I tried sticking them in the one other 18mm adapter i have, it wasn't as tight as the cloud joint so they didnt really train.

I have got the one all the way in a couple times, but it is CRAZY tight and requires prayer before removing. Trust me, if one of these was train-able, the one should fit in by now. But it doesn't.

Some of the others I have that were extra ones ordered, barely fit 1/3 of the way in.

And sorry, but there is no way im using the cloud to train these things. I thought about buying another adapter but I already spent $20 extra on the 4 pack of elbs that dont fit, so I don't want to have to spend another $20 to train them. And I know as soon as I order it, I will get an email saying the new old elbs are in
I have 10 "fat" ELBs, too. Impossible to "train". They all require much manipulation to insert/remove. The only way that I can get them in all the way without the glass internals of the Cloud getting pushed down further into the Cloud involves tipping the unit 45 degrees, balancing it with my arm while one hand supports the glass from underneath while the other hand forced the ELB in from the top.

But that was then.

I ordered some ELBs from VXL last week and they are the old fashioned "skinny" variety and work sooooooooooo much better than the fatties.

If you have fat ELBs, do yourself a favor and just buy some new ones from the website. You'll be glad you did. I sure am.

I did that when I ordered. I'm leaving it up to them to replace them since it is no fault of min. It's not the $$, its the principal. I am getting by with my one decent elb (still only 2/3's in comfortably). I figure it's probably a crap shoot if I order more elbs. There's a chance I get 4 that fit, or I get 4 more un-usable tight ones. Gonna send them another email now.

Great Scott!
So I had a big scare today. My cloud wasn't hitting the same but of course it could all be perception, so I figure something is wrong, then I noticed I filled my HydraTree a little bit higher than normal and heard more water than normal but it wasn't leaking. So I took a rip, check the joint, everything was cool. Checked the glass. Everything cool. So then I say, ok maybe it's a dirty ELB let me grab a brand new one out of the bag. I do, and use it. It's a bit better. As I'm removing it, i heard a cracking. I'm like, oh shit, it's my tube. Oh shit. Oh shit. But as I'm taking it out, I notice I can't get the ELB out.

Look what happened.

photoyvq.jpg

This was a completely new ELB. Oh well. LOL. Still love my Cloud.

Edit: Oh man, I just thought about it. If the entire top ripped off, I'd have to send it in for warranty. Thank God it didn't :-). Holy crap! Wow, what a scare! There would be no way for me to remove the ELB from the joint without the top.

No, time to relax here. And thats coming from the king of panic  Even if the top ripped off 100%, you could stick a knife or poker or something in and press up against the screen and slide it out most likely. I'd imagine you'd only need to move it 2mm out or so and then could pull it out with pliers without even touching the glass part with them.

Nice pics man. So the cloud can fit that piece no problem. I was wondering about that. Does it fit the penta disk as well?

Thx

The penta disc is definitely too short for the cloud, its just not comfortable hitting it that close haha, you need a 45 degree adapter and even then i'd rather use the hydratube. The stereo is pretty much perfect for it though as you can see :D

I dunno  I had 10 "fatty" Elbs. I ran them into a vapor hose adapter, $11, they "snapped" into place and have worked perfectly in the Cloud ever since. I suggest a little lube to avoid the carnage that I created since I did destroy one in the process :) Almost anything could be used as a die . . :hmm:

elbsq.jpg

The heat might have helped as well since after snapping in I gave them an hour dwell time on a maxed Cloud (I was also burning off smell at the time)

But this should at least help get you by until you get regulars :peace:

Edited to Add: Please don't train ELBs in your Cloud, its a bad idea.

I have one like the 1 sitting on top there. I think it's from my Eclipse H20 kit. But it would require some INSANE squeezing and bending to get it in there. Did you have to jam the shit out of it? Might have to try to jam one in there. Not really losing anything if I fuck it up

JDSupreme,
I desperately need ELBs that fit!! As of last week, still no word on them yet. Sigh.

I want to get rid of this damn nervous feeling every time I pull an ELB out!! Out of the 6 that I have, only one comfortably fits in enough to at least allow the HT to be properly seated. And I tried using it with my bubbler the other day and because it sticks out so much, it pulled the cap off the elb when I went to clear it and spilled all the contents down the inside of the tree lol

Serious #firstworldproblems
Stop being afraid to push it in. I know everyone says don't do that but how else are they going to loosen? I had to jam mine in when I first got them and had to use the epik tool to get them out. Now I don't even use that tool anymore as I can just easily remove it with my fingers. I think people are scaring people a little to much into thinking that if you push even with the slightest force that you will break your unit, which IMHO isn't true.

Vapor Sloth
It took a little force, no doubt but the ELBs are stronger than you think, and when the ELB finally capitulated it "snapped" into place and bothered me no more. A little veggie oil might help a lot ;)

Edit: But you shouldn't have to bend, fold, spindle, or mutilate :D the ELB to get it in there. If you do, the ID is too small, find something else to use as a die. Don't do any of this on your Cloud. That glass joint can be moved up or down a smidgen with less pressure than you might think, especially when its hot :2c:

I've pushed the one in all the way, but the others WILL NOT go all the way in. I'm not exaggerating, I must have the tightest elbs out there. And again, I shouldn't have to put this glass joint through ANY stress if I had elbs that fit. And the problem is not really getting it in all the way, its having to put SERIOUS pressure to remove it. I know these are tough, but im certainly not risking it over something that I should not have to be doing. Like I said, it still works great with the elb halfway in so it's not like I can't use my cloud because of it, I just can't use it with my other glass, which really sucks IMO.

Ive had my one halfway decent elb all the way in about 6 times, and it is barely any different than when I started. It still only fits in 2/3-3/4 comfortably, which is where it will stay for the time being

The real bottom line is, this thing is so badass, and until I get a backup Cloud, I refuse to remotely put myself in a situation that I would have to be without it for a few days if it broke.

JDSupreme,
Yea then IDK what you should do. Once again I just think people are being just a little to careful when inserting or taking the elbows out.

Here is a vid of me hitting my cloud the day I got it and you can tell when I put the elbows in that they are really really tough. In 2:50 and 4:20ish :) in the vid you can see a really tight elbow.

i think i overmedicated.
I've grown to enjoy the ticking noise! Maybe it's cause I've associated the "tick-tick-tick" with being completely vaked. It's like there's little elves inside my cloud hammering out computer code to ensure I receive proper vapor delivery.:haw:

Does anyone else find it soothing or have I over-medicated again?

They are little monkeys, juicing up your vapor with their THC-Ray Guns, the only explanation IMO :D

Okay you can call me a whiner if you like, but my Cloud came today and I was seriously underwhelmed. I got the two pieces wrapped in pink foam in a large corrugated cardboard box with one piece of printed instructions. This is no way no market a five hundred dollar piece! I also didn't get the extra ELBs for the High Times coupon. I didn't even try it yet as I'm do disgusted with the presentation. Consider the way the Pax comes packed for half the price. It says to me that the company really doesn't care about the product and that doesn't bode well for after sales service. They'll never be able to sell them in stores like this that is for sure. I'm not sure why this bugs me so much but it does. I'm feeling much more love towards my EQ and ViCape right now and both for less money, the EQ for less than half as much. If. It's not head and shoulders above those two when I start using it, it's going up for sale in a real hurry. Okay. I'm done now .

I like it, it lets me know my Cloud is on, and heating. I have become used to hearing it, so when the timer kicks off, and it goes silent, it grabs my attention. I suppose if you were trying to be stealthy about it, that could be a down side to the tick, but I like it myself. :haw:

Please use our support page and log a ticket, we will send out the ELBs immediately. Other than being disgusted with the packaging, why don't you try your Cloud before making up your mind? It is the performance of the Cloud you are after correct? We made a decision to go without the fancy packaging as our margins are slim and that would add quite a bit of costs to an already expensive machine.

We made the mistake of giving out the price of our unit before we understood the cost of manufacturing. We haven't raised our prices and decided to figure out how to lower our costs than charging our customers more. If you are still upset, just send it back to us, we will refund you and your shipping costs.

For people with ELB issues, log a support ticket and we will take care of you.

personally, to me it was more important for the unit to be safely packaged for shipping, than for it to be in a fancy box that I would likely throw away. Function is what I am after. Sorry to see that your first impression is souring your experience. I say plug her in, let it heat for a round, then give it a go...then make your mind up if you like it... ;)
