Underdog Log Vapes

HighlyEducatedScholar, I am very happy with it! It does get a little hot on the throat though. I went to a couple local smokeshops to see if I could find a nice reasonably priced compact beaker bottom or bubbler to run it through but to no avail...they did however have some really nice Sheldon Black and Mobius pieces but they were all far above my price range.

Any recommendations on pieces for my dog to run laps on?

Look into a company called Zion Precision Glass - nice pieces very fairly priced. I have a nice inline with a 10 arm down that hits like Mike Tyson for like 260.

I really like my VaporBrothers Mini Hydrator... only $90 right now. Only part I don't care for is the labeling, but it was too good of a deal to pass up. I knew I wasn't going to find a nice showerhead at this price, but the 14mm dewar that an UD stem drops right into makes up for it.

Here's the closeup of the diffuser..

and a video I posted a while back if you missed it...

How are your draw tubes set up?

It's just the standard glass stem with a piece of silicone at each end. A 14mm joint accepts a silicon sheathed stem, and makes an airtight seal. I could reduce the stack height by shortening or moving up the bottom (non-bowl) piece of silicon, but I like not having to worry about any glass clinking while removing my stem. I didn't in that video, but I usually pull the stem for a fast clear.

I have a 12 arm bubbler from gogopipes.com. It's china glass but for $70 i couldn't pass it up. The bubb diffuses quite nicely and makes holding in huge hits from a UD real smooooooth. I believe another member of the dog poud, darkrom, has the same piece as well so maybe he can chime in on his experience with it too.

I also have a 13" straight tube water pipe by Left Coast. I enjoy being able to switch between this piece and the 12 arm. the vapor is really easy to see while milking up the tube so i think thats a great advantage of using a straight tube for vaporizing.

In the end though, i don't think you can really go wrong with any choice you make. You'll quickly see that dogs love playing with water.

Hey Dogs hope you're all having a great weekend.. I'm enjoying a cold one, a foggy one and catching up on office work. Helluva Saturday night party eh?

@ Peloton - it's amazing how well the glass/silicone combo seals with a 14mm huh? How do you find the length of the glass tube, should it be shorter? Just wondering and wondering if I should be cutting shorter pieces of glass for people to use just like this?

Still loving my dogs. Just thought I would chime in! Been out on the deck working all week on refinishing it. Way more of a project then I ever imagined. Anyway nice to have the Underdog always on and ready for action. There is nothing worse then coming in to a long few hours of work to realize a auto-shutoff timer activated on a vaporizer and the thing powered down for safety. The dogs are always there. I just bump up the voltage on my power supply and wait about 1-2 minutes and they are ready to rock. Thanks Dave!

I remember seeing this piece a while back and really wanting to get one, but I forgot from where...thanks for the link again ! I think I may order this later today haha...when it says 19mm bowl they mean 18mm right? So the silicone stem fits in snugly but not the glass/silicone combo right? I tried my UD out the otherday on my friends 14mm Illadelph but it didn't fit, it only fit after we added a 14 to 18 carbon adapter(silicone goes into the 18mm end and fit perfectly).

Is the glass fairly thick? It looks VERY good in all other aspects. Very small, I basically just want a small piece to run the vape through. Still large enough to hold a good hit though. Tasteful color and decent diffusion glass work. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a dewar joint!

Thanks for your input as well Peloton I am also looking at that piece. Do you use the vapor bowl they give you with the UD?

Are you talking about the elbow whip adapter that comes with the VB piece? If so, no I don't. It almost fits a stem, but it's way easier to use it the way I do in the video since I have the joint style I do.

It does indeed make a great seal with a 14mm.. you should have seen my face when I realized that for the first time :D.

As for cutting stems shorter, yes that would be a small improvement to my setup to have a shorter stem. I can make my stem "shorter" (not stick out as much) by adjusting the lengths of silicon so it sits deeper in, but I like the protection of being fully covered in silicon. TBH I don't know if anyone else even uses their UD like I do. It might not be worth the trouble/complication factor of offering it on the site. Just my opinion though... good thing you do great custom work!

EDIT: After thinking about it, maybe a really short glass stem (under 2", maybe about 1.5"?) would be a nice offering. Reason being, it would basically be a 14mm GonG stem to complement the 18mm one you now offer.

Yes generally 18mm=18.8mm=19mm, but they all still vary a tiny bit.

Yes they mean 18mm, however, the thick silicone stem is just slightly too small to make the perfect airtight seal. i had to go to my LHS to pick up an 18/14 low profile reducer which made it work with my UD when i used my make shift WPB out of the glass part of the WPA for the MFLB.

In regards to the bubbler, yes i would say the glass is fairly thick. i posted a picture of this bubbler on reddit where someone said to 'be careful because their mouth piece snapped off' but i truly don't know how they were able to do this because its a pretty solid piece. must've had a lot of rough housing. i don't know the exact specifications of thickness but i'd say it could handle a slight accidental tip-over. there are small bubbles during the glass blowing that you can see at the joints and the mouth piece is slightly off center but barely noticeable. but hey, thats why it's only $70. figured i'd let you a few of it's imperfections so they won't be any surprises if you decided to pick it up.

i see that you have a MFLB so if you have the WPA for it you could also make this for your Dog so it can play with water

3K6fI.jpg

and here's a video of it in use with my UD

edit: when i took the video i didn't have the make shift WPB that i was talking about but as you can see it still kinda worked well

Thanks again HighlyEducatedScholar. I am fairly certain I will go with this piece, but it says on the website it's an 8 arm? But the picture looks to be 12...oh well haha. Is there a lot of splash? I was thinking about getting one of the other ash catchers they have on there and a j hook.

J Hook:

Potential ACs:
http://www.gogopipes.com/Glass_Ash_Catcher_Perk_Ash_Catcher_18_19mm.html
http://www.gogopipes.com/glass_ash_catcher_11_arm_tree_ash_catcher.html

Also, 7th Floor sells a "kit" now with the ash catcher, j hook, keck clip, and a glass adapter for DBV/SSV(and probably will also fit a UD) for ~70$ That's awesome!
http://silversurfervap.com/glass/wcfm/water-filter-cooler-moisturizer-92-straight-4-percolator.html
http://silversurfervap.com/glass/wcfm/water-filter-cooler-moisturizer-93-straight-6-percolator.html

Leaning towards the 6 perc with a 14mm and I think I'll just use the adapter with the silicone stem and it should be good.

Hello,
I have never used a "LOG" type vape, but own DBV, EQ, MFLB, and herbalaire. I prefer to use a bubbler or bong with my vapes, so it cools it down. Anyhow. I was just wondering if you all think I would like an Underdog? Thanks for the advice!

Welcome, Mole.

I use my UD almost exclusively with my bubbler. As most here can attest, these dogs love water. :brow:
