Well honestly it sounds like it's working normally, but just not giving you the red light when it dies. If you used it the way I do, i.e. charge it every 20 hits or so without letting it completely drain, you wouldn't even notice there was anything different. (In five weeks of use I've seen the red light exactly twice.)

So perhaps whatever is up with your red light isn't impacting actual functionality, and may not be worth returning the unit over. Worth a conversation with FF before you do anything drastic. ;)

Don't get a red light at all. Just dies. No flashing red low battery life. Just sudden death. It doesn't just get weaker, it shuts down completely. Seriously impacts the functionality in my mind. Two bowls and dead is not satisfactory. Having to charge for 30-40 minutes for five minutes of use is not satisfactory.

Did contact them via email and web page contact form without reply. Now that I have a phone number and had the "chat" feature pointed out I can try that if/when work allows. That's why I was hoping for at least an initial email response to my situation.

But as most postings indicate they are customer oriented I am confident that I can get things straightened out. As I said it produces great tasting vapor, I'd just like it to work at least as well as most others seem to be.

Firefly will send you a prepaid FedX return label via email. As soon as they receive the confirmation from FedX that you have shipped your crippled unit, they will send out your replacement. Weekends are just that but come Monday they will be all over your problem. Sarah C. has been the best rep a customer could ever ask for. This has been my experience with their customer service, it rocks.

Yeah I didn't realize your charge lasted such a short time. While it won't get weaker, it'll just stop and give you a red light...but it should last longer than five minutes of use. Look on the bright side, you'll be getting a brand new one!

I have heard some people say that currently the firefly is the best portable vape at getting the most convection. Where as some other vapes also have some conduction due to constant hot metal contact

How good is the taste of the firefly vape vs other portable vapes? Id guess it should be pretty high on the list with all glass and metal pathway plus a lot of convection

Hi all, couple minor questions, since I am in the market for my first portable vape. I thought someone mentioned on a previous page that firefly has a live chat option, but I can't seem to locate it on their website. Can anyone confirm? Also, it may just be me, but in pictures of the unit its finish/sheen seems to vary. In some pictures it looks shiny, others more matte (especially with the black model). I'm wondering if they may have changed the design at all through the process. But can someone please confirm for me the "paint job" on their firefly? Cheers

Your gonna get a new unit with a new battery. I'll bet if your were happy before this issue you will be even happier with your new unit. Just my two cents. Early adopter heaven you will be in.

I think the chat option is durring the week days. The paint on the units are the same and they have a nice clear/gloss coat. I have the dark gray unit and it's highly polished. Painted like a fine sports car they are.

Thanks guys. It's between this and the soon to be released (I hope?) Grasshopper for me, which sounds so promising, for such a lower price. Course, I need it like yesterday, and who knows when the Grasshopper will really be ready, or how the reviews will be. Guess I just need to bite the bullet.

The Firefly is the best tasting, smootest hitting tricome extraction device I have used. Wish I would have read the FedX pick-up days before I let her go. Other units do the job, as the Firefly excels. It's like comparing a Volks Wagon to a Mercedes Benz/Lincoln/Caddilac/Rolls Royce. The glow of the glass bowl, the instant heat, the taste, the smoothness, the changeable battery, the view port, the shiny high end paint, the external charger and all at a reasonable price. Is there more to say. FUCK COMBUSTION!

Taste is amazing. I've always sort of laughed at the notion of tasting weed (especially when smoking) but there is no doubt this thing gives the full flavor. I had owned the vapor bros home vape for years until getting the FF and the taste on that pales in comparison to this.

For me, Firefly is a sweet, classy experience almost a sought after ritual. Using my others is for effect only, just like a habit.

Sup y'all, finding the Chapstick trick is counter productive with stuff that isn't bone dry, I think I'm not going to do the Chapstick trick at all anymore actually,

Anybody keep their FF spotless, like show room clean? Haha I'm always like this with new fancy stuff, I just don't feel right storing the FF all dirtied up. Mine is on the charger, looks like the day it was born!

Edited to add cleaning regimen:

Ok I wait till it's cool, start with lid, I havent had to do any real cleaning to the viewing side of the lid, just wipe with the supplied microfiber bag.

For the vapor channel side I clean the channels and window with 91% on a qtip. I switch to a fresh qtip once it's dirty, I'm going through the box of qtips rather quickly
Clean the channels until it's free of all residue, then a cosmetic brush to remove and specs stuck on inner gasket edges, then a fresh qtip damp with water on the inner rubber. That's it, really careful to keep the 91% off the rubber.
It's amazing how the Qtips fit perfectly in the channels.

Next I use the supplied brush to clean out the bowl, sliding the screen around and blowing into the bowl, I do this until I don't see any specs. :uhoh:

Then 91% and qtip around outside area of bowl, once it's clear of gumminess, I use the cosmetic brush to clear out any dust and remnants in the tiny space between the stainless plate and glass bowl. Then I use 91% & qtip on inside of bowl, on screen, qtip not dripping wet, just damp. I do this until the qtip stays white. Last step, I take a cotton -shirt -turned- rag and get it nice and wet with 91% and I wipe down stainless plate. Take microfiber bag and wipe off streaks. Voila!

I tried that method over and over and found my stuff would lift up on one edge to allow air flow. I want the air to go through my herbs to extract all that goodness. Just a light finger press has been working fine for me.

Qtips, 91%, brush, cotton cloth, check but I had no clue the included carry bag takes out the streaks? Thank you for that glowing piece of info, streaks no more.

I am finding if I press too hard there is a localized area that gets more charred in the center bottom. I also just lightly press either a med grind or just put in a piece of flower. The kind I like is fairly loose in structure so it works great.

For anyone curious, looks like the battery and charger are shipping out of Nevada instead of Florida. At least mine did.

Well, to add insult to injury the gasket on the window lid has also become detached!

Anyhow, contacted them through Chat and Sarah C. called me back to discuss my issues.

As expressed by many others here, she was very warm and helpful. As a result she sent me a shipping label and I am returning the necessary parts to them. Kudos to them.

She did say that two bowls was what was to be expected and recommended an extra battery.

Hi,

I’ve been a lurker here for a little while and felt compelled to post my impressions of the brand-spankin’-new Firefly I just received a few weeks ago for the holidays.

In a word, this thing is fantastic, far exceeding my expectations! The packaging, fit & finish, and most of all, the performance is all quite high-end, with a look and feel that would make it feel at home on a nicely appointed living room coffee table, for example. It has a very pleasing weight to it – a solid feeling in your hand that screams “quality.” I bought a silver version and the paintwork, chrome inlays, and mesh grill is very classy; in short, this is a device you will want to show off to people. It’s on the larger side as far as portability, which for me is not a problem, but if you are looking for small and discrete this is probably not for you: you hold it just like a bowl, and since the glass bowl and vents glow orange during heating, it kind of looks like a bowl too, albeit a very futuristic-looking one!

But now on to daily use & performance. To be honest, I had no problems whatsoever getting incredible, near-instant performance right out of the box. I didn’t follow all the advice floating around about preheating for a specified number of seconds or releasing the button at a specific point mid-hit, or whatever. For me, I simply put it to my lips and held the button down continuously while drawing on the mouthpiece in a smooth, long fashion until I could feel it in my lungs – this was usually enough to give me a fairly sizeable cloud even from the first hit. For the second hit, you can easily “feel” during your draw that the temp is already high and you can release the button sooner, it is very intuitive. In fact, I think it’s easier if you think of the button just like it was a “carb” on a traditional bowl – you hold it down and just let go once when your lungs are telling you that you got the hit / strength you were looking for. I don’t think about it at all, and I am consistently getting huge, hits with huge clouds.

And that’s where I am enjoying this the most: the size and strength of hits. For me, I’ve always felt that portable vapes just never provided the same “whallop” like you would get from a bong, for example (not that I want to be wasted after every single session, but I have times where I just want to let go and go for it). For example, the Pax is super discrete but the hits always felt “light” to me; my previous DaVinci was stronger than the Pax but much harsher, so I’d always be dialing the temp back. Not so the Firefly! If you want a bong-level rip, it can deliver; if you want something lighter, let the button go and cut your draw short. It’s so smooth that you’ll find you can hold bigger hits for longer….almost like driving a high-end german sedan where you suddenly wonder how the hell you ended up going so fast. I’ve found you can get more than you bargained for if you’re not careful with how big a hit you take; and I think this may be due to its high efficiency. I’m not sure about others’ experience, but I’m finding that nuggets go much further with this thing….which may save me money in the long run.

Comments on battery life: this has been more than acceptable for me. I am able to get 3 full sessions out of it per charge, with 5-6 big hits per session (7 or more if you’re diligent and “stir” between every few hits), so that would equate to approximately 15 – 21 hits per charge. But this is at fairly high temps trying to extract the biggest hits; if you are more subtle, it could well last much more. As such, it’s more of a “wireless home unit” that can be taken outside as needed, but it CAN work in those situations too, as long as you don’t need something so discrete – but you will definitely want to have an extra battery or two handy though.

All in all, I couldn’t be happier. It’s the perfect vape for my everyday use, and that is saying something! All my other devices are now starting to collect dust since the Firefly arrived….I think at some point I could also envision having a Pax around as well for those more discrete situations, but if you want a knock-out, full-blown vape session with a device that is powerful yet smooth, high performance yet wireless, and above all beautifully stylish, I can’t think of much else out right now that delivers more in all these areas.

I too use it like a carb hole. Only difference between my use is I definitely find I need to hold the button for a number of seconds before inhaling to get the bigger clouds. This may be due to my herbs not being as dry and ready as others.

From their web site;

How long does a battery charge last?
Answer: A fully-charged battery can deliver up to 50 instant inhalations in a row. Your experience may vary based on your usage and normal aging of battery capacity.

So...I question if your 2 bowls meet these claims?

Don't know what an "instant inhalation" is, but no way you get 25 hits off one bowl (if indeed it is a two bowl limit). In any case, they are making it right, hopefully, with a new unit heading my way already.

Your new device will work alot better. Both of mine seemed to work fine just some seal issues with both and some paint issues with number 2. They got comfirmation of my shipment to them, mine should go out tomorrow. What was your RMA 27?

Was told not to expect shipping/tracking notice till end of day tomorrow so "heading my way" may be a tad optimistic, but close enough.
