what makes the high feel different than smoking?

The effects feel cleaner to me but I was try to explain to a friend what that means. I was just wondering exactly what the scientific explanation is of why thr high feels different. Vaping cannabis vs smoking it?

I am not sure of the science behind it, but some feel that there are some effects from the chemicals present from combusting, that are absent when vaping. To be honest, I just found that I needed to find the proper vaporizer, and the high ended up feeling the same, if not better.

Most people report less of a body effect (sativa vs. indica differences still apply, and body chemistries do vary). Both carbon monoxide and benzene, present in much higher doses with smoke, promote drowsiness. Both, in high enough doses, will put you to sleep permanently. So vaporizing, for most people, provides a high that leaves you with more energy. Unlike with smoking, I can vape up again after a while, and it tends to make me more alert, rather than more sleepy.

As you raise the vaping temp closer to combustion, you get more analgesic and sedative compounds (one reason lots of medical users prefer higher temps), and closer to the smoke effect with more byproducts kicking in.

That's my take on it anyway. Solid scientific studies will have to wait until the government gets its head out of its ass.

^ What he said, plus vaporizers won't give you as much as an adrenaline rush, which is a major reason people like smoking, as smoking would unless you do certain things that will provide one. IF you should do this, is another topic. You can look on the site for more on adrenaline and its effect on vaporizing.

Pretty sure science backs up what you said there. It's complicated with the various non toxic, medicinal/recreational compounds, for sure.

i think max nailed it, there are high temp compounds that aren't getting vaped that get released during combustion.

i always thought it made sense to use an avb tincture or avb edibles while vaping to stimulate the 'total' smoking effect

Plus cbd, which provides that calming effect vapes at a higher temp than thc, therefore you feel more alert.

Thanks for all the great input. I know I feel healthier. I saw something that said sativa was used for wieght loss. I thought it was bs at best but since I've mainly been using stairs I've lost wieght, I'm also working 10hrs a day with no time to eat, accept Dorritos which I'm completely booked on, frito lay knows stoners!

Anyway yeah I feel like it is a clear better high. I'm stoned but concentrating and lately I've been praised for my jack harer cronic hashish laced out of the box type thinking that will make my company more money and secure my position for years to come.

I have to disagree a bit; vaping doesn't necessarely make you more active. After a heavy session, you're pretty much on your ass.
I also discovered that the high last longer and the recovery too. MEaning that you may even feel the effects on the next day, unlike with smoking!
Did anybody make a similar experience?

Overdoing lots of substances, including food, can put you out of it. The fact remains that I can be deep into the sleepy aftereffects of a vaping session- like an hour or so later, and take a hit at a low to medium temp, and be wide awake and alert again. Smoking never worked that way for me.

You say you can become alert and awake after vaping some at low-med temps, but are you really sure that this is the case. Have you tried working, social contacts etc.?
It may make you more active in the sense that you become more active at home or go out walking, but you don't actually get more "energy" than staying sober imo.

imo, one still has that typical "laziness"

decaptain the effects of some strains do make me more awake and active and sociable then if I'm not vaping but then again I'm not purely a recreational user .
I do love Indica heavy strains that will always slow me down and knock me on my ass and relieve pain due to CNS damage . Sativa heavy strains will boost my appetite and relieve nausea , also they help me deal with fatigue when I don't want to get out of bed or my lazyboy to deal with life or needing to be face to face with a group of people . I can blast indica and get couch lock and less pain then some lower temps with sativa to get up , Eat and get going .

If I were to smoke I would never want to leave the house . If "sober" ( don't like this term when applied to herb, since I'm a long sober Drunk) I'd be dead .

I think Max MIGHT have some experience here.

Lazy? Lol I work 10 hours a day vaping when I see fit, barely stopping for more Dorritos and maybe a quick trip to the dispensary on wax Wednesdays, but I still get things done.........alert, working still solving problems, still working Boss.!

Gotta agree, my new solo and some good sativa is saving my life and job. I'm a 24 year old medical patient with severe arthritis in my wrist since a bad dirt biking accident at 17. 2 surgeries and 5 pins later and another scheduled to fuse my wrist so I can only move it 10 degrees :(to help slow the spread of arthritis. No desire to pop pills for the next 50 years so herb it is.

Just got promoted to a sales job so now I'm in and out of machine shops and some high end Cnc design shops dealing with very intelligent people. Before this I have combusted daily for 7 years and just had to stop for my promotion because combusting does make me too "lazy". Now I vape pretty well all day, and am constantly on my feet in and out working with customers and am never feeling lazy. In fact when working late, vaping some good sativa is better then a cup of coffe for me. :2c:

Sorry for the rant just wanted to point out with the right strains and right vape, energy and real medicinal value is possible(also just tried a few new mixes in the solo) It also doesn't hurt to hand pick strains and grow your own haha:tup:

ermm, what does post count have to do with experience??
one can vape for 10 years and then find this forum, or is that not a possibilty?

or post 100s of "useless" posts (i'm not meaning max, but as a gerenral example)

and if you guys didn't understand me correctly: i'm not saying vaping (even daily) makes you not work... I'm saying working while vaped is not the optimal . if you use it to relax after work only, it's not even comparable..

or would you like to go to a surgeon who hits the vape by the hour by flying to the place.. in a plane where the pilot ate huge amount of hash brownies before take off? lol

but OF COURSE there are jobs where it doesn't matter much, or, it may actually help.

...and there are plenty of people, some of which are on here, who cannot function "normally" without the medical benefits of MJ.

I saw it as you questioning whether someone was really able to function with MJ. and, no, we don't call people's usage into question on here. Not unless they ask for help.

I know for a fact vaporizing keeps me far more alert and energized and healthier than smoking. I have been smoking about 20 years Vaping about 2. I wake and vape everymorning before a 30 min drive to work. Work a very busy retail job answering in depth questions and dealing monies. No onehas a clue and when I get home I hit the vape then go weed whack the yard.Vaping is my coffee so to say. Can I do my jobs without it ?..Sure..But it just more fun to do it stoned!

I gave up combustion for good eight years ago as it was giving me bronchitis.
Vaping gives me a clear, clean, high energy buzz with no fuzziness the next day and no bronchitis.
I don't get high at work (professional driver) but I can see how it could enhance performance for some jobs.

I just do better at live in general with vaping. I forget less, more active, more social it's just good. At work no one can keep up, physically or mentally, when I was combusting it was foggy and hard even if in not stoned at the time.

I smoked cannabis since 1970 and enjoyed it until the last few years. Smoking was giving me bronchitis .
If I laid off for a few days the smokers hack went away. The smoking was gradually grossing me out with the smell and strong taste plus I really wasn't getting off anymore so I quit weed for three months and didn't miss it at all.
Then I started researching vaporization and became curious. So I went to a vape lounge in Toronto to buy a Vapor Genie and the salesman treated me to two tokes of Bubblegum out of a Volcano bag and whoa what a buzz I got that day.
My tolerance was down and I so enjoyed the very powerful and euphoric high...not like smoking at all.
I was sold so now I have several vapes and enjoy cannabis more now than I ever have.
I'm going to load up my Iolite right now and go on a long hike on the trails with my wife.

Awesome Nunavut. I'd be sold on the idea of vaping off that post alone if I weren't already ;)

Another benefit from vapor I failed to mention is lack of hangovers which I got from smoking...nothing severe like an alcohol hangover but often the next day after smoking I was fuzzy, lazy and a bit headachy at least for a while till the coffee kicks in .
After a vape session I sleep well and wake up the next morning feeling refreshed with virtually no side effects other than a big smile.
The carbon monoxide and benzene present in smoke from combusted plant matter can't be doing any good. It's a bonus to minimize the amount of toxins introduced into our body when we live in such a polluted world .
So three cheers for straight unadulterated cannabinoids. LOL
