OK, so I decided to take the new cart and go take advantage of the break in the rain to see how well it works in the garden. Lots of hungry birds and our two cats picking their way carefully around to keep me company. It works great there, I'm happy to report. At least as good as inside, probably better. More testing is needed. I opened it up out there to check an interesting collection of condensed vapors (I think) at the top of the new cap (base of the poker) and in the sun clearly saw the base of the cart so I came in and took the following:

This picture posting is clearly getting out of hand, but this is just so cool and it's the only way to show you.....

Anyway, you'll note the tapered wall at the bottom where the concentrate isn't concentrating any more? You can see the floor plate has shifted (this is a prototype remember....), it still works just fine. In fact very well, who knows maybe this is not a shift by mishap but a shift of design? No matter, the fun bit is in the gap, there at "11 o'clock" you can see the end of the heater coil on it's form. What you see on top of the form is, I think, the last bit of the wire on it's way to the connection to the wall. Just out of view is a sleeve of the same porous ceramic as the floor (and about as thick) that also serves to hold the concentrate so it can evaporate away with heat.

So, for you guys that have never seen it, at least now you've seen a photo of what you've never seen. If you believe I didn't just Photoshop the photo, of course......

Anyway, time to top this puppy up with a touch more wax this time I'm thinking....then back to the salt mines.

It looks like 16 days ago is the first mention of a windowless rev in the works. If they ship it at the end of next week it will be 23 days from mentioning it to shipping it.

ill be buying a windowless 6v rev when thats comes out, might get the LV version with the omi adapter too... then there is the otehr accessories i want to buy already too!

weedemon,
That club called up and said they found my Omicron+ LV Rev! I've got nothing to load into it, but at least I have my vapes back.

Exciting news about the windowless, I hope they offer some sort of discounted price for those who bought the Rev and are being driven mad by the oil-seeping door. Not to give the impression that TV's pricing isn't very fair for an innovative, US made vape, which it always seem to be.

Dude that is awesome!!! U gotta try and see if they know what it is. If they don't, school them. maybe let em take a rip or two :)

And ya, I would definitely pick up a windowless rev as a standalone(no batts, switch, case, charger, etc.) if the price is right.

i actually new the new top loading Rev was coming and still ordered the reg Rev. is the leakage really that bad?

It doesn't leak per se. It's just that the capilary effect between the walls of the cartridge means that almost inevitably you will get a stcky window at some point. The sticky window makes it tough to put in your pocket IME, so the new cart is a welcome innovation. Loading is easier with the window in my opinion, but the trade-off is the possible external goo that can be troublesome at times.

thanks stu. i was thinking of trying to just load through the top anyway so that may cut down on any residual oil gunking up the window.

Yes, that will help. As long as you can keep the concentrate from getting up on the walls of the cart, you should be fine. But you still need to separate the two parts of the chamber when you load, so any oil between the walls could potentially coat the window. I stopped top loading when I realized that my technique would end up in a little window dressing no matter what, and it's easier for me to use the window.

I'm anxious to try the windowless version, though. I'd gladly load through the top to not have to worry about a sticky window.

Incredible! You all sure know how to turn out a new idea. I'm itching to pull the trigger on this, but did I hear mention that the AVA atomizers are also getting a redesign? I might hold off if they are coming soon, as I want to add e-cig capabilities to my setup as well. Again, thank you Team ThermoVape for showing such dedication to your customers!

Hey, let's clear this up right now. Nobody promised anyone anything. I asked what you thought your schedule was, you told me, I asked if I could relate that, you gave permission.....no promises. Just taking you at your word(s). I just built in a little margin for (to be expected) tweaks, production, inspections, engraving, plating and those other niddling issues that can come up and estimated end of next week, knowing full well bad news might delay that. Being as how it was two days ago and I was holding the one and only prototype (which I took home with me) I'm seriously impressed. This means the other prototypes being made at the time got tested as the pilot run was being machined, etched (mine is not of course), inspected, plated and photographed all in that period. That's not 'fast turn around' that's 'turn around that makes you so dizzy spinning around you might throw up' if you asked me.

I guess folks already know what I think of the smaller batteries, they're sure to be popular with guys toting their gear around with them. I find the middle one to be great fitting in both hand and pocket. Useful battery life seems over 50 very strong hits, IMO plenty for reasonable uses. That's what, half a gram of oil? And that little guy kinda grows on you, but it's almost to the point of needing a pocket clip like a ball point pen, it keeps turning sideways in the bottom of my pocket.....

Only one more day this week for you, Tim, then church and some well earned rest. Got to be our best on Monday you know......folks are counting on you. See you in a few days, I want to pick up the final version and chat a bit?

Thanks again for all you do, and the way you do it. It doesn't always happen this way you know....

OK, I hope this doesn't get me in more trouble, there's another option out there. The design includes using the new top (with the poker) on top of the old window cart. You need both halves of the old cart (to seal the window), but you can stack the new self loading top under the mouthpiece (and since it contains it's own restriction you can use the shorter mouthpiece to recover some of the added length). The poker won't stick as far down of course but it will self load and take charges from the top (leave the window where it is). I haven't tested this yet, I'm not sure how much concentrate will collect there as the vapors are cooled (neat feature, BTW, it really does work in 'side by side' tests). The poker is designed to scrape the walls down but if it will self feed from there when the heat comes I don't know.

This allows for 'the best of both worlds' in that you can load through the door and use it to watch melt in (both things I like) and still have the benefits of the new top (or at least most of them, depending on how well self feeding the residual works). Those guys that hate the window can now leave it closed between cleanings. Or will be able to.....

Please don't beat 'em up right off with requests for a new top part to go on your current window cart right away guys? Let us check it out first for you? There are other guys out there Beta testing for TV (I've never met them for the obvious reasons, but I saw one once.....), so I suspect there'll be no unnecessary delays in release. If I was a betting man I'd be playing 'real soon' I think.
