Non-drop solution to red eyes?

Sup guys,

I suffer from red-eyes while vaked quite badly, its very noticable. I often use redness reducing eye drops but am woried about the side effects of all those chemicals in my eyes. I had read that the preservatives in Visene are not good for you.

Does anyone know a safer alternative? Or anyone that could shed light on this?

I would just try some moisturizing drops or if someone makes an issue blame it on blood pressure medication or something of the like.

The problem with Visine and most other "red eye" drops is that they contain a vaso constrictor. This is fine if you only using them once in awhile. If you used the drops constantly, you can develop a tolerance and get a re-bound effect where your eyes are red regardless of being vaked or not. Kind of like what happens if you become addicted to nasal sprays...stop using them and you get rebound congestion that is way worse than the original congestion.

Thanks for the tip, this idea had occured to me because I wear contacts as well and I do know there are certain eye drops that are perfectly fine for your eyes with daily use. I wonder if they'll do anything for redness though... I will report back!

i heard the cold spoons do the trick...

i would stay away from any eye drop to be used constantly. it surely cant be good for your eyes over time.

I used to have the problem of red eyes until i gained just a bit more of a tolerance. i dont really want to sggest that you increase your herbal consumption, just letting you know what happened to my red eyes... I vaped them away!

There aren't any drops for redness that you are supposed to use with contacts in. You should always have contacts out when putting in redness relief eye drops.

I use these drops on a semi regular basis, probably more than I should. But I haven't gotten dependent on them at all and they still work like the first time I used em!

THC is a vasodialotor which makes blood vessels expand slightly.
At least that's what Siri told me.

I think you could put drops in all day to no effect on that. Unless some drops can inhibit the natural way your eyes react to "the pot", which cannot be good for eyes/body. Also if you add coughing into the mix while vaping/ combusting, you are more apt to have the "red eye" look. I think if you're a hold in your hit till you cough it out kinda person you could actually break, rupture, cause more vessels to get larger, etc,. Probably some truth, possible myth, or downright personal-thoughtedness to the above, But it does sound good to me and my slits for eyes right now :ko:

most eye-droppers for red eyes say you can apply up to 3 times a day safely

I've heard visine is shrinking the blood shots in the eye.. which results in increased inner eye pressure which may lead to GLaucoma.. Better try to drip cucumber juice or some homeopatic drops .

have you gone longer periods without eyedrops?
I've never used eyedrops(well not for red eyes at least, only as a kid at the eyedoctor and I only remember it stung really bad), and I almost never get red eyes anymore, only a bit glassy
in the beginning I would get red eyes almost every time, but over time that just decreased, now I only get red eyes if I'm really stoned and it's night and it's more an indica-effect(don't know why but indica's seem to give me more red eye than sativa, I don't have indica's often tough since I like sativa's way better)

most of my friends also don't get red eyes anymore, and I know no one who uses eyedrops for red eyes(eyedrop-use among stoners is very uncommon here)

I don't have much experience with eye drops, but there was this one time back in High School when a kid brought these drops made by Rohto to class and I tried them. Woah! Did they ever make my eyes burn for just a short moment before making them whiter than a of sheet computer paper... I have used clear eyes once or twice since and they didn't even compare to the effectiveness of those Rohto drops, but I'm not a big fan of making my eyes burn... so I just embrace the redness.

+1 for Rohto V. You want to get the green one called "Cool." It will feel like a burst of icy wind in your eye when you first drop some in, but like Vapor Nation said they will incredibly well. I personally used Rohto daily for years and I don't recommend using them for that long. Your eyes will become dependent on them and when you stop, they will be redder than the devils dick for a week or two. Once that "withdrawal" period is over your eyes will stop getting so red when you vape. Drinking water will help as well.

What was the question, again?
I've never heard of the cold spoon idea. Though it makes sense, cold constricting the blood vessels. Sounds relatively safe as well. How long does it last, though?

My eyes don't get very red, so I only use drops occasionally. I wouldn't mind cutting them out entirely...

sometimes being dehydrated can make your eyes red too, so stay hydrated.

Rohtos do work well, and burn at first, keep in mind they have menthol in them, and i have no idea what that does to your eyes. I used to use the green cap Rohtos and they work well but i wouldnt use them now. its not worth it IMO

Its tough because all eyedrops designed for redness relief that actually work have this chemical in them. Naphazoline hydrochloride. Its a powder that is mixed with water and the inactive ingredients to make eyedrops. Its the amount of that ingredient plus whatever inactive ingredients are chosen like glycerin, boric acid, menthol in Rhotos case, that determine how the drops perform compared to eachother. Sadly your eyes to build tolerance and reliance on the active ingredient, so I would not use drops that contain it every day. There are eyedrops by bauch and laumb that are all just ingredients that natural occor in your eyes, so you can apply them as much as you want, but they dont really remove redness.

So its safe to say you need to constrict your eyes blood vessels to remove the redness. You can do this the artificial way using eyedrops like Visine, Clear Eyes, Rhotos, sand most all eyedrops specifically for redness relief. Or you can do it the natural way with cold spoons, lots of water, and maybe by not taking huge hits that are gonna bust your lungs and make your eyes pop out of your head. :)

heres a new perspective; dont use drops and when your eyes are red go to places like a swimming pool where its normal to have red eyes.

:D :D :D that made me laugh

guess we should all put on our swimming gear!

I seem to never get red eye anymore.. I used to a lot, and I still do when I combust from time to time, but vaping seems to just make my eyes super glazed over. I like using Rohto sometimes after I combust, but I still haven't gotten used to the burning. Feels great afterwards though.

id love for a solution to the dryness and redness that comes with vaping with contacts. It seems the OTC drops that are sold are either for red eyes or for contact refreshing, not for both!

I've recently kinda gave up on my contacts. I used to wear them 90% of the time but now that I vape a lot (esp. oil lately) I have just been wearing my glasses all day. So much easier. Contacts fucking suck.

take smaller hits and also attempt to cough less....if u ever looked in the mirror after a coughing fit(non MJ related) you will see how much blood rushes to your eyes from the act of coughing itself. :ko:
