Bubbler

I know it amuses some of you but I think this just shows what a slipping hold individualism has on the world.

I mean he tried to take a patent out on these which he is allowed to do. Normally this would mean only he could produce the product or license it out for a number of years. Which is the perk of being the first to come up with an idea/invention/innovation.

And now because the world waits for no man and there are furnaces waiting to make money on a new style that perk gets restricted in the global marketplace of knockoffs.

In my opinion individualism and globalism will come to a head.

Not necessarily a bad thing, although it is very sad.

In the future I expect the patent office to also be the licensing office with the prices set by either the government or the inventor.

That way individual freedoms are still protected and everyone can use the new creation without shortchanging the inventor. It will take some decision making out of it where you could also deny your product to someone, but I think they would rather be paid than not.

Of course there is no reason why things must go that way.

The biggest obstacle, unscrupulous business men, would not be removed, so there would still be knockoffs.

Maybe once all nations respected ip laws it would change but I wonder how that would happen.

If you want to patent something, youre supposed to patent it before you start selling it. Once itss been filed and in the consideration stage (Which can take years), you can label things Patent Pending and you have some protection.

Ive gone through all this before. Its a sucky process and for me it was 20 years ago, Im sure its even worse now. I feel bad for patent lawyers.

I am trying to decide on the double barrel, gb187 or the d020. If anyone has all 3 can you post a pic of them side by side and comment on glass thickness. Thanks.
These aren't my pics, but I did find them here:

Looks like glasspipemaster.com got some new items. I am trying to get water test videos for these two:

Diamond Glass single honeycomb.
18mm female joint.
$89.99

Diamond Glass penetrated upline showerhead (or something like that lol)
14mm female joint
$149.99
I know this is above the $100 limit but @Cannabis Connoisseur and I were talking and we believe it may function similar to the mothership faberge :) all credit goes to him for figuring this out! So if I get a video and it functions like we are expecting it may be well worth the price!

I posted that one June 2nd, the piece came yesterday. So 10 days total. Not bad!

BUT! The piece, unfortunately is bad. The quality is good, but the design is off from the picture.

It doesn't recycle since it's an uphill battle to the funnel. Much more drastic than I anticipated, water really doesn't even get in there.

But the main problem and part of the previous problem is where the water is supposed to re-enter the can - it's too low:

So to even get enough water in there to get the perk to fire, you end up just sucking up water...

Kinda bummed but that's the gamble in this thing...

So overall I don't recommend the piece above.

EDIT: playing with water levels and will check back in...perhaps pilot error?

So far the 2 successful micro 10mm recyclers from kathy are:

and

I have the first one and @jambandphan03 did a nice review of the 2nd one here:

Cheers
I have that second one, it works as it should, just super picky on water level. I found that in mine, at rest the water line is just under the "bulb" where it should vortex at the mouthpiece. Any higher and I get water up the mp stem, any lower and I don't get full recycleing. Also have to go easy on the draw till it's fully firing.

I bet a lot of blowers are.

To think, in this very thread you can name and post a picture of any name-brand piece you could possibly want, and within 2 weeks DHGate will post a clone.

It is pretty phenomenal the way they monitor this community.

Post anything you like, lets see if they can deliver:D

Haven't seen a name brand piece like this - I'm sure they're out there. What I want is: 14mm DI to inline sidecar, like this one, only a little bigger. It's a micro, 4" tall, I'd like 6 - 7"

That's just an ordinary basic recycler, isn't it? What am I missing? Kathy sells a very similar one for US$22, and also somewhat similar ones for $21 and $23 each.

temp2.0x0.jpg
Having seen Kathy's in action at a patients home, I can tell you what you are missing. The Elev8 Glass recycler is designed at an angle where the water recycles... it causes the water to spin vortex fashion as it recycles.
Kathy's unit is surely a better cost:nod:, however try as the owner may, the varied draw approach included, no vortex was able to be created.
(that was the point of my video posted in the elev8 thread.... two draw speeds, two varied actions that I did not find in other recyclers that have been here.)

The angle doesn't make it spin (or "vortex" as we've taken to calling the phenomenon in this thread). The whirlpool chamber could be conical, spherical, cylindrical, etc, as long as it has a centred, restrictive drain and is circular(ish) in profile from above, it'll form a vortex as it drains. The angle and location where the water enters the chamber can help a vortex form in the draining chamber, but as long as the previous conditions are satisfied, it'll still vortex no matter where you dump the water in.

Going on thread reports, most of Kathy's recycler pieces will apparently form at least a weak vortex, at the right speeds, but they all tend to lack the restriction that causes a strong vortex to form. That's because China doesn't seem to really understand recyclers yet, though. The first clone designs of small pieces have only just started appearing; familiarity will bring better function to the pieces, and eventually, further innovation.

Either way, I'm not seeing a "new type of vortex action" in this video. Just the one we're all used to:
In fact, the Elev8 design also lacks a strong restriction, and as a result has a pretty weak vortex, even with the well-placed inlet location helping things. That's why you only get a vortex when you pull quite hard, because the vectored input has little effect at low draw speeds.

i just got my gb-186-1 in.
temp2.0x0.jpg

http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/hot-sell-the-newest-glass-bong-glass-smoking/190640698.html

it was packed very well, all the joints look good, the mouth is offset to the left a little, no tool marks or scratches in the glass i can see.

the only thing i don't like is how it hits
imo it is not smooth or easy to draw, it chugs, and it takes effort to pull air
i tried lots of different water levels nothing helped
it is not fun , sorry i got it, it will sit on my shelf until i give it away

i also got in the double barrel recycler
temp2.0x0.jpg

http://www.dhgate.com/product/1lots...s/189937548.html#myaccount_orderdetail-1-null

now this 1 i like a lot
no cracks ,scratches that i see, joints look good, was packed bombproof, best packing yet
mouthpiece and stem for bowl are not straight, but that's ok
it is fun, it hits easy ,once you get the water level right it
no complaints on this pipe

If you are innovative you can and will share 'your ideas'...and you will come up with something new eventually...al this patent blabla...real artists do not need this kind of bullshit protection. :2c:

I for one can only see benefits to the real artists, who will be recognized by the community, and who might once in a while sell some piece because someone owned a knock off and decided he liked it so much he bought the real deal...that someone might not have known that glassblower before the knockoff got him interested...again just my :2c:
KIND CREATIONS makes really nice pieces.

Right now I love my cheap CHINESE glass pieces until I figure it all out.

I'm still learning!

This second one is pretty sick, super interested to see a water test. By the way I think you meant the MS ball rigs right?

You're right it is more like the ball rig. @Cannabis Connoisseur ordered one so hopefully it gets in next week :)

@arrr to me it looks like btoc seems to be a little better quality but it is hard to tell. The joint support looks better on btoc compared to Kathy.

Kathy's "D020" turned out to be a knock-off of the SunshineStore one, with fewer slits and some other corner-cutting differences. Are we sure the Kathy and Btoc recyclers are definitely the same?

They do at least look the same, this time, though.

So after obsessively watching this thread for a while .
I think I am getting ready to get one of these .
http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-...-pipe-with-two/193620248.html#cppd-1-5|null:5

Any body have bad experiences with it ?

To use my Cera with it would I need a 18mm-f to 18mm-f adapter?(if works well with my current 18mm f ) and if so do any of these guys sell one ?
jwYxzyP.jpg

I have the same can in a ash collector 14mm configuration. The piece you are looking at I want as well. 18mm I believe it comes in.

Welcome to affordable glass!

edit:
I experienced a violent tornado vortex with this piece.

It would seem that you guys are giving a lot of trust and praise to a vendor who, just a couple weeks ago, was the one vendor who screwed up the most. Maybe Kathy has turned over a new leaf, but I would suggest it is too early to tell. I think I might be a littler less hopeful that everything Kathy is on the way up...
But maybe I'm just a curmudgeon. :)
