Hey Guys! I'm back! Had to get account approval for even discussing the possibility of selling 3D printed accessories for vapes. Fortunately @vtac approved selling 3D printed accessories, and I'm back baby! (I'll be posting links in my signature once I have my threads and store built)

Seems to me a LOT of guys are reporting this exact thing? Always at the end of the session (hot unit) and hangs up at 398F?
I smell some sort of temperature safety going on, normal type failures usually don't repeat like that. I don't think it's an accident. I think the way it shows up when the unit is hot and not when cold is telling.
Has anyone got a resolution/explanation from the maker?

After a bunch of testing on this issue, I can say it doesn't seem like a temperature safety issue going on, nor does it sound like a 'feature'. My unit has the same issue whenever I set the temperature between 398F and 402F - anywhere between there causes issues. If I set the temperature up to 403 or higher, the problem is resolved.

It does not seem to be caused by an overheating issue either as I will run a low-temp session, wait a few hours, then finish my session by starting at 375. After two minutes at 375, I bump it up to 400F - but the temperature still reads 375F!! If i bump up again to 404F, the screen updates to reflect 404F. If I power cycle (leaving it set at 400F), the unit will read 398F! Other times it reads 397F, but never 399, 400, 401, or 402F.

I noticed that I've been breaking glass pipe screen stems inside my Ascent due to the high temps (these new glass screens are more breakable) Some pieces are tiny. If you are saving your ABV be careful, you don't want to ingest shards of glass.

Strange, I have the daisy flowers with the stem, and have had no problems with them. I have not broken a single glass flower in my 2 weeks of constant use (using the same ones every time). In fact, the only time I've really had to handle broken glass flowers was when I first recieved my package of 50 - about 15 to 20 of the flowers were stuck together as if they had been thrown in a pile while still soft and they stuck together.

9. Primary Strain, pre-ground. That is the container that my 40+ Glass flowers came in. It is the *PERFECT* diameter for tap-loading the Ascent. And the lid is attached and opens with one hand... important if the other hand is full of Ascent. I would buy more of these for #8 and #6, but, unfortunately, "small container with lid" is too broad a search in Amazon, so I haven't been able to find more. Any help here?

Does anyone have tips on how to get the oil jars out? Mine is stuck inside the chamber.
Also this thing is terrible for oils and any concentrates it seems. The lids come off too easy and the oil goes everywhere in the chamber too. Does anyone know of a good way to get the chamber white again? The oil stained in brown pretty badly and a few iso scrubbings haven't helped.

Don't know how well this would work - but take a paper towel or a few cotton balls- apply a bit of Iso (don't drench the paper towel, but get it 'moist') - stuff the chamber and let the iso soak in for 10-20 minutes - try cleaning with a cotton swab and some fresh iso (make sure you are using the 91% iso).

Just an update on the 3D printed loading stands. I have a model nearly ready for sale, but I want to 3d print one last test fit before I upload a link (should have that ready in a day or two). I only have one item on the store - the tamper. I'm waiting for tonight to test-print a basic loading stand. Once I verify it fits, I'll add a link to both my store and my FC manufacturer thread to my signature.

I really don't want to sell any items on my store without first verifying the part fits perfectly - I'd hate for someone to buy an item, and find it's completely useless!

I should have a stand and tamper up for sale within 24 hours

I can guarantee you people he cant speak proper english. Judging by his name and his previous comments Pepus is a catalan boy. Pepus being short for Josep, a very common catalan name... People from that region dont tend to speak very good english....

Wow! Cool insight. I too found some of his posts 'stranger than others'. I had to look up Catlalan (of course.....). Very interesting. I worked with a Basque fellow years ago, the same sort of idea on the same border only NW of there? Great guy to work with, good attitude, very friendly. He took a few of us to the 'best real Basque restaurant I know in this country' (Sparks Nevada of all places.....). Great food, except the tripe part. Serious family dining, long tables, we got the next 5 spots, 3 on one side 2 on the other and had a great meal (everyone ate the same stuff) with strangers all around. By the time the meal was over, we were way past 'please pass the bread'.

Small, and very rich, world we live in. Like the French/Flemish thing in Belgium, much more interesting than I was taught about in school. Go figure.

Anyway, welcome to the Forum and all the fun Yahmuffin and Pepus, hope to 'hear' more from you both as time goes on. In fact, please make that 'looking forward to it'.

I lived in the basque country for around a year or so and you're absolutely right: People are amazing and so is food. It is actually so good that the small region has more michellin stared restaurants per square mile than any other place in the world (Including Paris). Nice meeting you as well...

I'm sorry, I was saying to him that his guess was right, I'm actually Catalan. But I have to say that the Pakalolo's quote wasn't referred to me but to a Farcus2323's question.

I know that my English is not enough good yet, but considering I started to learn it by myself a few years ago and that I'm almost 50 yo I think it is pretty decent, don't you think so?

You will see that the Ascent is an amazing device, you will not regret of your purchase. I was waiting for something like that for years and now that I got it I'm really pleased, my only snag is the disappointing about the real battery life.

For all the people that are struggling with screen flowers and similar I have to say that I have had testing with a tiny oval rolling stone and it works fine, I think it keeps the heat into the herb while prevents it to arrive to the mouth... and it's much cheaper too

Don't know how well this would work - but take a paper towel or a few cotton balls- apply a bit of Iso (don't drench the paper towel, but get it 'moist') - stuff the chamber and let the iso soak in for 10-20 minutes - try cleaning with a cotton swab and some fresh iso (make sure you are using the 91% iso).

I'd consider a tiny pin punch through the bottom. You should be able to fish a say 1/16 inch one in through one of the vent holes against the jar. Then support it from the rim upside and press it out.

It might come out easier if you heat the oven up with the water full of water to keep it cool. I wouldn't put cold water in the jar when it's hot of course but in desperation I think I'd try that dump the water and try pushing it before the jar can warm?

Finally, it's only glass. With patients I think you should be able to slip say an exacto knife blade in the gap and wedge it in enough to chip a piece out without harming the glaze in the bowl. Again, not a plan for the timid. For some it's just a tool, and jammed up it's not a very useful one......

And no, I don't think anyone is very excited about oils. IMO there are much better alternatives.

DISCLAIMER: You are about to read advice from someone who broke one, trying to get it out.

In my case, one got stuck because of the resin accumulating on the outside. It was sticky to the touch, but I decided to use it "one last time" before cleaning. I let it cool after use, and it wasn't until later I then tried to get it out. I used a wooden chopstick to try to rock it back and forth to "break" the adhesion. Broke the jar instead. I can't help but feel that if I had heated it instead of doing it cold, I could have gotten it out.

So it sounds like you got oil everywhere, including between the oven walls and the jar walls, and that is what has glued it in place. I would think heat would help you there.

Also, I've found snapping the lid in, and then using the tool in the buddy rim area to pull on the lid, usually does a good job of removing slightly stuck oil cans. Perhaps that, added with heat, will be enough to get a more stuck can out?

I'll try a few times heating it up then maybe fishing it through the bottom. It did get like this before but I was able to get the jar dislodged by putting the lid back in and using the tools after slamming the bottom twice and trying to get an exacto knife around it. It is really stuck this time though! Ridiculous how the oil has only stayed in once it seems; I've put the lids on fully and everything.

Sorry about that glass can getting stuck. I have heard about other people breaking their cans, I didn't realize they're that fragile. I've been holding out on trying some crumble wax in my Ascent. I was waiting for some feedback from people who have tried oils/waxes. In the meantime I bought an Ego-c Twist variable voltage pen with a glass globe setup and I'm really liking it. I'm not going to get in to on this thread but the Ego setup only costs about $35.

This is why I stopped using my jar as a top for micro-loads. I feared it would get stuck in the chamber.

I suggest heat the unit up to 375/400F - and after a minute or two of heating the unit, use a long skinny nail in the holes in the bottom to push the jar up (do this while the unit is closed) - That should shift the jar up enough for it to come loose.

Then open the unit and continue pushing to eject the jar from the unit.

Completely off-topic and just as a matter of interest: as @Pepus verified, I wasn't referring to him. One of my closest friends and a man I worked with for more than 35 years was a Basque from Barcelona. I edited his writing throughout that time so I am more than a little familiar with the turn of phrase and choice of words of someone from Catalonia speaking English. That's not to say that I could recognize where Pepus was from by his posts, but it was obvious that English isn't his first language, and in hindsight I can easily see the similarities with my old friend—who, by the way, was better with English than many native speakers.

Ether is one of the more powerful thinner, more than alcohol, but surely it is difficult to get.

You can buy the Mr Clean erasers @ lowes. Link below. I've torn small pieces & used per directions. Very good results at removing spots & brings the oven back to like new condition. Afterwards a good Qtip ISO cleaning & burn in. Nice & Brite white.

Thanks I'll try the Magic Eraser. Well, I did about 5 burn offs in a row at 430, with the chamber closed, I used a small pin to push up the jar through the grating in the bottom. Paperclips broke too easily and other things couldn't fit in. After getting one of the sides to finally budge, I did another high temp round then tried to work it so the jar at least came up somewhere at the top out of the chamber. After that, I took a pair of pliers and was able to rip it out. The chamber seems fine just very brown and the jar is okay. So it made it out mostly unscathed through this whole ordeal, I just wish it handled oils better.

I use a pair of hemostats the take my oil can out when it's hot. I use them for the glass flowers also.

I'm really pleased to introduce my redesigned "mini loading stand". Much smaller than my previous design, much cheaper for Shapeways to print, and more stable (in my opinion).
