Thanks for the reply OF, you were the guy i wanted to hear from, hmm seems pretty good then. Im already past the dildo factor of the unit, looks like i will have to get one of these for myself for xmas. I dont really need it to hit me that hard, just want to be able to get well medicated off of it, for me the main reason im buying one is because i often go on long multi day motorcycle rides, and i have to resort to smoking up out of a crude pipe or a joint (hate the taste) because i cant pack my extreme q with me (most space efficient vaporiser design on the market lol) but this cera looks great for just chucking in my tank bag and going riding. Hell if i had an open face helmet i could probably blaze this while riding. But thats not a good idea kids. So as long as this thing could get me as high as a few joints do (not very tbh) then ill be happy.

I could always make some bubble hash anyway, im sure if i asked around i could find some.

Just to let you known it is really unnecessary to just buy a new core if you were to have a failure. Just clean the core entirely with boiling water.

Hey all,

Just joined the forum - longtime Volcano user and have my heart set on picking up a Cera in the near future.

Does anyone have any idea if Thermovape will be releasing an updated/mini version of the Cera soon?
I read talk of a mini Cera in this thread but nothing definitive regarding release date, etc.

I definitely want to pick up a Cera but I'm willing to wait if Thermovape will be releasing a new version soon.

Back when it was first mentioned, it was forecasted as being a year out, and that was in January if I recall correctly.

i just hope when the mini comes out they might take back the original cera for the mini replacement.

I don't believe it's meant as a replacement, because last I heard it's not intended for use with the LL cart.

Lol!, Doubt it, they wouldn't profit at all on the new units. Thermovape has been great to me, but I never thought of asking them to trade my 2 T1's, 3 ultra dart combos, 2 revs and a couple tops and adapters for a new Cera. Maybe I'll shoot them an email.

Yup, i thought i could wait it out patiently... But i was wrong. I was hoping i could exchange the original cera for the mini whenever that happened but i doubt they would do that. Considering everyone probably would want to...

Ill still probably get the mini body though if they sell it individually...but is it still even in the works? Didnt they lose a bunch of people?

There was an update from Tim saying he'd gone back to visit and he mentioned it was looking good. So yes, I believe it's still in the works.

Well, just happened to stop into TET today to catch up with the guys, Anthony and Will pulled an all-nighter working on dialing in the EL core. All the core parts are in and just have to dial in the Wire gauge and resistance and they should be ready to start shipping. I tried a zero nicotine one out and it defiantly was working on par with the AVA's, gave them a few ideas to improve it a little more and i think we have a real winner!!

Also got to see a few pictures of the Mini, i guess it wasn't there at the time. They are still working on the push-push switch mechanism to get it working perfectly but otherwise it looks pretty nice.

Moving the button to the side would be nice. Ergonomics and stealthiness, or lack thereof, were the only two issues I had with my Cera. So I let a friend borrow my Cera who decided it would be a good idea to put his homemade oil in it... it was not up to Cera's standards... So I was reading up on deep cleaning and became confused about the 20/20/20 cleaning. When in the process do I do this? after the iso and boil? after drying in the oven? Probably around the same size, just lighter. Cant really get any smaller with the 18650 batteries. Obviosuly side button is the main change as well as probably the material used to maket he body.

some people like to use the 20/20/20 burn as the main way to clean their core to avoid losing oil, i believe? Its also used to get rid of excess water after cleaning...what you want to do for the best results, and since you probably wont mind losing any of the oil...

Is about a 20-30 min boil, then soak in iso for 20-30 mins or longer (overnight would be ideal but not necessary), and after the iso soak do another 5-10 min boil to get rid of any lingering iso... After these 3 steps you want to do the 20/20/20 burn or possibly a few of them. Start by blowing out any remaining liquid. Then heat for 20 seconds, rest for 20 seconds and then another 20 seconds of heat...do this as many times as it takes so you dont hear a sizzle...i usually wait 5 mins in between 20/20/20 burns but thats just me.

You can also place it in an oven after the final boil at around 200F for 10-15 mins to reduce the number of 20/20/20s you have to do

This is close to what I understand (and have done) with the exception that you don't do heating if the core is wet. If it sizzles, stop and dry it out. Having water (or ISO) in the pores of the ceramic and boiling it to steam there can break up the ceramic as I'm told.

Note repeated warnings "Do not to force dry using ovens or internal heating element, as this may damage the heating element".

Heating is probably OK, but keep the maximum temperature under 212F until the water is all gone.

The idea behind the 20/20/20 burn is to raise the core temperature hotter than it normally gets.

Not very likely since nobody is making an adapter to fit it. If the question is 'has anyone run their Cera on a mains powered supply rather than batteries, yes, I have. And AFAIK Kevin still is as he's the current holder of my second prototype, my "Flintstone PA" if you will. I've made 3 different versions and posted here about them.


That version uses an external regulator (like Core does) so there are losses in the wiring. The first and third put the regulator in the Cera eliminating that problem. Although I like the wood dowel, screws and so on of this version.

IMO it works well if you can get past the cord part. I generally use batteries personally.

My solution in this version is a pushbutton on the body, something that is sought as a feature as you know. Turns out the Velcro strip is useful insulation from body heat.

So, that's what it takes, an insert and some sort of switch that can deal with the current.

Are you sure? I think he's run them on Persei but AFAIK not on Cera.

Could you maybe add a second sleve (end cap) that the switch screws into to the bottom and drill a small hole in the side, then you could put a switch in there and evrything would be inside the Cera and the button on the side just lower?? This would make Cera 1" longer but who cares at home. Possible??

Sure, in fact I tried it down there but my thumb is on the wrong end of my fist to make it work right. I'd considered putting a lever on it up the side like one of my earlier 'mechanical latching switches' but I found the control there awkward compared to pushing the button with my thumb.

If you make a new cap, rather than use the factory switch adapter ring like I did, you can put the switch in and probably still cut the length off a bit. No need to make it longer, since the switch can be very tiny as it doesn't carry full current.

Lots is possible, I guess.
