Arizer Solo

I now have my PVHE gong 14mm and my PA. Running through the PN WT the taste is amazing! Although I now find I can blast through a bowl a lot faster and get less vapor than before? Seems the first hit or 2 is huge then it thins out. This is using fine grind with screen full bowl packed a little. Tried it with a nug and same results. Not that I am complaining but without the water attachment it would take me two back to back 12min sessions and I was still getting vapor. I am also finding this from temps 3-7.

that's because your running it through water now and are able to get bigger hits. Gotta be it? Or because you have the water attachment you might be able to hit it harder and faster which then cools it down faster?

Help me out, FC. I just need some basic advice on buying a SOLO and don't have time to read 600+ pages of this thread.

I'm sick of waiting for the damn Ascent so I'm going to be buying a SOLO for my 1st portable vape TODAY! I found a local headshop that sells it for $250 with a 15% discount for MMJ card holders. That makes it only $212.50 so does that mean they're not an authorized dealer because it's sells for less than 220something? I really don't want to ask them because that's like asking any salesman any question. You should never do it.

So the warranty is a must-have for me. Also, how will I know it's not an older unit. I read something about newer versions that had improvements so I would hate to get an older one. Is there a way I can tell without opening up the box?? Perhaps there's a date or serial number I could look for. I doubt they'll let me open up the box.

Thanks a lot for any advice you can give me. Can't wait to be able to vape in the woods!!! and on the job!

Okay so I bought mine and my husbands SOLO (M108 the newest model) from an authorized dealer on ebay and they are registered through Arizer. As far as the warranty goes...for me...its a matter of the value you get out of it. Meaning, how much do you use it daily? How much money have you SAVED using the SOLO compared to your previous device or piece? And how much has it improved your overall health, ease of portability and use, quality from your herbs, etc.? For me...I paid $160 for my SOLO and returned my investment within 2-3 weeks. So from this point anything I have to put into it id okay because my savings more than makes up for it. I hope that helps you in your decision and ask if you have any more questions! :)

Yes I would like to see that! Thanks so much for all your help! :)

Here you go.

Do this at your own risk

Step 1, unscrew the top lid to expose the four screws underneath it.
Fb0huKD.jpg

Step 2, remove the four screws, but be careful once you have them out as the entire heater assembly can be pulled out & you could possibly pull wires out of the bottom of it & ruin it.
rJlMluF.jpg

Make sure you place the solo on a flat surface while unscrewing instead of holding onto the metal body or you could break the four plastic screw tabs on the bottom of the unit
ZoswUiO.jpg

Step 3, carefully pry back the tabs on either side just enough for the edge of the heater cover to pop past it but be careful not to break them (if you do its not the end of the world but just slightly more difficult to put back together)
dcqJmgk.jpg

Step 4, pull off the top of the three "discs" but be careful not to remove either of the other 2 or you could damage it to the point of disrepair. Do not use the screwdriver to pry it apart, I only used it to just separate the top disc from the other 2 as there are a couple wires cemented in that you could damage as well.
Eqw8oB0.jpg

Step 5, now that you have the heater cover off, the retaining ring will easily pop out of the bottom.
DRXvOkx.jpg

Step 6, carefully cut back the damaged section with a razor blade, you can use a wood dowel that fits (I only had a wooden spoon handy to show in the picture as I did not want to show my finger inside of it, in other words DO NOT CUT WITH YOUR FINGER INSIDE OF THE RING, I hope that goes without saying but better safe than sorry)
AfSj9Td.jpg

Now all that is left to do is put it all back together then put the o-ring right in the lip that you created by cutting off part of the retaining ring and screw the metal cap back on to hold it in place. Just be careful putting the heater cover back on you just need to line it up & it will pop right back together & the discs will line up perfectly with each other & the screw holes (don't worry if everything isn't perfectly square with the tabs, mine is slightly askew but it all lines up). Also just so you know I checked & the o-ring fits perfectly through the heater cover once the retaining ring has been removed so it should be a great fit but at first it may be a little tight (like brand new) until it gets worn in a little. This also would a great place you use some of OF's mods on the rings to improve airflow.

For the OP or anyone who wants to try this (may solve the fatter caps not screwing on all the way) please be careful & use common sens, if you are not comfortable doing this don't try & if you think you can do it but start to feel uncomfortable at any step you should probably just stop & put it back together.

Just ordered myself a new PVHE GONG Turbo stem, ultra fine screens and PA! Can't wait for it all to arrive from Canada now, I have to be patient :(

im torn with the turbo gong . . . now dont get me wrong, its great and haslittle to no restriction, so its easy to take a big rip if you pull slow, but i like the stock 4 hole stems that came with mine.
Alot of time i just pull it off of the water pipe and use it to finish it off.

When i place my next order with planet vape i will get a turbo stem, a different gong, and hopefully a turbo shorty gong. Love the fact that there is alot of accessories.

OK funk here is my opinion fwiw. If I stick with the three areas you are concerned with I think you have an easy winner.
taste-solo
thriftiness-solo but INH isn't bad
coolness of vapor-solo but you can extend the air path on the INH to make it better.

Now if you want to add to the mix you have the first line of TET products so you know about there stealth and such. I find it hard to use the solo for stealth so the INH wins in that hands down. Loading and unloading on the go is easier in the INH. Battery life I don't think is an issue with either one. I recon the INH in looks to the TET products so if you are comfortable outside with that it should be about the same.

As far as ed's stem you will taste the wood and it is also very very hot for along period of time. I used it for a week and after a few burns I stopped. I have touched the glass stem and it hot but it warns you in a respect before a burn. it also cools off way faster.

If you have really specific questions other then your three areas feel free to ask here or in PM. Remember these are my opinions and experiences. Also the INH is no longer available and there is still some issues with the xp and they aren't even available at the moment to new buyers. They are busy trying to get all the warranty returns taken care of cause it was a colossal fail on releasing it to early. I am not even sure I think the xp, from reading, is better the the 04.

Ataxian, Are you a klutz or did you feel like breaking something:lol:

Thanks heaps Dreamerr. I think the Solo will be a clear winner for me to complement my T1 and future Cera. Stealth is not an issue as my TET products are nice and pocketable, though using the Solo in a cup with the stealth adapter might interest me. Does anyone have an opinion on these? Do you just push your straw over the stem? Does it seal OK? Are there any heat issues with a plastic straw?

Cheers
TF

Why would you get a turbo if you just basically said, as I read it, that the turbo has to much air flow hence going back to stock. Why not get in between the two and get the regular PVHES stem NOT TURBO as I originally suggested. Again this is if I am reading your post correctly.

Yeah i could have worded that better.
Basically the turbo works great for me with glass, or if im in a hurry. But if i want to take my time, star gaze etc at night before bed its a bit much.
Turbo is like drinking a big gulp, and the stock one is like drinking a milkshake. Perfer the milkshake, but i like big gulps too :)

So IDK maybe its just me but I have the PHVES turbo straight (not shorty) and being that I have to use the o-ring in order to hold my stems in better, the PHVES stems don't work well for me. Only simply because of the etching in the glass that goes inside the vape; it catches on my o-ring and puts tears in it. Also I feel that the PHVES stem heats up much faster than the Arizer diffuser...meaning I felt it was almost burning my lips after only 1 session with the PHVES and it took 2-3 sessions with the diffuser for me to feel the same amount of heat. Again, maybe its just me but I paid for 3 turbos with carrying tubes and paid shipping and still went back to using the original diffuser with a screen in it.

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to show this and as detailed as you did!! I may have to do this but will wait to see how the o-ring helps me that OF just sent. :D

Just curious, does the Solo cook product when lets say you hit it ? For myself I try to hold the rip in for 20-30 seconds and I then hit it again and do the same but some times thru my water tool the rip is much larger and it makes me cough and it might be a few mins before I can hit it successfully again without choking ,in the time that the unit is holding the temp on the stem, is product cooking or is it passive until you draw upon it? Do any of you pull the stem out of the unit in between rips or in the case of recovery if you coughed? what would the result be if you had a bowl set up and turned the unit on set the heat and forgot about it and the unit cycled thru and shut down ,would the product be spent and considered ABV?

Why don't you try holding in the vapor for just a few seconds...not 20-30. See how that affects you. You might be surprised that there's little difference in the result. JMO

Interesting...I was always under the belief that you had to hold in vapor longer than smoke as it took a bit longer to enter your system... Perhaps that is not the case? But I think anything longer than 8-10 seconds is unnecessary. Just my opinion.

I have forgotten a full bowl before with the Solo turned on. Very little had happened to my herb, but there was a tiny amount of vapor production due to the fact a little bit of conduction is unavoidable. I don't lose any vapor, however, because I put caps on the draw end of my stems while they are in the Solo . Any small amount of vapor that is created by conduction stays in my glass stem until I am ready to 'assimilate it'...'resistance is futile!'.

Hope this helps, ou812:tup:.

I usually don't hold my vapor in & I never held any smoke in & always get high so you do not need to hold it in at all.

I actually read somewhere (this was years ago so I can't cite it right now & was referring to smoke) that holding your hit in is not really beneficial as the increased uptake of THC is negligible at best & the amount of tars and other bad stuff deposited into your lungs increases exponentially the longer you hold it in. I doubt that really applies to vapor but I got in the habit of not holding in my smoke so when I gave up combustion, that habit stuck with me.

Snappo heres a bit on that and this is in no way of me doubting what works for you but I always thought the lung would process what ever is held captive there so why wouldnt holding it longer allow for more absorption of the medicine?.I am curious. In another time of my life trauma and death were enemies of mine and had to battle them,so some times I have had to administer drugs ,thru ENDO TRACHEAL tubes, pts had little vascularity left or they would blow due to a lot of factors and you had to admin as you would the same amount mg's as if you were going with IV access, leading me to believe that absorption in our quest w/THC would only be accomplished by holding the hit in longer.I do not know of a system in the cardio pulmonary circuit that would be able to cut off absorbing and assimilating what ever is held captive in those organs. .BUt its fun as hell to milk that badboy up and keep hitting it and then pull the stem and holy shit , the rush that follows,I swear the earth stands still..:o

WildChild that info helps tremendously,so in theory and in fact we are convection primarily and A small % will be lost while user is idle due to some conduction. I must admit I have oldtimerz disease and I know leaving a bowl unattended is going to happen. ................:peace:

I was going to ask that some point,my abv is always brown and I do almost all of it thru water and I must admit i most likely at times stress the heater and hit large and hard .Im figuring thats why my abv looks dark most of the time 5 on the heat thru water is nothing and sometime as others I'll cook it off in 6 and 7 and say good night and i find that works very well.I love vaping ,this whole thing is just great, why burn honestly,I cant see it and this unit is for me like a swiss army vape, just so utilitarian in both roles,w/mini tubes you can have it sooo nice.Bro's to think :myday: I burned loads, 100 lb at least over the decades (4) in my lungs and now this comes around, how sweet is that:love: ,now I can tell big pharma to go fug themselves and know I'm not killing myself w/poison and i can keep on medicating with out the worry of tearing up the lungs. That was getting to be an issue ! and damn this method TASTES the BEST IMO

I don't hold it in for more than a sec or two, if at all. Not necessary for me...does the job! Today's product to an old timer like me is 10 times more potent than back in the day. The beauty of vaping is that it takes material to the next level without the harmful garbage. You can dial in meds any way you want without having to blast your lungs away. I love the way we can now sip our meds, and enjoy the flavor at lower temps with only half a lung (not even that) and the deed is done. My big liquor drinking days are behind me in that I don't guzzle it down like a hog - I now sip the high octane stuff so that I enjoy the flavor and do it until I get the buzz I want. Vaping vs combustion/bonging is a no brainer for me, and I don't have to hold my breath to prove it. I feel that the Solo is the vape for afficionados who know how to make a little go a long way - in style and function:). Enjoy, my friend!
