Discontinued VRIPtech Heating Wand

Right on SM the mic set up is very cool! You absolutely can squeeze more heat from the wand with a warm up in the stand without needing to adjust anything on the board. What's more by using the stand to get it to heat up a little extra by insulation factor instead of extra juice to the element you'll have the extra heat at the most important point in the extraction, the heat-up/prime, and then the heat will dissipate to the regular setting once the vapor starts to flow without any needed adjustments being made. For those that like the boost to get it going extra fast or concentrates or just like a little extra heat the stand or using a mug with the wand inverted in it is a real effective and low tech approach that works.

And of course the "extra time in the oven" method works great --- eventually you'll be able to gauge by the grind of the herb how moist it is and by the type of herb have an idea of oil content which will give you an idea of how long an ideal heat up/prime will be to get you going without as long or as many primer draw(s). Like I love to say: "We know it works, but we're still doing A LOT of tesing!"

Hey Shadow (or anybody else) -- I'm wondering if you can comment on the Steinel HG 2000 hand-held heat gun for use with your upper intake. The unit is ergonomically similar to the Aoyue hand-held you talked about a few pages ago, but of course this one is more expensive but has that Steinel quality. The temperature is continuously variable (good) but the airflow isn't -- it's set at 14.8 CFM. How is this airflow for vaping? Thanks!!

RatM22 no worries just got to vriptech.com and the order page and the VHW catalogue and towards the bottom you'll find the heating element replacment service or just follow the link below:

http://www.vriptech.com/Merchant2/m...e_Code=VR&Product_Code=VHWH&Category_Code=VHW

You'll need to remove the glass cover first so you can send back just the heater and we'll swap out the element and send it back --- hit us up @ info@vriptech.com and we'll get you an install doc for tips on reinstallation of the wand cover (must be very careful).

I mailed the wand out today. Hope it gets repaired soon!

Zmurder you're right about the Steinel quality and the HG2000 is definitely smaller, but the air flow is the problem --- the President of Steinel NA thought for sure we'd be stoked on the 2000 when it was first made available too! I personally, prefer no air-assist at all and just taking the time to prime the flow to enjoy the least oxidized and highest concentration (but still clean!) vapor possible ala the VHW, but the HG2510 and HG2310 models from Steinel have an ultra low air flow setting of 3.6 cfm that is a pretty ideal balancing of interests for vapor if you don't want to work as hard or be as patient as required for the VHW AND you still want the least oxideized and highest concentration possible. Both are the standard heat gun size though which is a bit burly for our application. And these models work absolutely GREAT on the lowest airflow setting with our VALLOON unit which gives you the all glass extraction chamber and sequential venturi enhanced extractions as well as the capability to moisture condition/ice cool by way of a water tool of both the Vrip HG and VHW systems, but the ritual and more passive use of a balloon capture system --- not my personal favorite ritual but nice if you've got the vapor bar set-up and a bunch of lungs to fill and don't want to trust your heady glasswares wares to potential butter or stone-fingered types you know?

Ratm22 we'll keep an eye out for the repair and get it to the tech for the fastest turn around possible --- he is in town and around next couple of weeks is the good news so shouldn't be any delays waiting on the tech!

Shadow thanks for the response. I'm thinking about getting a HG2510 now. When will your VALLOON be back on the market and available?

Valloons are available again although I know there is a current back order. Hopefully we'll get a run completed in the next week and could ship early the following week. Use with the VCB for Elephant Gun of Vapor effect or with the Valloon for the balloon ritual but with more options and better flavor and GLASS!

When is the new laser cut Pelican cases coming, for a Valloon, VWT and Steinel? ;-) hehe long-overdue product request from me, I've been paranoid about breaking my coveted Valloon all these years...

Be great to see a few more spots filled on these old cases like the new layout, slot for bowl etc. and how about a rectangle space for tool storage or a small Vriptech branded "tackle box"? :-D

Can't wait to see what you're cooking up with ThermoVape mate, you've both picked great partners in each other - the build quality and considered design from both teams will be a great synergy. Love both of your product lines as my go-to tools, Vriptech for 10 years now and today is Day 1 of my love affair with the ThermoVape Alpha UltraLite.

So now - a small hand-held sherlock please Mark :-)

Good shit VapeHead! We're visiting with the foam masters again shortly and will take up the Valloon adapted version for the Pelican 1500 for sure. Hopefully some of the tooling they already have charged us for will be applicable!

Yeah bro the TV is rocking for sure with the Vrip Collab adaptors. I was just using the ThermoVape with GonG adaptor to a BuB on the drive home from the mountains last night! I still can't believe I can get that quality of vapor in such a small form and function...those guys are on a different level from anyone else making portable vapor if you look close and trying one side by side will close the deal and affect the conviction --- just good ole' American ingenuity and manufacturing quality without the cost of quality materials having bearing at its best!

After about a month of use, I think I can confidently say this is the best vaporizer I've ever used. I visited my brother and used his Volcano, and while it is an amazing vaporizer that I would love to call my own, I was still longing for the thick and tasty vapor I get from my wand. It may not be the most durable or convenient vaporizer, but I don't think I could be a bigger fan.

I know that I'm just repeating what has been said before. For purity of vapor, I have a hard time believing it gets any better.

Also great and responsive customer support.

Hope you enjoy it! If I had a Volcano, all of my vaping needs would be met forever.

This biggest issue I had with using vaporizers was abandoning the smoking ritual and using glass. I couldn't leave my 2011bc or EFS donut sit around unused for too long without feeling guilty. I love using both of those tubes with my wand. It definitely is not a social vaporizer though. The consistency and durability of the Volcano make it tough to match in a group setting. The vapor quality is top of the line with the Volcano, but definitely lacks that thick volume and rich flavor that I get using my tubes and wand.

I found myself growing bored with the Volcano after a while. Definitely a personal thing. If I could have a Volcano for group settings and my wand for solo time, I'd be set. You're in for a good time mate.

Appreciate the props guys just want to add that for the convenience of the balloon delivery our third utility patent that was issued recently now allows us to once again sell our Valloon without fear of an infringement claim from Volcano as long as it is used with a heat tool that is multi-functional, i.e. Steinel 2510 or similar. There is some copy on the site we need to take down that still sounds like we are not selling it, but hte Valloon catalogue is up and functional and we are taking orders and shipping. We originally sold the Valloon with an o-ring that allowed you to adapt it to the Volcano base so that if you already had one you could at least benefit a sequential venturi extraction chamber and valve both made of glass, as well as, the ability to moisture condition/ice cool by running the vapor through a tube, but we're not selling it with that o-ring anymore due to Storz and Bickel being so unresponsive and uncooperative when we offered to license their patent until ours was granted so we could keep selling it after they fired a cease and desist at us not realizing we had filed our own patent. I guess they figured we wouldn't get it....it was a long painful prosecution but we GOT IT!

The Valloon uses a manually operated valve assembly so a little more work than using the Volcano assembly, but it's sure cool to have a balloon hanging off the front of a water tool whereas the water essentially becomes the valve to prevent the vapor from running out of the balloon as well as serving it's usual function. It's not the density of flavor you can get with the wand and a nice piece for sure, but when you've got multiple heads and lungs to take care of it's a nice balance that still includes glass surfaces and a water tool option---you can fill a two to three foot balloon and have plenty of captured vapor for a couple rounds with three or four sets of lungs and the better extraction, thermo and polarity advantages of glass, and water tool compatibility really serve you up balloon capture ritual without the Lava Throat. Good call Danoobs---we always run the wand with 2-3 sets of lungs, but if we're getting into the 4-5 range the Valloon comes out to hold everyone over until they get their round on the PerK with the VHW. We'll get a Valloon specific thread started here eventually.

Just getting up from one of the soundest sleeps I've had in a LONG, LONG time after melting some Sour Tsunami essential distillate oil over some Purple Lotus Master last night and then an oral dab followed by some yogurt at the end of a long day and too much time behind the computer. And to think there are those that say the wand doesn't work well for concentrates....sure works well with the holiest of concentrates and every other form of concentrated medicine (including organic bee propolis) I've ever used it with. Patience = Concentrated Melt for Concentrated Flow. Does it take longer than a flame or a glowing nail...YUP...does it taste better and deliver WAY MORE...YUP...without a doubt.

For maximum efficiency with concentrates by themselves, no flower material to drip it on, we have arrived at 3mm glass beads loaded in the bowl first as the ideal after testing with 1mm - 6mm beads. The beads are re-usable and easily cleaned by just soaking them in alcohol after using them. We don't sell them, but have sourced them through ChemGlass in BoroSilicate (Pyrex) and am told there are a number of soft glass suppliers for less expensive ones that work great too---just probably won't last as long as Pyrex.

After 2 weeks of daily use I had to clean the screen from both sides; therefor getting it out of the VCB lower bowl, which was quite hard. After cleaning it, I wasn't able to put the screen back as sturdy as it was before cleaning. Now the screen dangles around in the bowl; it sometimes even flips around when I want to stir the bowl filling.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there some king of trick I'm not getting?

I assume you are trying to put the screen in the top most position. I found that happened as well. It is kind of a common problem. If you push the screen down further then you are there is a little ridge that the screen will get suck in. This will double the size of the bowl though. Personally, I wanted a larger size bowl so it was a bonus for me. The ridge is just below the orange O-ring.

If you don't want to push it down further, then I suggest getting is resonated again. The resin helps the screen stick in place.

I managed to put it below the orange ring. For some reason I thought it was above the ring before I got it out. But now it is really sturdy again and doesn't move when I stir my bowl filling up.

Thanks for your post Slightly.

Sorry for the screen jiujitsu Benny!!! It's one of the challenges of doing what we're doing in glass, but with some technique and or "seasoning" you can get it to stick in the top position if that's where you want to run it. I usuallly run it in the lower position myself and just push it up as much as possible, but still below the o-ring groove---even make it slightly convex in the middle or at least flattened out a bit and this works great you're just packing bigger bowls and will stir a couple of times to fully dry it out. If you go through this thread there is quite a bit of discussion on screen position and technique...feel free to hit us up at info@vriptech.com too and we'll get you sorted and send some extra screens if needed. Also, there should have been one extra stainless screen in the packaging. Thanks for the back up SM!

Got myself an All-GonG alternative

vripallgong.jpg

works pretty well so far - just have to clean the down stem in my bong a bit more often cause some stuff falls through.
And I have to build little weed pyramides to get a proper filling due to the fact that the glass screen is above the orange ring. Which isn't that bad cause that gets the filling closer to the heat-element which seems to make it hit even harder.

Nice Benny! I bet having some of the down stem blocked by the bottom of the glass screen creates a bit more resistance which can be good for pacing the draw and getting more apparent heat too. I've used the honeycomb glass screens with the Vrip bowls for an all glass option...works great just a bit clumsy when you have to unpack it/repack it. Some of our more discerning customers go this route though for sure. You also get some heat building up on the glass screen beyond what it does with the stainless screen which works well for getting the bottom of the bowl to vaporize without stirring.

Right on Benny I'll forward the link! So besides the load carcass particles slipping through you're stoked though heh? I wish the honeycomb screens where also available with the stem anchor like the ones you're using they would work alot better at preventing LC particles from slipping through and not get flipped when you stir!

Oh too bad the timing did not work out. I will be swinging through in July I believe. Maybe I will stop and say hello. Are you a photographer by trade or just hobby? What type of equipment are you shooting with? You know camera, lights, all that good stuff. I am a photographer for my main job so I love to talk about that kind of stuff. Any tips or tricks you have learned photographing the Vripttech Products.

Whoa - sorry for the extreme reply lag there Slightly Medicate (was away + missed this one). Photography is just another one of my pursuits I suppose, not my full-time gig, though it has been lucrative on occasion. I especially enjoy my artistic endeavors as I've spent much time in engineering and tech. Reflective and transparent subjects, such as glass, sure present their own unique challenges! It's all about the lighting imho. We should save that convo for off-line and/or in person as I don't want to OT/tangent the thread (thx to everyone for their indulgence).

Now... back on topic :)
