I’ve been enjoying my Hybrid, it’s logged a lot of hours now.
Unfortunately the top parts of the orange housing on mine have turned black & show signs of burning or melting.
I enquired with S&B and sent a photo & they quickly replaced it for me, but didn’t respond about the possibility of it failing.
The replacement actually had an extremely tight fit which is great but I’ve had it for a while now & it’s already loosened up more than I’d like.
My sessions are never more than 5 minutes & that’s the only time the chamber is connected, plus I’m always careful not to over tighten it.
I really enjoy using this vape but I think this part of the housing may not be durable enough for the higher temperature settings I use.

And what temperature settings are those, cowboy? My feeling is, regardless of your temps and hours logged, you're still operating the device within its normal settings. I'm glad they replaced it for you no questions asked and like you, curious as to why it failed. I'm super glad to hear that you've enjoyed using it!

120v only or is it dual voltage switchable 120v/220v. Hope one of the owners can confirm

I usually run it at 230° & mostly with the whip but I’ve bumped it down to 220° for now. I’ve always used my S&B products at top temperature.

maybe the Volcano is running hotter than it shows? could be a defective heating element.

i find it hard to imagine that they ship the Hybrid with a plastic chamber that melts at higher temperatures, surely they tested this before.

or maybe there was residue/oil on the chamber housing which began to burn?

but in general they should offer a "premium" metal chamber for sure

I believe all us models are 120V only and they have an individual 220v model for european/worldwide markets like vapexhale cloud.

Wow, I run my Hybrid at max temp...well, between 420 and 446F..in that range...and have never seen anything like this.

I agree with the post above that it makes me wonder if your Volcano is actually exceeding the selected heat level.

This should not happen at all.

Mine are less pronounced than yours, probably because your tab broke. It may be making more direct contact without that tab

Remember to remove steel chamber insert by pressing up from under. Replace it same way after lining up three indents:

S&B may only now see this design issue after field use. But don't think they read these forums

Edit: This was used by friend for a couple months, so he may have left the chamber on hot unit after removing bag? Just trying to think of reasons...

This initially stated as a discolouring around sections of the top.
All the clips were intact at the time but the metal chamber was always very loose in the orange housing.
I thought it may have just been staining so I started making sure both parts of the chamber were spotless before using.

After the clip broke on the housing I noticed the discolouration getting worse so I stopped using it & contacted S&B.
I’m not exactly sure what’s going on but in future I’m not going to use the Hybrid if one or more of the clips are missing from the housing, & I’m going to order some spares just in case.
I did read your post some time ago about pushing on the base to remove the steel insert @ChooChooCharlie & have been doing that, but it makes me think that over tightening the housing would also put downward pressure on the clips. Also it’s probably a good idea to just screw the housing onto the Hybrid very gently as well.

@Nolan Kinshella I was going to pick up bags but I can't make up my mind. What do other owners prefer? I was thinking the 3 pack of 3m rolls so I can just change them myself. I'm at 5 weeks of daily use and my bag is pretty sticky inside at times. Vapour starts to pour out the bottom of the bag unless I help the bag along to start. My other choices all involve new easy valves from what I can tell and I know I'll need to replace them eventually but the bag is more dire.

That's a nice order! I was thinking of the bag roll so I can bring my Hybrid to my work Christmas party and get everyone really stoned with big 'ol bags. The idea of a 10' brings a smile to my face. I was talking to a co-worker yesterday about the Volcano and he told me how they use to go back to his friends house and make 10' bags on his back porch. His neighbor on the back side would see a big bag rise up above the fence and then suck back down and that's how he knew they were home haha.

I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't tried the whip my box is buried behind a bunch of stuff while I do some home improvements and every time I go to use it I'm reminded that I need some help to get at it.

I'm trying to remember how you use a Vortex on the whip. I know @ohmygodimsohigh and @stickstones rigged something up with it but other then the mental picture of them holding it I can't remember what else was involved.

Ya, I saw them on the latest Modern Cannabists stream using the Vortex on a few vapes, was really cool. I use the whip into a 14mm glass whip elbow into a water pipe. Bought 10 on DHGate for under $20.00.

My chamber looks just like @ChooChooCharlie ’s. Most of the dark coloring rubbed off, but it is still there. Definitely indentions starting to form in the plastic housing from the chamber ring.
