XMAX Starry 4, Portable Vaporizer

Having an OVEN that goes over 450f, in a TINY device means it’s going to get HOT!!!

Even my IQ2, which costs almost 3x as much, gets HOT. The silicone sleeve helps a bit.
If you like “conduction” style, then buy a SB Mighty, also close to 3x the cost, but the large size, plastic cooling fins, means it runs much COOLER, though it’s not tiny, nor fits in your pocket.

For $99, and a nice and HOT OVEN, compromises were made to fit in a tiny sized device, if it were made with more insulation, it would be much BIGGER, like a Mighty.

Fortunately, in my use case, I don’t run my Starry4 in back to back sessions. I use the 6 minute timer, go from 375f to 420f…… then I dump the load, and leave the top off to COOL for awhile….

Think how many complaints there would be if the device didn’t get HOT ENOUGH!
Physics folks….

their are other vaps in 99 dollar range i think that perform better- ie. potv one. potv v3 pro for examples. i really want this unit to be better than this but i guess i am the only one disappointed with it like i was with the starry 3

Sell yours, and use those…. :)

Just to add, I never bought the V3 Pro, but there were some complaints that it didn’t get hot enough, I do own the Roffu, it can get pretty warm, but you CANNOT compare HEAT between CONVECTION devices (like those two) with CONDUCTION devices like the Starry4, IQ2, Mighty, etc. Most convection devices are designed primarily to use “in demand mode”, you are only activating the heater for your draw, then it’s off. The OVENS in conduction devices are left on for the duration of the timer session, so the heat builds up.

I can’t speak for POTV stuff, never appealed to me, not sure they reach the temps of the Starry4, but they do look much larger, thus more insulation.

nice, thanks, that was so helpful :doh:but i'll make my own decision.
you know there are others here that think it's a hot rod too. i thought this is a starry4 sub and my comments were directed to my personal experience with it. why that makes others defensive unless they work for their company. everything i said is an honest experience and don't know why i am called out for it.

Yes, but I explained the physics already, the Starry4 is actually thinner then the more expensive IQ2, where do you think the heat will go in an oven that goes over 450f? Also many newbies don’t understand the basic differences between a CONVECTION versus CONDUCTION devices.

First of all I don’t see how I was being defensive in explaining the reasons why the device gets hot. And I don’t work for the company, I bought this device because it’s CHEAP enough to give it a try, as I like the tiny size. Is it better then my more expensive IQ2, no. But I didn’t expect it to be.

I’m SORRY I bothered to reply to your post, wasting my time, but since you have mentioned your dislike for your purchase I thought I’d address it. So NO, you are not a “victim”, your choices seem obvious to me…..

professor physics, the non-victim here, what you said to my comments have already been related to me by others, you did not enlighten me. in fact, you tried to talk down to me. yeah telling me to sell my vap if i did not like it and then later editing to explain things was not helpful.. it was sarcastic and unkind. i'm a big, old girl and know when being talked down too.
plse find someone else to help. sorry if i offended you by talking in a neg way about your love for the starry 4. if i had a tm2 i would never use the starry 4.

I explained the reasons before my edit, you sure like to play victim don’t you? (Sarcastic.. unkind..talked down to…)
The TM2 is CONVECTION (yes I own one), once again showing your ignorance of the technology, sorry I know you don’t like being ENLIGHTENED!

I stand by my advice, instead of continuing to post on how this relatively cheap Chinese device does not fit your needs, give it away or sell it! Attacking me for taking my time to be logical with with you is not a good look. But please go on…..

don't know if i will spend 30 dollars more to fix the mouthpiece heat issue and another 10 to 20 dollars more for a unit case insulate wrap cover to fix the shell heat issue. seems excessive money for a newly realest vaporizer. why not buy a more advanced $150 vaporizer instead that doesn't have those heat problems, just saying?
I had already had those pieces so I didn't need to purchase them 🤷

The Roffu in session mode gets hot AF too.

yeah, excessive conduction heat in small vap units is common. my starry 4 was given to me. my experience with model 3 was why i would not buy it. i was hoping they had solved the heat issue. i think i'll use it for a 1 session and done device and lower session to 4 min at 390f and use cigar puffing draws instead of long slow pulls.

i know what might be my issue is coming from with starry 4 heat. i am a old lady with thinner skin than most men. i have no callouses and bleed under skin easily because of thin skin on my hands/lips and have diabetic nephropathy and extreme hand and spine from rheumatoid arthritis. so maybe that's my problem with feeling the heat. i may be different than most of the men here, i don't know. enough said. thanks for you all.

Sex and ailments aside, I don't think anyone is arguing that the Starry v4 can get too hot for comfort... it's simply the nature of this type of device- a cheap session only electric portable conduction vape. They'll all get too hot eventually. I would say your best bet for a cheap electric portable would be a device that supports on-demand heating such as the Xmax v3 Pro, and to avoid most session style vapes. I personally use an induction heater with a Dynavap, which is primarily on-demand conduction... good luck! ✌️

Old & In the Way
I was gifted a Starry4 by XMax (thanks again @XMAXVAPORIZER!) on the understanding that I would give some feedback. I've had it a couple of weeks now, and I feel, overall, positive about it!

In similar small-ish form factor (size), I have had Pax1 & 2, Hopper io, VLeaf Go, V3Pro, Roffu. They all get hot to the touch if used for some "x" minutes. If I'm gonna do more than 2 chambers in short order, I would likely use a bigger device (Mighty, MiniVap...).

Starry4 is sleek, very nice to hold. The aluminum body reminds me of Pax, I paid $300 for my first one of those! I use a cloth sunglasses bag that it fits in, to keep dust out while it's in a pocket.

Starry4 mouthpiece is comfortable shape (like a little Mighty) and stays surprisingly cool thru at least two chambers, at the temps I use anyway. The adjustable draw will just stay wide open, for me. I still think it is a little tight, but I guess you need something to slow the pace so the device can make vapor. This device produces pretty nice clouds! Taste is very good; not as tasty as some of the convection devices, but it is nice thru several tokes.
I won't even try to call this a heavy hitter, but hits are satisfying and effect is definite.

Starry4 starts with 3 clicks, thank you for not making it a dumb 5-clicker.
Battery life seems great, I think 6 to 8 chambers is no problem.

The Starry4 has a generous oven that is easy to fill and to empty, I like that. Bigger than the Roffu or V3Pro, closer to og Pax, I guess. I'm enjoying the easy conduction performance of this vape. My sweet spot seems to be about 185-188C, whereas with Roffu or V3Pro I like about 178-180. Similar medium brown abv, I don't go for dark. The Starry abv is very even, no need in the least for a stir, unless maybe you like that little stir and bumped temp for a last hit or two.

My least favorite aspect of Starry4 is the screen. The information is tiny (except for temp) and is a lost cause if your are outdoors, can't be seen it at all. I just trust my 'previous setting' and hope I haven't pushed any buttons inadvertently.

With most every vape I've owned I have attempted some form of mod, most usually to get it working with glass piece (if the vape didn't come with wpa option) or a cooling stem, or something. I think with this one I can just take it for what it is, not try to max it out for huge rips. It is easy, comfortable and quite satisfying, if not pushed too hard.

Exactly, that’s why I mentioned the Mighty in an earlier post. It’s large with cooling fins, that keeps the hot bowl under control. However, It’s size is the reason I don’t use it often.

Indeed, for my purposes, I don’t run it back to back, I let it cool in between sessions. I’ll probably buy the silicone sleeve whenever that comes out? ENJOY!

Talking about skins there’s a video of the Starry 4 skin, seems it comes with 4 graphic skins for the skin and 2 you don’t know what they are. At 12 sec they show the upcoming ceramic wpa and a circular band I’m guessing is keep the mp on in your travels.

I would, that’s how I’m using it, despite being a conduction device. It can do many things.

Yeah, agree there, I’m having a hard time indoors as I still have one cataract. I have no problem with the v3 still, I’m guessing it’s a power saving feature on the v4, my Rogue sucks outside, a lot of devices do, the Roffu is pretty good outside.

I’ve given up on the swivel mp, using the v3 wpa till the v4 is out. Starry 3 used to be a favorite vape for hash because of the temps it could do, now I have better alternatives and the Starry 4 doesn’t change that, but it is better at low temps than the 3. It’s in my rotation and is what use to do huge rips that remind me of taking deep hits off a joint which I rarely partake in anymore. The thing can do a lot of things which nice.

whenever that comes out?
While waiting on @XMAXVAPORIZER, I will jump in (I am XVAPE, not XMAX in case you are confused) and say the silicone cover and accessories are supposed to be available for separate sale this month.
seems it comes with 4 graphic skins for the skin and 2 you don’t know what they are.
These are not skins but graphic art on the bodies.

I like the ceramic WPA with silicone cover that lets the WPA be a cool touch mouthpiece as well. The WPA has the same ceramic maze mouthpiece cooler, I removed these as I exclusively vape with the dosing capsules (the ceramic CU robs a lot of resin and definitely not needed on a bong).
I got the Ganesha version, definitely a hard hitter if you want,

Ok, they are not skins and I’m an idiot, sorry in the video it pulls out the silicone skin and cap container and that confused me, I’ll stop using the Starry 4, it has got me too stoned. It’s new designs on a Starry 4, that’s actually disappointing, I like wrapped skins better, because I’m not interested in another Starry, have too many already.:bang::bowdown:

They are are like battery wraps, you get 1 silicone skin and 4 wraps of different designs 2 unknown,
Again, not wraps either as the designs seem printed directly on the body/aluminium.
The 2 accessories with mine were the WPA and stickers. The Bear looks like it gets the silicone cover along with dosing capsules in a tube (my guess) and the other 2 are complete mysteries to me.
