Whoa! Flashback. Ender's Game is such a great book! But whenever i see the name Petra it recalls my ultra-conservative 80's childhood, which meant all music came from the Christian bookstore (except my Dad's secret record stash from the 60's and 70's).

THIS is PETRA ("Hard" Christian Rock) :rolleyes:or:rockon:, whatever floats your boat:

They were the one band that I really liked, otherwise I was like, "Mom, Dad, this Jesus music sux . How are Huey Lewis and the News doing the Devil's work, again?" Ahhhhh, the 80's.

Continued Edit: Ok, ok, I really liked lusted after Amy Grant, too. That gorgeous woman introduced me to sin, I swear it. She was like Mia Sara, but Christian. Amy Grant + Legend was all my boyhood imagination needed for ritualistic masturbation sinning.
i was the same as a kid. had a friend try to give my Van Halen's unlawful carnal knowledge and mom popped her top when she found it. like i had any idea what 'carnal' meant and they really were pro-rape .

a year later we moved to the NW which had 3 (!!) rock stations. a buddy played "appetite" and "ride the lightning" for me and i was instantly transformed into a rock junkie! have been ever since.

was picked on a lot (ginger) and this song had my almost screaming and crying at the same time. 3rd track off of appetite. years of anger finally found a voice. so much release....

sorry for radio edit version! can't believe someone bleeped a live show!
here's the album cut

I saw Faith No More/Metallica/GunsNRoses back in the 90's. Faith No More sounded horrible. but Metallica was awesome! Axl Rose was so wasted he couldn't even perform, and he was nasty to the audience, so we ended up leaving early . At least we got to see a good concert thanks to Metallica.

i wanted to go to that show so fuckin' bad. i wouldn't talk to my dad for a month when tickets sold out. i expected as much from axl, but at that age i wouldn't have cared, now i wouldn't go see "gnr" unless it was free and i had nothing better to do that night.
i don't let that take away from it tho ;)
found that full concert from the ritz in '88 uncensored for those who care (probably just me, lol)

and something a little current to show how far shit has come......

Wow from reading those last few posts by Paka I'd say he's making every effort to fit in the thread. How the mighty have fallen.

Damn, and here I thought I'd rehabilitated myself. You know those shock pages @mvapes tried to get you to visit? Well in my really naughty days, we considered those to be rookie pages. You'll have to take my word for it though, I will not be sucked into a gross-out war. You should thank me, really.

Those pics are CRAAAAZY, Bob!
But naturally, to be found at the bottom of these cliffs....

(actually these were sheep forced over a cliff by a pack of wolves. Sad. I'm usually alright with nature's cruelty, but this just seems tragic to me.)
