I'm using high heat soft silicone tubing from: http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/116/121/=m62avy for my pax connection, but I also have a glass adapter inline so I don't think the vapor really makes contact with the tubing, it's on the outside, and the glass butts up to the mouthpiece.

I wonder if "food grade" would indicate the same thing? Can you verify the size, jamband? What ID?

food grade is good, not sure if that means it's also high heat resistant. Though the mp doesn't really get very hot, so I don't know if heat is an issue in this application.

here is the size of the blue tubing I got that fit the 14mm: 3/8" Id, 1/2" Od, 1/16" Wall
and the black tubing was larger, closer to the 18mm size: 5/8" Id, 3/4" Od, 1/16" Wall

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-2-I-D-Silicone-Hose-Temperature-Rated-500F-/300542812049? I use this, its flexible enough to fit over either 14mm or 18mm, so I just flip the adapter over for whatever I'm using. 18mm for the bubbler, or 14mm for the beaker...:science:

Here are the 1/2" and 3/8" 500degF high-temp silicone tubing I use with my Pax and water tools.

The 1/2" slips onto the Pax mouthpiece and the other end plugs directly into 18mm female or onto 18mm male joints. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064OF90W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The 3/8" is a snug fit over the Pax mouthpiece and the other end plugs directly into 14mm female or onto 14mm male joints. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064OF8SK/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

^ am I backwards? I thought the 1/2" was the smaller of the tubing and fit the 14mm ... it's still early so I could be off base.

I dunno the 1/2" fits the Pax mouthpiece (not totally snug but good enough) the other end of the 1/2" fits into the female 18mm joint on my bubblers.

EDIT: The 1/2" and 3/8" are I.D. measurements for the hi-temp tubing from Amazon.

EDIT2: The Pax MP with 1/2" tubing mating to 18mm female connection. The MP on bottom is the 3/8" tubing mating to 14mm female connection.

So when removing and cleaning the spring, a Qtip is an easy way to remove the spring once you get it started and easy to place back in.

Very cool! nice links, 500 degrees should be good  I did the same exact setup at first, I switched to a bong slide instead of an adapter it was easier to clear, 3 of my slides fit the the mouthpiece with a little wiggle room, test out some slides if any of you have em, its much easier to clear.

I know what you mean about clearing however still prefer the low-profile position of not using the extra glass adapters (Pax sits lower and less in my face), besides my glass adapters are all tied up lego'ing tall mouth pieces together, am too lazy to pull them from their current duty and re-assign them.

You're also not smoking a bong through your shower curtain. (or are you?:science:) meh I'm just saying... theres a reason they have different ratings, I read the vinyl tubing at home depot/lows off gasses at 120-125 degrees. I am certain that the mouthpiece heats up at least past 110, never checked for temps. For somthing that literally costs pennies (not to mention your hooking it up to a 200+ vaporizer and blazing expensive product through expensive glass) It seems like somthing to not take shortcuts on, especially when its a potential health risk and people use vaporizers as a healthy alternative to smoking. It doesnt bother me one bit if you use them, not trying to scare anyone, I had gone to lows when I first bought my pax to get some tubing, and after what I read, I was worried to even use food grade tubing. You certainly wont fall over dead mid session. 10 years ago I used to make those ridiculous water bottle bongs with a metal tip bic pen and I thought that was the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit haha probably took ten years off my life.

I dont suppose someone could tell me what page I could find a detailed step by step concerning removal of the spring? Im having trouble getting it to rotate. Do I force the first rung up over the plastic bit and then twist? Ive been browsing this forum all day to no avail...

Just joined the glass connections group. broke down and bought some medical tubing, 1/2" ID (as according to the folks of this page), and then bought an 18/18 male to male connector. Sadly.. now all I want to do is pax out of glass. It is like liquid gold.

I refuse to believe everybody is using a mflb brush handle to remove the spring lol. Somebody has to know another way of doing this.

If you don't have a dental pick as Welderboy suggested, make your own tool with a paper clip:

Straighten it out and bend one end into a little hook. Insert that between the spring and the tube and twist a little to snag the spring. Once it's hooked rotate the Pax clockwise and the spring just screws right out.

WARNING! Make sure you replace the spring before inserting your mouthpiece!

If you insert the mouthpiece without the spring in place, the only way to remove the mouthpiece is to open your Pax.

Never mind.

If you do forget to put the spring in (which I do all the time) just put the paperclip in the mp hole and you can pull it out.
