sweet! awesome response time, gonna be itchin at the trigger to grab one!! I read some earlier forum posts on people using 7.4v batteries in the 3.7 herc, is it safe to bump the voltage up on the 3.7 rod? or was that on such an earlier version its a non-issue at this point?

I have not seen anyone crazy enough to use the 3.7v Herc at 7.4v just not possible plus it's not safe.

In preparation for the delivery of my SR-74 white rod and Ti coils tomorrow, let me ask you this...

Can you please post a picture of the proper rod placement as well as what the ohms should read for a properly installed rod? Id assume the resistance will be the same as an SR74 outright, even though Im using SR71 hardware (other than the rod and coil)?

The SR74 white rod used in the SR71 is the same position as the SR71 white rod.

The only change is when you actually have a sr74 center post, and if you do have a sr74 center self adjusting post then the rod sits in this position.

Just to be clear, ive got a 74 rod coming in for my 71 as well. I usually have my 71 rods the same way as the thumbs down picture. Is that how its supposed to be with the sr71?

If anyone need help with 3.7v hercs feel free to pm me. Ive posted my technique a few time on here but i know how long this thread is and how annoying searching can be.

I just switched back to the black rod, put it away for a while. The white rod is great and all, super easy to use with new people. But i just find the black rod soo much more enjoyable

one of my sr71 modifications seems to be a real improvement .
i was trying to solve the mouthpiece screen clogging issue that a few mentioned.

poking bigger holes doesn't solve the problem, but adding a wider mesh screen to the factory setup really does.

bowed up into the metal cap under the mouthpiece, the center holes of the added screen stay clear as the splatter runs back down the sides.

no more splatter making it past the factory MP screen.

I also would like clarification here. I usually have my 71 white rod set the way the "thumbs down" side sits, with a small sliver of the metal contact showing above the retaining nut.

You are saying that I SHOULD still have the SR74 rod sit that way? And does having the AAF installed change this at all?

Last thing, what should my multimeter read on a properly assembled unit in my case?

afaik, if you know how to setup your sr71, keep doing that with your sr71.

i too want to know what ohm readings i should expect with the new rod

:science:Yahoo!! I got my SR-74 "essentials kit" and Ti coils. Only problem is I just "fed" my Herc so I will have to do some heavy hitting to deplete it. Then I can begin to play with new parts. :tinfoil:

See and now you know why I cleaned mine and left it disassembled. ;)

Yeah I hear you. I had done that too, but then I got too lazy to keep loading the KISS so I "Fed the Beast"!
It will be so much fun trying to empty it quickly!

I got some old skool hash (on left)and was wondering if it would work in the Herc. I think it will but it will be "dirty".
I tried it on the KISS but that wasn't so good.
I tried it on the nail but that wasn't so good.
Next I will mix it with some herb and try the Bender.

Ok so if you are using a original SR 71 keep the same rod position no matter what rod version you are using.

If you are using a sr74 or a sr74 center post in a sr71 then the rod position in the image is the one on the right.

Sr74 whit rod should read 2.3ohms +/- .2 ohms for production variance.

So if i were to get an sr74 centerpost, i can use that in my sr71 and i dont need the new spring loaded bottom adapter?

Just wondering in case i break off one of the prongs on my center post now...

Also, cant thank @THC SCIENTIFIC enough for everything hes done for me and for putting up with me. You are truely the man!

If you use the sr74 center post you can only use the sr74 white rod. When using the sr74 center post then the rod placement is what is depicted in the image. You don't need the spring loaded bottom adapter but it's good to have.

Glad I can help.

Yes, it works well with hash, with some work. I just put a screen on top of the coil. It does funk up the coil a bit, so having a dedicated coil for less pure concentrates is good. If I had a 2nd herc I'd try it more often, to avoid having to clean the tank after each use.

Any word on when Ophos Ti KISS carts will be available? I'm currently using a Persei KISS which works fine it just doesn't look as cool. 1st world problem for sure but I need to order more KISS carts soon and I'm curious.
