OK, just sent out the latest batch what I call "Order Confirmation invitations." This batch now includes everyone who signed up for the FD waiting list on or before February 3!

Woo hoo, I have finally reached out to all of the people who signed up in January!
Never have I hit a Like button with so much Like

Order confirmed and I am so psyched!

Hey there folks. I just wanted to share a positive experience I had.

Last week I dropped my fluxer heater and it took a tumble. It was one of those classic "I don't need or want to make two trips to the next room" type of deals. It took quite the fall.

It was not working correctly afterwards.

I promptly emailed mrC and got a quick reply and sent my unit in on Thursday last week. He received it over the weekend, diagnosed my issues and gave me my options. Luckily I was able to get one of the new PCBs installed. I also was offered and skipped all the new additional features.

I did swap my 14mm coil for a 15mm though and im excited to try that out. I was on the fence when I ordered and it'll make the Mrs happy.

Anyways he had it fixed, invoiced and in the mail in only a few days (Thurs to Tues) and I'll receive it back on Thursday this week.

So all in all the turnaround was impressive. The communication was impressive.

I'm glad I went with a fluxer heater.

@caseball2051 I’d be very interested to hear your views on the differences between the PCB’s and 14/15mm coils from an owners perspective, if you’d care to provide them in due course?

Great to hear about Mr_C’s ongoing customer service... very confidence inspiring :clap::clap:

I received Flux Deluxe #100. I received an order confirmation late on Sunday and it's now sitting in my hand  Unreal turnaround and service. The #100 came with it's unique voltmeter readings that MrC documented after using a calibrated power source. Awesome!
My FD also came with a nice soft silky bag for carrying out and about or for storing (unlikely).
Funny thing was when I unboxed it I heard rattling. Gave it a gentle shake and a lot more rattling! :ugh: I took the band off and then the lid... I let out an enormous sigh of relief as I removed the sac of silica dessicant :lmao:
So I dodged that bullet, but lo & behold my batteries aren't charged :bang:. Oh well, it's maiden voyage will need to wait until tonight.

Thank you MrC! So far you have exceeded my expectations!

I will absolutely chime in with my thoughts on the two. It should be coming back to me tomorrow.

It'll undergo thorough testing.

Surprise new feature time!

Hi all,

Someone recently requested an alternate to the Flux Deluxe's glass insert, something better able to survive a bump or a fall. I was on board once we established that it didn't need to be transparent or even LED-friendly. It sounded like a very reasonable request.

I drew up some requirements:
  • 14mm -16mm OD
  • 13mm-14mm ID
  • high temp capable
  • non metallic
  • impact resistant
  • non-transparent OK
:sherlock:

After some searching. I eventually found two materials that were suitable for alternate Flux Deluxe inserts:
  • a 16mm OD tubing made from epoxy resin
  • a 15mm OD tubing made form carbon fiber

non-glass-insert-options-private.jpg

The 16mm OD tubing is made from expoxy resin, the same material from which the PCBs are made. Its pale teal color won't win any beauty contests, but it works well and is very sturdy. The 16mm size + new analog relay is a very flavorful combo, BTW.

The 15mm tubing is carbon fiber, which we all know looks great, but in this context I think you only see it as a short black tube. It's certainly the more subtle of the two. It also works great and is the more aggressive of these two sizes.

Here's a picture of the 15mm carbon fiber tube in action with the standard board-mounted (aka "under glass") LEDs. The effect is subtle:

Another neat thing is cost: These are a free option for new heaters, at least for now. :D These materials cost more than glass, but they're easier to work, so I'm approaching these new materials and glass as equal choices. I may have to change that at some point if the bottom line says otherwise.

This is also sort of a hidden option for now, as I may not add these to the web site immediately. So for now, if you want one of these, please indicate it on the order confirmation form (I'lll update the form shortly). If I've recently said yours was next and you want one, please let me know ASAP. And if you already have a FD and want one, talk to me - these are bulky, so the shipping is pricey compared to the value of the object itself, i.e., these will probably be $15/shipped, if you want to try installing one yourself.

I'll add these to the web site soon and may charge for them at some point - we'll see how it goes.

That's it for now.

Cheers,
:leaf:

PS: I am continuing to make new heaters every day, and am slowly working through the waiting list.

Hey @mr_cfromcali, the Fluxer looks amazing, been following this thread for a while. I sent you an email and message here about being added to the list. Did you get that through request OK?

@Lozo : PM sent.

To all:

If you are NOT on the Flux Deluxe waiting list and would like to add yourself, please use this link:

https://fluxerheaters.com/flux-deluxe-waiting-listlease

There is no need to do this if you have already asked to be put on the list!

Thanks! I am almost done building out the current cohort. I will be sending out more Order Confirmation emails later this week.

Also, a heads-up that FD production will be suspended next week (August 4-9) as I need to do some traveling for my real job. :|

Otherwise, all is good here, and Fluxer production keeps rolling along.

Cheers,
:leaf:

I sent an email about a week ago to be added but didn't hear back. Should I use this link or no?

Thanks for your interest.

If you sent me an email request to be added to the list, I have the info I need for now. You are good.

I appreciate the logic behind the recommendation to submit again, but as the guy who has to de-dupe the list (i.e., remove duplicates), please submit only one request, if possible. If you sent an email, I have the info I need for your spot in the queue.

There have been days when I've received more waiting list requests than I can respond to in a reasonable period of time. When that happens, I simply add names to the list, silently. It isn’t ideal, but it’s what I can do for now, as it keeps the line moving.

Thanks!

I'm sorry MrC!!! I don't mean to add work to your queue, that's for sure.

@mr_cfromcali how many people are actually waiting for a flux heater?

Thanks for your question, @Nilsson . I think you will alll find this interesting.

There are currently ~450 people on the waiting list, which is amazing! Thank you for your interest in this heater!

To this point, my conversion rate from "on the waiting list" to "customer" has been around 55%: I have sold 110 Flux Deluxes to the first 199 names on the waiting list. Thank you all for making this device a success!

At the present conversion rate, that means the current 450 names should yield about 250 heaters.

I am now making an average of two heaters per day, and I estimate my current output to be 50 heaters per month, +/- a few. It's a good number to use for estimation.

By these numbers, there is currently a 4-6 month wait for a new heater. Not everyone wants to wait that long for an ancillary vaping device, and some folks have already been waiting since February and likely found something else, so there may be some more attrition as I get deeper into the list.

I believe the design is more stable and reliable now with the analog relay, and my production methods and skills are better than they were 110 heaters ago, so I think the next 110 will be made more quickly than the first 110 were. We'll see how that plays out.

I think I'm moving through the list as efficiently as a one person operation can, given that this is still just a hobby and not my day job. I'm thrilled by this project's success and not knocking it at all, but I do have a "real" job that I need to pay my real bills, so this is still just a side-thing. This project has required some re$ources to get off the ground, too, so it's important for all of us that I keep my day job, lol.

I like making these, and I'm proud of 'em. If I'm being honest with myself, I think the current design is as good as I ever hoped it would be. I'm looking forward to making as many heaters as I can until I burn out and/or Dynavap or someone else releases something better than this.

And that's where things stand at the moment.

Cheers,
:leaf:

I've had my updated FD (#027) a week now. It's used daily and equally by my wife and me.

We started off with a 14 mm coil. It was fast and we loved it. I had an issue putting the heat shield in (d'oh!) and sent it back for repair. I decided to swap to a 15 mm coil, just to reign it back a bit. (my wife keeps telling me that faster isn't always better)

Super fast return. We love it. We use it daily. Fast forward, lots of use for months, lately we notice it getting a little wonky. Not sure what's up, I chat w/@mr_cfromcali and I decide to send it back for the latest updates.

Super fast return. We love it. We use it daily. My wife commented that she was enjoying the hits she was getting with a torch while it was gone and the new version hits more like that. Full and intense, like we're getting everything we can out of the flowers, but not hot or harsh. Big and full.

I don't notice any significantly longer heating time than the previous version. It's quick and easy. No noticeable change in battery life. I don't miss the adjustable temperature control, after the first week I never touched it. Simple and reliable.

With the upgrade I was able to add the under glass LEDs and I love it! It's easy to see from any angle and it looks super cool! I love how it lights up my @RogueGuy glass stem, especially when the lights are low!

Thanks so much for taking the time to post that, @Moses Baca ! I'm very glad it's working so well for you guys, and also very pleased you like the new circuit! You've been using this thing since February, so you're in a great position to judge it. Thanks for validating my own impressions that this is an improvement over the previous circuit.

BTW, I never considered the potential of the glass insert + glass stem! That illuminated stem looks pretty sweet. I know what I am ordering after I finish this post.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

@Moses Baca . A “like” is not enough - great info/post.
You are tempting me to send mine back in for the upgrade. I guess I need to break out the ol’ torch and see if I notice a difference in taste. I will probably combust a few times b/c I am so out of practice
And the glass stem looks great with the light.
